The Hound and Arya scenes were definitely my favorite parts. When they are hiding in the bushes and all you can see is their faces I was rolling.

To be honest, I've found Jaime really entertaining in the books as well, as far as his lines are concerned.

I've said before I don't think this is a normal TV show where viewer numbers are sure to tail off in the later seasons. Some of the best shows have a special novelty that make their 1st season amazing which they can keep going for a long time but not for the full life of their run (especially on a long running show). With Game of Thrones there was no need for a clever idea or novelty and telling the excellent underlying story with top notch production values in all areas was enough by itself. I think it's going to get bigger as the stakes keep building and everything amps up towards an unknown conclusion. Most who have made it to the end of season 4 having watched everything before I believe will be there at the end, especially if the quality stays as high as this last episode. I only came into this recently even though I'm into fantasy and knew it had a great reputation and have since introduced it/forced it on to others who have all of their own accord bought and caught up on everything to date and started watching live from this season. There are more potential fans out there who haven't watched a single episode yet who will eventually be convinced to start by word of mouth and I think this show will retain viewers well in later seasons as those who GoT is not for will likely have dropped out earlier. We'll see anyway and it's great to hear that it's doing so well.

He beheaded a horse in season 1 during a tourney and he was at Harrenhall during season 2, though he had few lines.

He was so unnecessary in season 2... I don't understand why they had to recast him for those dumb scenes. And here we are in season 4 with yet another actor playing him. The recasting on this show is its biggest problem IMO.

The Daario is the only significant one I can think of. I had no idea who that guy was in the scene with Dany till I recall hearing a blurb about getting a new actor. I wish they had gotten one that somewhat resembled the last

The original Daario is quite unique looking. It might have been difficult getting someone who looks like him (other than just being a similar height or having long hair of the same colour) and is a good enough actor for a major GoT part, and wants it and is free to do it. I don't know if that's the case just thinking out loud. But it'd be good if they continued being ultra obvious every time they intro him that this is Daario for a few episodes at least. I think in the 1st episode it was done as well as could be expected.

They said his name plenty of times. Yeah he looks very different, but the show made it very clear who he was.

I thought he was just going to finish that with something like 'there would be no one left to oversee the Wall'..but the lad just doesn't do unawesome.

Hmmm. Well, for all the horrible things he does, Joffrey is one of those characters you love to hate. Janos is just an outright ****head.

Yeah, it was a fantastic episode. It was very well paced, which is impressive because they covered alot of characters in the episode. We seriously got to see things change from character to character without it feeling all over the place or over packed.

I'm ****ing sold on Oberyn. I got this badass latino heat version of Captain Jack Harkness vibe from him. I really enjoyed how the "Rains of Castamere" just set him off. His scene with Tyrion was very well done, too. I liked the slight he made by touching Tyrion's chin the way he did, getting across his point.

Jon Snow was pretty badass. It seemed, as he was talking to Sam about Robb, that he's changed. I know people here say they haven't done him justice, so maybe this is a sign that they will this season.

I've gotta agree, which was one of the very few worries I had about this season, about Daario. I completely agree, that the other guy seemed way more full of himself...kinda like he was full of ****, and he had a face that I wanted to punch. But, I liked that about him. I liked that he seemed to get closer to Dany, leading to the moment where we can pinpoint the exact moment where Jorah's heart breaks to pieces inside his chest. And looking at him beside someone like Jorah, I thought Daario wasn't meant to be someone we liked entirely. Or is he a very well liked character in the books?

Either way, the new Daario seems way more subtle and underplayed from the previous one. I know they made an effort to say his name numerous times, to get across that he's the same character. But, I think most viewers who don't read the books probably couldn't name you half the characters off the top of their heads, either. But, eh it is what it is. It's a weird thing, and I wish they'd gotten someone who looked more like the last guy. But, whatever. It won't hurt the show.

I felt really sad about Ice getting destroyed. Arya getting Needle back was great, but still. Right after I'd finished reading the first book, I'd started reading up on wikis about some of the ancestral weapons, like Dark Sister, Ice, and Brightroar). Kinda reminded me a little of the Elder Scrolls, with there being these family heirloom weapons that have some pretty cool names and have history. So, seeing one of them get destroyed was sad.

As for Arya and the Hound. I could watch them traveling Westeros and just ****ing **** up everywhere for hours.

A thing i noticed is how much the increased the budget. That last shot of Arya and Clegane entering the desolated riverlands was great.

Yeah i remember that in the book there were one or two hints about what had happened to Ice. It was not until the very end that it was explicitly told by Jaime.

that's me. I watch the BRs with the In-Episode Guide on and constantly checking it when a different character pops up on screen bc I find it difficult keeping the names for the more minor characters in order

I agree they have made it as obvious as possible..but for someone who doesn't know a major character is being recast they won't be looking out for even obvious clues. It's probably difficult for book readers to think how casual viewers who don't ever even rewatch a single episode probably don't remember the names of many of the secondary characters even if they know them well by face.

When they hear the name of a character and see a completely different person it either won't register or they'll think they misheard or misinterpreted or that they were wrong all along about the character's name. Or even that the real Daario is somewhere else or that it's a warlock's trick or something like that. I remember asking who Daario was in this thread after the announcement having seen everything once, even though I obviously knew exactly who he was & remembered the name Daario..just couldn't directly attribute the name to him. Would probably have been the same for the likes of Edmure Tully and any of the Dothraki outside of Khal Drogo.

Everything about this character seemed awesome beforehand and he's surpassed even those expectations so far. Ellaria seems good too.

His relationship with Ygritte belittling him all the time among other things has kept his badass level in check for too long. Now we get to see the real Jon Snow!

Yes if someone had shown me these 2 actors beforehand and asked me to pick I'd have gone with who we have now but with the other guy in place I would have preferred to keep him. He definitely came across as an arrogant ******* who needed a punch but that kind of worked and made you feel like that is what the showrunners wanted you to feel about the character. The new Daario doesn't exude that slightly annoying, slightly idiotic aholishness at all, so far, but even if different at least he seems like he can also be a good character.

Yeah Would have been nice for it to pass to one of the Stark kids or Jon at some point.

Yep, and many don't even do that. They watch it as it comes out on TV and never again.
