HBO's True Detective - Part 1

Just binge-watched this show and it absolutely floored me.

We truly are in a golden age of television. Incredible.

It sure is incredible, and there's still tons of stuff left to pick up on in this fantastic season. When Cohle first encounters Errol, the lawnmower man, at the school, the sign on the school reads "Notice King" as the camera pans across the sign to reveal Rust walking over to Errol. Little moments such as these make this show unbelievably great, along with the big moments such as that excellent one-shot escape at the end of Ep. 4. I seriously can't wait to get this on Blu-ray and see what they're up to with this next season.

Only mockingly and already someone has taken the bait. :hehe:
I know. While I think it would be awesome (Morgan Freeman already did Seven but come on, why not again?) I don't think he'd actually go for it.

You guys say Freeman. But what about Ed Norton?
He was doing a phone commercial recently for god's sake. If he kept his ego in check seeing him and Pitt work together again would be sweet.

Edit: Not to turn this thread into a Season 2 wishlist.

"you know I've seen all the different types. We all fit a certain category. The bully... The charmer... The... uh... surrogate dad... the man possessed by ungovernable rage... the brain... and any of those types can be a good detective and any of those types can be an incompetent ****heel." -Martin Hart

I might be reaching. But doesn't Marty basically become all of those at a certain point in the series?

I love how peoples minds are in David Fincher territory. Pitt, Norton, Freeman. This show reminded me a lot of Se7en and Girl with the dragon tattoo.

Anne Hathaway would be a good choice too. I would like the new season to maybe tie into the first one in a subtle way... Maybe with a third season actually tying them together.

How long before someone suggests Morgan Freeman....:o

I wouldn't mind that. :D He can be sufficiently creepy if need be.

I think I'll go the route Tyreese did.

I'd still love to see Anne Hathaway play a detective though.
That would be excellent. She's played a psychotherapist in Passengers who does a little bit of investigating, and 99 in Get Smart. Those would be the closest she's been to a 'detective' so far. And then there's thief in TDKR. :oldrazz:

Brad Pitt will jump off a cliff before he does a TV show.

I hope he has a parachute, then. :o

Rewatched episode 4. That just might be my favorite episode of Season 1. Truly impeccable stuff.:up:

Probably? The season 1 song is just so perfect though, it randomly gets stuck in my head at times.

It has a real southern feel though and probably wouldn't work as well for a different locale? I really hope they keep T-bone burnett as the music supervisor still.

They could get someone to do the cover ala The Wire and their theme song.

Between the amazing acting, the directing, the writing, the cinematography, location, music etc. the 2nd season is going to have such high expectations to meet when this show does come back.

I'm really hoping this show doesn't turn out to be a 1 hit wonder almost, there was just so much stuff that came together at the right time, especially the "mcconaissance".

Essentially the only person locked to come back is the writer as well, i think the director from last season played a big role in the success of the show.

Me, too! I downloaded a lot of songs from the show. :D
