HBO's True Detective - Part 1

Vaughn's career trajectory hasn't been all that different than McConaughey's, honestly. In fact, I think Vaughn was probably making better film choices. At least he had Dodgeball and Wedding Crashers. What did McConaughey have? Surfer Dude and the one where he's a man-child that that bangs Sarah Jessica Parker?

Vaughn's okay I haven't seen him in anything serious since a History of Violence. I'd be curious how he does in this show.

Isn't History of Violence Viggo Mortenson? (Or however you spell his name?)

Vaughn can do serious roles so i would actually be behind this

MM was filmed all in one chunk, they're done. AMC is just being stupid in releasing it in two sections...

No to go too far off topic but I get why they did it. They don't really have anything solid to replace it with yet.

Vaughn isn't the worst candidate ever.

Vaughn is an interesting unexpected candidate. I like it. He was really good in Into the Wild.

This is so interesting, Vaughn is a great actor who tends to act solely in comedies, but I'm interested in seeing him in a possibly more dramatic role. He was indeed excellent as always in Into The Wild (and it being YEARS ago as Aesop says doesn't change anything, in fact, I don't even see how that warrants a comment like this).

If all of those are confirmed, this sounds like it's going to be much bigger in scope than the first season.

He's done serious movies. I don't see how him doing them a while ago should effect his dramatic acting abilities. Besides, comedians usually are terrific dramatic performers because they know timing.

And Moss would be VERY cool. She won a lot of acclaim for Top of the Lake and she's one of the best characters (the best female characters ) in Mad Men.

If all four of these turn out to be true then we have a very interesting cast.

He only makes movies he can add 50+ endorsements in...

Yeah. I'm sure Vaughn still has some acting ability... somewhere... but he's played the same annoying character in so many movies now that I don't want to give him another chance. People can make the comparison to Matthew M. if they want, but I feel he was always a better actor than Vaughn (like, a LOT better) even if he did phone it in for a few years in rom-coms. The only movies where Vaughn has EVER impressed me as an actor were Clay Pigeons and Swingers.

This would be a downgrade of epic proportions.

Mmmm, I'm loving al these rumours.

Yeah, but like I said before, MM was and is a better actor. Vaughn has never been anything above competent, IMO.
