didnt Jack get nominated?

Jack was nominated for a Golden Globe (Best Actor - Motion Picture Musical/Comedy)... er, yeah.

Yes they can.......and probably will.......there is no rule that says you can't give a supporting actor nom, without the others......

I mean it would be great if TDK got a nom, but I doubt that will happen....but the type of role that Heath took on, and from what I've seen he has taken it far beyond anything anyone could have imagined, then I can definitely see him getting the nomination, and winning.

But you know what I am talking about. I hope. Christian Bale deserved something out of Begins and will never get it. If hes anything close to being better in TDK than BB, he would have to get a Nom. I mean its not like a fluke possible film either.

You have Nominated and winning actors in the films.
Freeman, Caine, Ledger, Oldman...I mean its not a typical summer film. Those people want to work with christopher nolan for one reason(in a comic film). In a sense he isnt doing a comic film. Hes telling a story that has been adapted from Comics. Much like most films in the NOM catogories are based on true events or books. So whats stopping them fron Nominating a Comic book, its a piece of literature.

Daniel Day-Lewis is a class act...and not just because he dedicated his award to a man he never knew except via his performances on screen, but because he's intelligent, eloquent and just classy all the way around. I'm glad he won because he gave the performance of his life in There Will Be Blood.

Yeah but if they give Heath even just a fraction of a Nom, then they must give a NOM to Bale for Best Actor, and maybe BEST PICTURE due in part you cant just say the supporting actor was the best part of a film. There has to be more involved. Its not like its some low budget joe doing this film. Or someone like MCG. This is Christopher Nolan, who makes a great film everytime out. This isnt just an ordinary action packed film based off a comic book. This is a man taking stories and making it one long story in 2-2:30 hours with action sequences.

Though most of what you said there doesn't make much sense, it's true that Bale is probably the best actor working today who's never even been nominated for an Academy Award. :csad:

Do you guys seriously think Bale's performance in Begins deserved a nomination?

How does it not make much sense though I can see it doesnt.

How can you Nom a supporting character, without Nominating anything else in it? Thats my question. Bale gives a performance of a lifetime in Begins and probually can only top it in TDK and its sequel if going to be done, but he wouldnt get a NOM, or Noaln for best Picture, or writer with his brother Jonah! I mean if they NOM Ledger for because of his death and a great performance I think it would truly undershadow everyone else involved. Cause they worked just as hard to give you a film experience of a comic character where they stayed true to the original writings, made fanboys happy, and made a picture anyone can enjoy espically if you like stories not just action packed summer films.

Yeah I do. At the least thats what it need. Not FX! or anything like that. Even picture could of been there. But its a summer film so no one looks at it like a Fall/Winter film.:brucebat:

I saw Ryan Gosling had a black ribbon on in honor of Heath.

Lewis will always be one of my favorite actors. And for what he said on Oprah was very emotional. He really wanted to work with Ledger in his words.

well he can make up for the fact that he never met ledger by playing the joker next. (as if)

hey i can dream, ok?

I love Daniel Day-Lewis, I truly thought he delivered a classy, and heartfelt speech.

As for Heath winning an Oscar at the '09 Academy Awards, I think it could be possible. I've thought all along that Heath deserved the Oscar, since the Oscars usually nominate actors that had to go to great lengths to do the role justice, and Heath has done that with TDK. And it isn't impossible for an actor to get nominated for a big budget blockbuster, one perfect example was Johnny Depp for the first Pirates. The Academy typically just want to honor actors that had to stretch to pull something off.

I agree. Ledger has truly created something great with his Joker.

Though I know Ledger will be quite amazing in TDK, we haven't even seen the film yet. I think it's a little early to be talking Oscar for him in 2009.

I think the academy is saving all their big votes for the end of the trilogy

Fans have already been talking Oscar for months. Get with the program. :cwink:

A la The Return of the King? Or perhaps not.

Agreed Rescue Dawn as well. Its a great film based on a true story!

I disagree......Steve Zahn, yes I think deserved a supporting actor nom for Rescue Dawn, but I don't think the movie, or Bale deserve a nomination. I felt the same way about Denzel in John Q.....I felt he deserved to WIN the Oscar for Best Actor, but I don't think anyone else in the movie, nor the movie deserved an Oscar nom.......

I am predicting that Heaths performance might get him a nomination for best Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars

The Bourne Ultimatum didn't get nominated for anything big. This isn't Lord of the Rings. It won't get that kind of recognition no matter how good it is.

and why do you think he deserved to be nominated????

Well, I think TDK will rule and the third and last film of the series will be most anticipated... I believe the final episode will get all big accomplishments, including Bale, and a mention to Ledger...
