The lady friend hooked me up with a copy of Ligotti's book mentioned a view posts above as well as a TD T-shirt.

Ligotti's stuff so far is very intriguing if you an interest in this sort of stuff. I'll look into getting copies of his fictional works after I finish Conspiracy Against The Human Race.

There we have it. This was all probably all started by some overzealous Fargo fanboy with nothing better to do.
It was actually started by a guy who runs an HP Lovecraft fansite and a guy who runs a Thomas Ligotti fansite.

Anyone have an idea of what time period season 2 will take place in, or has Nic not discussed that yet? We know it will take place in California and involve a railway(unless i heard wrong)?

HBO programming director Michael Lombardo revealed a handful of details about the new season of True Detective Thursday, but he didn't disclose who would be starring in the second season of Nic Pizzolatto's series.

"We’re going to start shooting in September for it to air next summer," Lombardo told an audience at the Edinburgh TV Festival, confirming various plot details about the show. "[It has] different characters, a different setting. It’s set in California, all of California. There are three cops. One of the characters is female. I think that’s probably all I’m allowed to say. We’ll probably be announcing casting soon."

Lombardo said he’d read the first two hours of scripts plus outlines for two subsequent episodes.

"When you have a success like True Detective it’s challenging, less for us and more for someone like Nic, how to face the page again and start afresh and not be haunted by the success of the show you’ve just done," he said. "But the writing is better than last season. It’s exceptional."

Unlike the crime drama’s first season, which was directed in its entirety by Cary Fukunaga, Lombardo said he thought they’d use "three or four different directors" this time around, without naming any potential candidates.

Speaking about working with the volume of pitches he receives, Lombardo said that True Detective was among the few shows he accepted almost instantaneously.

"We’d worked with Nic before. We hired him to do a pilot script, which we decided not to go forward with. But the writing was unbelievable. So we get a call to say Nic had written two episodes [of True Detective] and was it in with possibility for attached stars. And they gave us the first two scripts. I knew in the room that we had to do this. It was clear that they had packaged it and it was competitive. I just said ‘I want to do this,’ " he said.
Strange that they're moving away from the one director format.

Next summer.......awwwwww. :(

I guess it's going to fill True Blood's time-slot leading into The Leftovers. That's a f**king sick lineup. :wow:

Start shooting next month? Then we'll be hearing official casting soon.

Yeah, I wish they'd make some commitments soon. I want to know if I'm getting my boy Taylor or not.

Is the cast for this season ever going to be finalized?

The only worry I have about them waiting so long it seems to cast the leads is that, it's likely that Nic has probably finished off a good deal of the story without the specific leads in mind?

I believe when Matthew at least was cast last season, nic based some his writing around him specifically.

It sounds like it's going to be either a summer (or possibly even fall) show for 2015. So they still have tons of time to cast as I can't see filming to take place until the spring.

It's going to start shooting this month for a summer 2015 release.

Yeah, I thought someone said a couple weeks ago that the cast would be announced like a couple weeks ago. HAHA! I just hope they are taking their time and making everything perfect.

Justin Lin seems like such a weird choice for this.

Yeah, talk about left field. I mean, Better Luck Tomorrow was decent and I like what the guy did with F&F, but this isn't just a different ballgame for him; it's a whole other sport.

I just have to believe HBO/Pizzolatto see something in him that we don't.
