so that rating might drop a couple of points by the time it hits DVD.

Until Del Toro releases the director's cut of it in an awesome three disc set to rival the first one. Probably with a little book that looks like the one John Hurt read out of at the beginning.

Great movie, beautiful creatures, awesome team dynamic between the characters going on. I'm going to comment on the music specifically though because no one has touched on this. I felt the B.P.R.D. theme was the absolute best track on the first film's score and I wish it had woven its way into the sequel because it absolutely defines the Hellboy universe for me.

Speaking of.. (and you guys might already know this), Wal-Mart currently has the three disc director's cut of Hellboy for $9 and a doublepack of the Hellboy animated movies for $10. GREAT deal! I already had the DVD of Hellboy, but at that price, I just couldn't pass it up. And of course, I got the animated ones too. Loved 'em.

All of the Wal-Marts here have that deal going on, so I'm assuming it's a national thing. If you guys don't already have the DC or the animated flicks, I'd check it out. And yeah, I can't wait for the DC of this film. :)

This movie was brilliant. I thought it was every bit as good as the first movie & that anyone who is looking for an action packed superhero story with a solid story should go to see this movie.

9/10

Yeah. I miss deals all the time. I have all of em already. Only special thing I got was a Hellboy figure with Blood and Iron. And got the DC on the double dip.

Although... it is Hellboy and he is my favorite character... so I was fine with it.

He's now one of my favorite characters as well. This movie is one of my favorites, definitely in my top 10.

When I heard the first was coming out, picked up Seed of Destruction...

Let's just say I've been hooked since and even have the Lobster Johnson trade.

Great movie. Very solid 8/10 for this one and I'm sure my appreciation for it will grow just like it did with Hellboy and Blade II (my 2 favorite comic book movies). I'm sure I missed so many little things that would only make me like it more but as of now, very funny, action is an upgrade over the first movie, and this movie is just as good as the first one. It felt like I was reading the graphic novels. You finish one good volume and then you read the next and you're pleasantly surprised with the consistency of quality.

My ONLY gripe is Elfman's score. I really miss Beltrami and I couldn't help but think how much better this movie would be with Beltrami's score instead of Elfman's halfassed generic stuff as of late. That is to say it was servicable but nothing memorable...I kind of cringed at Hellboy's first appearance because of Elfman's over the top score. In the first movie you just had this subtle guitar and drums and it worked. It was very subdued and kind of just let you sit there in awe of what you're beholding. In this one it's like Elfman was constantly yelling "Behold him! BEHOLD HIM! :cmad:"

Awesome movie. One of those movies that I see myself popping in at any time or sticking around to watch even if it's halfway through on tv. I love movies like this. 8/10 hopefully upgraded to a 10/10 someday.:up:

Man, this movie can truly be considered one of the best, along with the first Hellboy. As usual, Perlman was a joy to watch. Plus, they really stepped up the action & the story was superb.

I know people get jummped on when they do not go with the flow..

But I thought it was.. average I guess.

The creatures were nice and well done, very well done in fact.

The acting I found to be pretty bad, especially, (sorry if I forgot thier names) that fire chick.. she was pretty bad.

The editing was not so good either.

The only real good thing (for me) was the guy who played the Elf Prince to me that guy carried this movie on his shoulders, great acting and great fights (if a double was use or not who knows same with cgi) but still every single scene this guy was in it was gold, heck even I believed in his cause and wanted him to win ;)

Seeing how they did the creatures and the Elf prince and how he fights makes me want someone to make a certin movie involving a certin Drow Elf.

Well, to each his own but I thought everything about the movie was good, especially the monsters. I expect to see even more badass monsters in the third film.

I have so many thoughts about the film, I suck at that whole "structure" thing, so I'm just going to vomit it all out below....

First things first, HB2 = greatest use of the Manilow ever. I mean I was head over heels in love with del Toro before this, but that little nugget had me rolling, I was literally this smiley ---> :woot:, personified. Beautiful.

Doug Jones. You're such a beast, quite literally in some cases, I just can't imagine anyone else as Abe. As much as Perlman completely owns and becomes Red, Doug IS Abe and his expanded screen time did wonders for the movie.

