After sampling it I'd have to agree. I like the Lera Lynn song much better.

A massive step down from the quality of the theme of season 1.

Why couldn't they just use "Something Worth Fighting For"?

Nevermind is a much better choice. The Lera Lynn tune is great but it's way too mellow for a series intro. I said it the first time i heard it in the teaser, that it would probably close an episode rather than serve as the intro theme. Plus the lyrics in the Cohen track fit this season very well.

Anyone have any season 2 avatars or the hype??

I can get behind Nevermind especially when I see the title sequence and watch the show. But this seems like it can fit with True Detective. It's one of those things you know? Sometimes the show helps us love the song. Let's be honest with ourselves: Would we really like Far From Any Road if we heard it separately out of context without even knowing True Detective's existence? Don't know, but I do know there's some songs in The Sopranos I'd probably hate if it weren't for Sopranos.

I really hope critics are not criticizing it because it's not like season one. I don't want season one.

"Nevermind" by Cohen is about as mellow as it comes. It's about as engaging as watching paint dry. It's slow, plodding, and sounds like something you'd hear in some small town coffee shop.

I don't think I've ever been more excited for a season premiere for tonight. I really hope this doesn't disappoint.

I don't think it will be awful but better not have high hopes it matches season 1 levels Squeek. If we can all do that then I'll think we'll enjoy it.

It's never going to top last season. I'm just hoping for it to good enough on its own is all.

There's really nothing to suggest that it won't at least end up being on level with Season 1.

And anyone expecting the same thing (read: most of the critics who reviewed the first three episodes, it looks like) will undoubtedly be disappointed.
