HBO's True Detective - Part 1

Yeah that was the bennefit of True Detective, in that it prety much had to hit the ground running and didn't really leave you unsastisfied by dragging out a plot line or story too long.

They are too different to compare on a series to series basis but I think comparing individual episodes are fair game.

Yeah, that is true. But from my perspective, when I look at something as elaborate and intricate as Breaking Bad, there really is no comparison here. TD was like a great short story, while BB was like an amazing novel (or series of novels).

If you comapre acting Cranston had 5 seasons to get from point A to point B with his character, Mconaughay had only 8 episodes.

Part of me wonders which process as an actor is more difficult really? The slower transition from year to year or having to condense all that change in a short span?

These two will almost certainly be going head to head in the emmy's and for cranston from episode 1 I doubt he had any idea where Walt as a character would go but Matthew had to know from day 1 essentially.

All them competing against each other does is ensure that no matter what I will have a mediocre at best emmy night.

So I just finished a marathon of this series. Holy crap, what a show. The length of the series was 100% perfect, 8 episodes of build up, drama and intensity, the perfect length. Virtually a 2-man show. I actually love the idea that each series is going to be its own unique story and characters, it means this show could theoretically last for decades and not get stale. Brilliant.

I'm so excited to kniw who's cast as the leads. Whoever it is they had better bring their a game. Hope they think outside the box though.

You guys know what the rumor is? According to Mirror UK (grain of salt then), Brad Pitt is in talks right now to star in the second season

http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/brad-pitt-true-detective-actor-3530863

The newspaper also cites a source saying the Hollywood A Lister is already part of the HBO family - through his producing the upcoming HBO adaption of play The Normal Heart - so the only thing standing in his way is his movie schedule.

The source added that the World War Z actor could front the series on his own though talks are said to be ongoing for a potential partner.

That would be amazing

That Pitt rumor sounds very old. I swear I heard of that about 2 months ago.

I don't remember there being any official rumors, but he was in a lot of fan castings.

I heard of a female detective in this too. Some A list actress apparently is that true?

It's be cool if this they made Pitt the criminal being pursued. It's been a while since he played a bad guy, and honestly those have always been my favorite roles of his.

Yea that'd be interesting. Pitt is underrated as an actor. He's a character actor stuck in a leading man body.

I'd like to see him in a role where he can just go bonkers, like Twelve Monkeys.

Brad Pitt with Ed Norton or Casey Affleck would be great.

Michael Pitt and Ryan Gosling reunion would be another great pairing.
