:lmao:

Missed it last night. Going to check it out today.

He lost some hair but just noticed that the guy playing the mayor was the guy who going to be fed to his dogs in TDK.

I spotted him right off. Also recognized the sleazy guy who wouldn't commit his money and handed his glass to Vince like he was a servant, he was one of the crazy Irish guys from Sons of Anarchy. Funny how you see the same guys making the rounds after a while. :p

Also there seems to be a surreal element to it. Did anyone notice that crow's head next to Casper? And the naked woman floating in milk that Ray saw?
I thought it had some David Lynch/Lost Highway/Mulholland Drive vibes going on.

I thought it was an alright episode. There's definitely a lot more going on with this story than what we got last season. Not bad, though. I'll keep watching.

There's so much snark about this episode/season on Twitter and in reviews. It's weird, but not surprising because I've seen some "Maybe season 1 really wasn't that good...? Pizzolatto sucks and it was all Fukunaga!" backlash in the last 6 months.

What did you guys think of McAdams?

Im reading a really mixed response about her.

From what Ive seen: people like Vaughn and Ferrell, lukewarm on McAdams and don't like Kitsch

I thought they all got off to a good start with the characters. Last night's episode was primarily about Velcoro but the small bits on Ani and Woodrugh were interesting. I'm particularly interested in Kitsch's character. He seems to be the most complex of the four.

Nothing complex about a guy who can't get it up and use's Viagra.

I do like the opening credits. Cohen is magic.

Well other than that piss poor excuse for a theme song it was good. The opening credit designs and Rachel McAdams ass more than make up for any shortcomings. Seriously, her in those black panties and that grey tshirt.:hmr: I love HBO!

I'm still not sure what didn't work for me with the opening this time around, because the song isn't bad to me and the credits looked very nice. I guess it's just once again having to follow season 1. The opening credits and song together were absolutely perfect.

I actually felt the song that girl was "performing" at the bar should have been the theme for this season.

Anyways, yeah there is a lot more going on this season; so the first episode was more of a foundation to build upon for the next few episodes, which is when I'm hoping the show really picks up steam.

Odds of him being gay?

Because the Viagra is one thing. But he just look so miserable to be getting a bj from a very attractive, seemingly nice woman.

If I had to guess his scars are from an abusive and homophobic family member.

I just thought the Viagra thing was just to let you know he didn't do anything with that girl he pulled over. I never thought of him being gay.

He did try to put it in McAdams B-Hole...

It took me a while to fully wrap my head around it. I'm just so used to season one's format and characters, setting and tone. Not that I didn't like it, it just felt so weird just how different this season is. It's one thing to actually know it going in, but to see it is another thing. Plus I just rewatched season one before the premiere so that probably contributed to it.

But my head has been swimming. I do love it. It's L.A. Confidential meets True Detective. I loved how this episode was the opposite of season one's first episode. The body is discovered at the end of it instead of the beginning. Ani shuts down Elvis in the car when asking her to open up, Pizzalotto telling us that this isn't a Rust/Marty relationship.

I just loved seeing these characters in their own little worlds before meeting up by the end. And all of them are so ****ed up. Ani and Ray showed up drunk for God's sake. An interesting note from one review mentioned how when the three eye each other it's less of a look of meeting and more of a look of pre-knowledge. Perhaps these three people aren't strangers after all. I don't know where the hell this show is going and I love that.

Also there seems to be a surreal element to it. Did anyone notice that crow's head next to Casper? And the naked woman floating in milk that Ray saw?

I think the show runners said they keeping the almost supernatural like vibe to the show with the cult stuff.

Hey anything's possible in that regard but they confirmed a long time ago when he was cast in the role that he was former military now Highway Cop. Those burns, intimacy issues and suicidal tendencies all add up to PTSD.

Wrong guy

Wrong guy

Kitsch character reminds me a lot of Mad Max with the PTSD and having to be on the road. Remember what he told his boss, him being on the road is all he has. He is a road warrior in a lot of ways like Max.

The episode was a lot better than I feared it would be, based on what I'd heard. It started off really slow but picked up considerably by the end so that I'm now excited to see what will happen.

Vaughn's character is so flat and lifeless. His plot is boring so far, too. Is there anything duller than corporate intrigue? I could hardly focus on his scenes. Also, the actor who played Osip was the Russian mogul in those DirectTV commercials.

McAdams was the worst part of the cast. Why does Hollywood hire her to play these edgy roles? I sorta like her dad, though. When she mentioned a woman gone missing at a religious institute I groaned inwardly thinking we were in a plot repeat but nothing came of that so it's all good.

Kitsch's character is also super dull. I can't even say anything about him.

Farrell has the most interesting character. I really liked him for most of the episode, then he lost me when he screamed at his son, then he won me back when he beat up "Ass pen's" dad. That line he said during the beatdown was classic. He is presumably this season's Rust.

This post makes it sound like I hated the episode, but I didn't. The characters and performances are nothing special so far but the murder, that woman's disappearance, and the assault on Ray's wife have me intrigued. I'm just wondering how all these plots are related.

I think Colin might be this season Marty and Kitsch Rust.

Didnt he claim those scars werent from the war? I think he said that but I could be making it up.
