Horror "Hellraiser" Remake

I wasn’t interested before but I am now. Jamie Clayton is terrific.

Do people still care about Hellraiser?

I do because i think the concept is pretty neat.
But its been a long time since Hellraiser was good.
I think its hard to get right, but the potential is there for Hellraiser to be something incredible creepy and strong.

Anyway...when i heard the casting i was going "Finally" because it is one of the best ways to expose the clowns that just scream "Woke" etc for the sake of it.
All the "respect the source material" etc idiots, expose themself so very well with this, im loving it.

Im more excited thanks to the casting than before, give it to me right now.

So... There is no inbetween, either you approve this casting and you're good, or you don't and you're stupid.

I approve of the casting. Never seen Clayton in anything other than Sense8, but I really liked her there.

I mean if someone disapproves of this casting, that's their choice. But I haven't exactly seen a lot of, "I don't think she fits, but good luck to her. Hope she works out.". No they make it pretty clear, whether by saying it outright or not, that they are bigots. And for me, that makes you not just stupid, but a hateful person.

I dont care about the casting one way or the other. Hellraiser just hasn't been good in ages (only the first 2 are worth watching IMO), and this being a straight to Hulu thing doesn't inspire confidence. But if buzz around it is good, I will watch it eventually.

Yeah, Hulu is the main thing that gives me pause because the horror films I’ve seen on there weren’t good. But maybe they’ve gotten better. I meant to watch that one with Ilana Glazer and Pierce Brosnan but haven’t gotten around to it. Anyone know if it was good?

And yeah, Hellraiser hasn’t been good in a long time but Clayton’s casting makes me excited. As a hardcore Sense 8 stan, I try to catch anything the Cluster appears in. And Jamie is just great in everything.

And oh yeah, the people complaining about Hellraiser being “woke” are the same ones who said the same **** about the new Candyman. And then of course you have the sneakier ones who come up with some silly argument as to why the casting is bad (“Uhhh… she’s never played a villain before! So it probably won’t work!”) This one is especially amusing because the genre movie fan community always seems to clamor for unknowns and/or “out of the box” choices to be cast in these types of roles yet some of those same people curiously get all up in arms when you change the race or gender of a character. We see you, bigots. We know exactly what you’re doing.

I actually watched the first two for the first time last month. I only really liked the first one. That said, the concept is fun, so hopefully they do something neat here.

This going straight to Hulu doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence either not to mention the bad track record this franchise has had over the years outside of the first two movies, but man you got David Bruckner directing this bad boy who made two really solid horror films with The Ritual and The Night House.

I'm not familar with Jamie Clayton but I do wish her all the best in the role and hearing you guys say some really positive things about stuff that you have seen her in also sounds like a good sign IMO.

The only other thing I'm a bit worried about is whatever David S. Goyer brings to this in terms of writing but hopefully there is someone that can keep him in check on this.

I will say, SyFy has given me a bit more of a caution optimism. Their Leprechaun reboot was pretty good, with good gore. And their new Slumber Party Massacre looks to be the same.

Can't say I care about Hellraiser as a franchise, but I think the concept is fascinating. So I'm curious what they're going to do with it.

No opinion on Clayton. They're gender-swapping the character? Or it will be some new cenobite?

"This extra-dimensional demon who was androgynous in the source material MUST be explicitly gendered as a man" is certainly a hilarious new low for certain crowds. You love to see it.

I've never followed this franchise, but now they have my attention.

There's a new Slumber Party Massacre?

No it will actually seemingly closer to the source material in which the character(which is a hell dimension Demon kind of being) was presented as Androgynous.
If i remember correctly, the character even had a feminine voice.

I see. I read the novel long time ago, don't remember details like this. I guess for me it was enough that they were otherworldly enough.

The front page article comments section is, strangely for once, actually pretty positive toward this. Even normally “critical” ones are voicing support, while getting downvotes, and the others still accusing this of being “woke” are attacking their own, while getting downvoted to oblivion. Not so supportive of their own kind when the chips are down, huh? :funny:

It’s really weird, but with it being Halloween season and all, it’s kind of fitting.

There's a guy on YouTube called Mr H who's gimmick is to rally against wokeness in film and tv, but he's also a big Hellraiser fan. He called Clayton's casting on point based on the source.

It’s almost like we momentarily entered some bizarro world where the usual complainers actually support a casting decision that would typically be considered “woke” by them on any other occasion.

Not that I’m complaining, though. It’s just weird to see the hypocrisy.
