The Dark Knight Heath Ledger Dead - ALL talk/rememberance and discussion in here

The movie is going to reach iconic status for reasons beyond the story, acting, or anything else.

I know that they might not be mentioning it for awhile, but has there been any mention of TDK being his last film or did he/was he int he process of filming another after TDK wrapped?

Just to clarify, as this is being said a LOT right now.

TDK was NOT his final project. "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" With Terry Gilliam will be his last film.

We really can't talk about what this news means for the future of Batman because we don't know how TDK ends. And Nolan or WB isn't going to get too into either other than they are grieving over the loss. If they tell us now this changes plans for future Batman films then it giveaways what happens in TDK. And that's not to sound insensitive because I'm sure Heath wouldn't want the project he put so much effort into spoiled before its release.

Too soon guys... too soon... who gives a sh:t about cult status... damn we are so far away from that point... but I fear this ends the series...

I think they next trailer was going to focus more on Dent anyways, but I can see them not promoting the Joker so much in the next couple of months. Once we get closer to the release date, they'll bring him back more to the forefront.

My question is, should they recast if the character is needed?

Seems unlikely.

I am gonna open this ONE thread for now, until i talk to Malice about how this effects the bandwidth, don't make any more.

no, he tried so hard for this role and it shouldnt be wasted

I think the film will be released as planned on the arranged release date. I dont think re-editing is required, unless the film ends with the Joker obviously continuing into the third one. I think the filmakers have to put a very large tribute to Ledger at the start of the credits though, and throughout the publicity and marketing of the film continue to pay tribute to him.
But at the moment i dont think people are concerned about the film - a great young actor has just died.

I hope they won't start cutting the finished movie.

Another Hollywood drug story, who cares?

I guess we're going to be shocked, when this happens to Linsay Lohan and Britney Spears too, he's an idiot just like them?

...... nevermind

go away

I think the film should be scrapped and reshot. With all do respect, and this is a terrible tragedy, but you have to think about continuity.

I agree with the idea of them not promoting joker in the next trailer...

But it wont be recast..

I'll be suprised ifwe get a 3rd movie..

Depending on how TDK ends I don't think nolan will want to do another Batman flick without ledger

that's a truly awfull news, may God be with him. Very sad news

Poor guy, and poor family. He was 28. How messed up is that?
God, the movie is gonna have such a weird feeling now....this role was the note on which he ended his life. My prayers go out to him.

This might be innapropriate, but scientology is gonna have a field day with this.

Depends on how the movie ends....but this could change everything, far as I'm concerned.

I couldn't disagree more. Lee was a tragic accident. Ledger was an O.D. it seems. Lee was a victim. Ledger is the one victamizing people. Specifically his 2 year old daughter.

I'm going to have to agree with Matt. Lee was a victim and his death was a total accident.

Here it seems like like Heath may have committed suicide, or just an OD from his own fault.

Still horribly saddening news, condolences to his wife and child.

I'd be lying if I said a million different thoughts about what happens to the franchise didn't cross my mind with this news. But still, I'm going to hold off a couple days before I get into that.

I think there are a lot of necessary and legitimate questions that need to be asked and answered about the future of TDK. I'm sure in the next few days that will happen. But for today, I agree we should hold off and just remember Ledger.
