i just found out the news about thirty minutes and.....wow

I still can't believe it

RIP

My God.

I feel like I've just been punched in the stomach. I feel sick. ****.

:(

with whats happened, does anyone else think it may be a good idea to push the release back a month or two, rather than cause a lot of trouble

:hoboj: RIP :(
They should continue on. They should mourn for however long as it takes, but I think that in Heath's memory, they should release it on the day they said it would.

He was one of the most talented actors of his generation. This is a terrible shock; reminds me of River Phoenix.

R.I.P.

Well, this role will DEFINITELY get nominated for something, at least out of honor for him. I don't doubt that. I still can't let this bias my opinion of his Joker once I see it though.

It's obviously going to dramatically effect the marketing. The actors still involved will be unable to talk about anything other than Ledger. It will be impossible for subsequent trailers and TV spots either to ignore him or to focus on the evil of his role.

It has the potential either to completely derail the movie, or to make it one of the most memorable classics of all time.

As for the future of the franchise, well, I suppose it reduces the chances of The Joker being seen again. It may even effect the way that TDK is cut, perhaps to avoid a death scene or anything too harrowing involving Heath. I can't see how another actor can step into his shoes, now. I would imagine that it reduces the chances of the existing cast and crew making a return, as well.

I wouldn't expect the film content to be affected. I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally wouldn't think it appropriate to edit some of his final work, especially given his enthusiasm and hard work for the role. I can say that if I died with a work in progress, I certainly wouldn't want it chopped up for the sake of sensitivity.

EXCLUSIVE: Heath Ledger's Friend: "We Saw It Coming"
http://www.usmagazine.com/exclusive_health_ledgers_friend_we_saw_it_coming

News of Heath Ledger's death has shaken friends of the actor.

"This is terrible and I'm in shock," a close friend of Ledger's tells Usmagazine.com. "But to tell you the truth... we saw it coming."

"Heath has gone though a rough road of trying to get sober," the source tells Us.

"Things were very dark," the source says. "His one joy was Matilda." Matilda is his 2-year-old daughter with ex-wife Michelle Williams. They split in September.

"Everything else was misery for him," adds the source. "Unfortunately he was too late in getting help."

Ledger, 28, was found dead, reportedly at Mary-Kate Olsen's apartment.

this is really sad.

Dude, calm. I mean...you haven't even seen the performance yet. How can you say he deserves an Oscar? His death is sad...but there is no need to overreact.

Great, he's going to be the next "Died Young" posterboy.

The people bringing up the Crow really tick me off. Brandon Lee died in a tragic accident on set. Heath apparently died in a self destructive way, in some coked up starlets apartment. Not the same damn thing.

I actually think that the Batman franchise just got killed once again! I loved "Batman Begins" and had high hopes in Nolan and his team to make a nearly perfect Batman movieseries but I highly doubt WB will release TDK as planned - IF EVER!
This is not like "The Crow" where it was an accident, this was reportedly a "OD Suicide", so TDK already has a HUGE stigma in advertising and marketing to overcome. I just don't see WB advertising this flick with Ledger on the frontcover this summer.

And in a sick twist of events, JLA just got an official "right to exist" because this whole incident can be buried with the new Batman and possible spin-offs!

Sad, really sad ... :csad:

First of all, I doubt that's what he'd have wanted.

Secondly. If this film is recut differently because of heath's death i will lose all faith in the american film industry. People die and it's a fact of life.

Very sad though.

R.I.P. Heath, sad to see a young actor past away.

This sucks, he was good too. I wonder if the dark knight in going to be in his memory.

So sad I hope this had nothing to do with his preperation for the movie. The way we can remember him is watching this movie and loving it. I hope his family is ok.

I was browsing through the internet and saw that my brother had a topic open that said something along the lines of, "...how will Heath's death affect TDK?" and I was stunned and confused. I came here for more confirmation and reactions. To say this is sad is an understatment at best. My prayers are with his daughter/family.

I dont know guys, the entire marketing scheme is going to have to be reworked. I would not be at all surprised if its bumped back to 2009 and they do reshoots with a different actor.

No it won't. Joker will only be in one film now.

I don't know how comfortable I feel watching a film about a deranged sadist, knowing that he is being played by an actor with acute psychological problems.

^Yeah right.

This film is obviously going to immortalize him.

Who knows, there might be enough leftover footage to the Joker into Batman3 in a small way.

you have a point about the 3rd movie
but dont talk about that now

I think it's a little soon to be worried about this ####ing film and how the franchise will be affected...who cares right now?

Rest in peace Heath :(
