Justice League Henry Cavill IS Clark Kent/Superman - - - - - - Part 15

True True. Obviously, I can't speak for everyone's theater experience, but my crowd loved the movie and it was a family crowd. I imagine that the average moviegoer probably enjoyed themselves at this movie but a) not enough people wanted to give it a chance in the first place and b) the GA liked the movie but wasn't passionate enough about it to spread word of mouth and see it multiple times. Sometimes there are movies you enjoy but you don't necessarily need to see it again. But, yes, for sure, the people who did see this got much more mileage out of it than BvS.

Totally.. I LOVED the Supes stuff as I have said here earlier, and the other stuff was mostly ok to good. I am not big on CGI stuff so it was not a problem for me. Cyborg and Aqua-bro were kinda the lesser of the main guys for me and Flash was good even though I felt he was too similar to Peter Parker, coz I like that character and its fun to have a DC equivalent and Miller's comedic timing is really good. I think you nailed it when you said people enjoyed the movie when they watched it, but it was not something that they would watch again and again or recommend highly to someone else. Its too bad that it was all WB could salvage out of a movie or property with this much potential though.

If Whedon rewrote and re-shot almost 50 % of the movie shown in theaters, he gets the proportionate blame (if not more, as he changed the music composer and had a part to play in movie's editing too)

Stop and actually consider, just for two seconds, Whedon's role in this. He was handed something with a broken foundation, a fast-approaching deadline, and a clear direction to take everything in a complete 180.

I'm not going to defend a good deal of the choices he made because a fair amount of them were terrible, but you're delusional if you think him and Snyder share equal blame. They don't. Zack Snyder crippled this film and this franchise with his vision, and it isn't Whedon's fault that it couldn't be saved.

If I were to rank blame, Warner Bros comes in first, then Zack, then Joss.

Zack's the kid who finds a machine gun and goes buck wild with it. Warner Bros is the irresponsible parent that leaves it out in the open for him to find in the first place. I like MOS, I'll cop to that, but even with that being true, I think it was a good piece of evidence to support the argument that he's not the guy to bring Superman to the screen. And yet Warner Bros just decided to keep throwing more and more characters at him. "People didn't care for the tone? They thought Superman seemed joyless? Well, sure, Zack! By all means, make him even more standoffish and potentially dangerous this time around, to support the clash he and Batman get into later on. Though be sure to haphazardly shove in as many JL cameos as you can! Video clips? HA! Sure, go for it."

The videoclips seem like the most obvious afterthought to going right into Justice League; the most obvious WB mandate. The order of events is that he likely did want WW in BvS. He added the Knightmare scene because test audiences didn't get how insane Batfleck was. And then comes this sequel needing to lead to the big now completely botched team-up flick.

Absolutely. That was one of the most harmful bait and switch, idiotic cuts/changes to the movie. It was a decision that came across as thinking lightness of tone meant lightness of meaning. Light tone can come from moments of emotion, of heart, of pure beauty, and from jokes. It's like they doubled down on empty calories. Aesthetics and heart gone for the sake of misplaced humor.

Yep.

Wb had a canvass and gave it to Zack to paint. He did. We dont know how he did, but considering MOS and and BvS UC it was atleast coherent, visually great, had great action, more humor and had a single unified vision that said something.

Then WB brought in a completely different painter, and he spilled q load of paint over it with a hurried and misplaced way and botched it. WB knew what they were getting with Joss. So its firmly on both of those parties. Its just a shame because its the fans who lose.

I am sorry but how are any of those things "considering MoS and BvS UC?" Like Snyder all you want but this vilification of Whedon now is just beyond pathetic.

Art is subjective and you're well within your right to like Snyder's "art" (in Snyder's case I use the term very loosely) but I personally think that WB gave Snyder a canvass and he painted a portrait of superman that divided fans and critics and sold poorly considering it's potential. After that WB persisted and gave Snyder another, bigger canvas to paint batman and the rest of the DCEU and he ended up drawing a s*** show and yet WB still persisted and Snyder yet again painted a horror show (apparently) so WB finally woke up and brought Whedon to paint over snyder's mess but the result was sadly a bright and colorful mess.
I don't blame Whedon because you can't build something worth while on the rotten foundations that Snyder established and to be honest I can't blame Snyder because he did exactly what WB hired him to do, the blame rests solely on WB for being art loving monkeys i.e. wouldn't recognize good art if it bit them in the tail.

That opening cellphone bit definitely got the movie off on a wrong foot for me. I never recovered from it. Not only did it look so bad that it made me feel embarrassed for Henry, the film, and Snyder who would be horrified by such ugly aesthetics, but it also didn't work as a transition from BvS to JL. What made it worse is that the filmmakers were more interested in showing Superman interacting with the public and exuding hope (with dumb lines about hope) before his death than afterward. I wanted to see the public's reaction to Superman being alive again and to see their reaction to the Justice League, but the end of the film didn't have any of that. Maybe it never did, but it annoys me that in reshooting things they chose to insert the cellphone scene instead of doing something with Superman's return.

This. It's the reason I haven't rewatch the movie and don't plan to buy it. The CGI made me feel so embarassed.

And now that you mentioned it, I would have loved to see Superman interacting with the public after he came back from the dead.

I would have loved that too. That would have been the mature and sensible thing to do imo, if you're brought in to improve the film. If the film didnt have a scene of the world reaction to these new heroes, and Superman(which apparently there was)...that should have been added. Not the ****** intro.

Interesting you feel that for me and yet you don't feel the first hand embarrassment of your own posts in this thread so far. Well, to each his own. Since you seem to be obsessed with memes, this is how you come across:

And laughing memes are not hard to find by the way. Found a better one for you too...

I've used the exact parent/child metaphor in regards to WB and Zack. They're certainly the ones to blame. My distaste for his films is well-documented, but I can only get so mad at Zack for making the movie he was hired to make.

that escalation tho

So basically, when you dont have an argument this is what you do? I assume that works out well for you in real life too. :p

So we're just going to discount everything else she says and does in the film...the bravery and tenderness she shows in confronting the reborn Superman, the concern she shows for Clark, the way she's willing to sacrifice her happiness for the world's safety, and the hopeful message she delivers to humanity...because another character calls her "thirsty?"

What is there to discount? Here's a breakdown of what Lois does in the movie:

1. Weep in bed
2. Chat to Martha
3. Weep at heroes park
4. Hug Clark
5. Weep in a cornfield
6. Help Martha carry furniture into the Kent house
7. Wax poetic about heroes

Lol am I wrong for liking the "thirsty" line? It caught me offguard but I thought it was funny, granted Zack would never have put that in his movie.

I thought it was awkward and out of place. In a movie so short of time, where so much awesome stuff was left on the cutting room floor, when unnecessary fluff like this is left in, its baffling.

The thirsty line was fine I just find it almost comical to deny that Lois' character was shafted compared to MOS and BVS and to inflate her accomplishments like that... She did basically nothing.