TROLL MARKET.
crazy. crazy. really. crazy. wild. stuff. going. 90. miles. an. hour. in. your. face. all. in. your. eyes. spitting. awesome jelly. sauce. in. your. face.
^Pretty much sums up that scene. So much happening on screen, so incredibly fast, yet detailed to the extreme.

If you haven't guessed it by now, I really love this movie. Like crazy school girl crush in love with this movie. It's packing so much heart and that's what I dig the most.

Also I can not stress enough on how much cooler the Manilow was the second time. Perfect closing credit song. I'll wait however long it takes, just give us one more Hellboy, ok Guillermo? OK?:cmad:

That singing scene had my theater rollin'. The only thing about the first hellboy I would put over this one is the score, and only for one reason. THE THEME. I loved Beltrami's Hellboy theme. I don't know if Hellboy had a theme in this one. Everything thing else I found an improvement.

I loved the movie and give it a 9/10. And I agree Goug Jones as Abe was better than the other guy. but for me Krauss stole the show and has become my favorite character and I don't think anyone could have played him better than Seth. Also I'm wondering how they're going to do the sequel now that they left BPRD and Liz is Pregnant. I'm just hoping thay inroduce Roger in the next one.

Anyone else like that that one guy from the first got sent to antarctica?

I friggin' clapped when I heard that Myers was transfered actually. :woot:

And I think the BPRD will still get involved. Probably form some rival group including The Homunculus and Kate Corrigan. It'll probably be everybody vs Hellboy with his kids being the only ones that can stop him or something.

That's if we even get a sequel. I kind of like this ending.

I just got back from it. Loved it all. I enjoyed the first one quit a bit but this one is like Hellboy 1 x 10 = Hellboy 2. Much more action. Loads more characters. Even more humor. The pacing seemed quite fast but I guess it needed to be to cram all the stuff into one flick. Which was fine.

Definitely the best of the summer so far. Tho people disagree with my taste it seems. I thought Iron Man was average (yet it got rave reviews). Hulk was decent, nothing special...don't plan on watching it again.

(Reserved for the Dark Knight) > Hellboy 2 > Wall-E > Iron Man > Hancock (not horrible suprisingly) > Hulk

Hellboy and Iron Man are both on top for me. I enjoyed both immensely for different reasons and don't plan on pitting one against the other. I'm sure I'll love TDK but I doubt I'll have as much fun as I had with IM and HB, and thus it wont take the top spot for me this summer.

Yep.

I'm willing to bet that the BPRD will come to Hellboy and Liz (who will be living a very domesticated life) to stop some new enemy.

I haven't looked to see what other people thought of the movie and frankly don't care. I've seen the first Hellboy a ton, it stands as one of my all time favorites. And I felt Hellboy 2 completely blew it away. It was freaking awesome. :) Seriously one of my all time favorites.

couldnt agree with you anymore, did you know Doug Jones wasnt just Abe, he was the angel of death and another couple characters. hes the man.

Loved it. Just as before, Perlman played the part to a "t". Hellboy himself was hilarious, tough-as-nails, yet vulnerable. The part where he gets drunk and gets Abe tipsy too was great. His reaction to hearing "the news", both times, was golden (no pun intended). Because of this movie, Hellboy has once again moved up my list of favorite heroes.

Abe made a great sidekick in this film. I felt his role was a little bigger this time, a little more significant to the story. He was more 3-dimensional this time around. His voice sounded different (I haven't looked into it - but I'm sure its not the same actor doing the voice-over), but it still seemed to fit him and it wasn't a terribly noticable change (ie Spinter in the TMNT films).

Liz was given more screentime, and was definitely more badass this time around. Like Abe, she also seemed more 3-D. No complaints here.

I loved everything about it actually. The monsters, the new characters, the jokes, the badass main antagonist, and the Eels' "Beautiful Freak" making it into the film. It's easy to see that this film had a lot of heart put into it and was handled with care. Del Toro is a perfectionist and it shows.

I'll be honest here. This movie is a keeper. It gets a 10/10.

Man, just remembering this movie I'm already upgrading it to a 9. I really have to watch this again.

Yeah, I missed him. Rupert Evens who played John Myers. I just rewatched the first film to get ready for this one and I liked his character a lot. He was notably absent. Maybe they couldn't get him to come back?
