Sure they don't need to. But still my opinion it should be fresh clean start so it has no hangups and have a fresh start.

Clever writing. Star Trek TNG films had vague familiarity with the likes of the Borg and Data's history without being a slave to the continuity of the old show. What i'm saying that if the writers are good they can figure out a way to have self contained stories in the films bringing characters forward without dwelling too much in the past. I'd rather a somewhat established Superman in the new film ie I don't need to see him meet everyone for the first time again.

Nail on the head

im sorry web but i think most disagree. not trying to pick a fight but enough with reboots and rehashes. this is sups last chance on the big screen, do it right this time. tom deserves his chance.

Well yea we all have our views on things. As I said I def would want to see tom/erica and all. But the film should be fresh and new and all that. As for remakes/reboots some are annoying others are ok in my book. As for origin with the film being a new take on character it should have its own take on the mythos. Now the only thing is to no waste to much time on it to we get to full supes. I still think go like tih opening and flashbacks within the film could work well. Or just take 10-15mins and get it done in short time.

I gotta agree with Webhead on this one. Smooth, you're right. This is Superman's last chance to get it right. That's why they should stick with the original mythos IMO.

Totally I as I been saying for yrs now since sr it needs to be a total clean slate.

Well aparently Snyder has confirmed to the News Of The World that after seeing an online campain from fans of Brandon Routh, that he WILL consider Routh for Superman in the new movie.
If this is true, one more reason for me to stick to my guns and help those that aren't afraid to shut up and make their feelings known about wanting Tom to be Superman in this movie. It seems they aren't so immune to online campaigns.

well, time to start making our own noise then. Uhg, I told myself not to get dragged into this again.

You're probably not aware that News of the World is one of the worst tabloids in the UK.

That's bad publicity for everyone involved lol.

They're full of ****.

WB had their chance at a remake with superman returns and it failed for alot of fans. they should just make some fans happy and make an after smallville movie with the current cast... at least tom, erica & micheal. i have a good feeling it would do well at the box office.

Smooth, the truth is that we don't know. As i said before, We have to remember that Smallville is not the most important show of tv.

We, (Smallville fans) althouth loyal, are very few to make a huge diference at the box office...

In the end, i believe thta Snyder will choose someone that will appeal to the general public....

I would not believe in that Bruce... News of the World is THE worst tabloid in UK...

I think that Welling has a better chance (althouth small) than Routh to be considered...

I think Welling would be an safe and easy choice to go with, he's already recognized as Superman to the general public. With 10 years of exposure, whether or not you watch the show, people know. Superman Returns was only in the theater for a short time, I'd bet if you put the 2 up in regular clothes and asked John Q. Public with guy is Superman, they'd pick Welling. That said, I think Routh did a fine job with what they gave him to work with, so either would be a fine choice in the end.

I know it's a tabloid guys but we've all heard about the stories of Routh having the support of Alan Horn (his best man at his wedding) so I wouldn't be surprised that this is true, I'm sure that Horn could make pressure for Snyder to at least consider Routh.
Plus the article does quote Snyder and it's already been posted on Routh's official site.
Many fans including me, are already leaving messages and posting manips of Tom at Snyder's facebook page.
At the very least he should consider Tom, if he's considering "the other guy".
Those of you who believe in this cause, I suggest you join the fight, it ain't over till it's over. As much as other try to tell you it won't/can't happen, if in your heart you believe in this matter as much as I do and feel that Tom is this generation's Superman and the one to do justice to the character, please don't lower your arms and let your voice be heard. At the very least, if it doesn't work you can say you gave it your all.
I mean, what would Superman himself do ? ;0)

Link me up to Zack Snyder's facebook page. Gotta join in on this. :woot:

Why not Tom Welling and Erica Durance. I'm tired of the old baggage excuse and people wanting something new and fresh. Don't just change for change's sake. Some people act as if those two are the worst actors who have dared to be actors. They have experience and knowledge of the characters. Tom and Erica have great chemistry, that comes across very well on screen. Why wouldn't you want that in your movie. Smallville is their screen test. You know what you have, you don't have to hope that the actors develop this chemistry over the filming of the movie. These two need to get these roles if they want them.

I'm not sure what stories you heard, but you're letting your imagination run away with you.

Sure, if it didn't sound totally fabricated. There's no such thing as a groundswell.

and it's already been posted on Routh's official site.

Unofficial fansite perhaps, and that doesn't hold any relevance lol.

Bruce from what it looks like that mag is just tabloid trash. If snyder really said that, it would be all over the big entertainment sites. Plus that conflicts with his other statements. I am sure the film will be a total fresh start and all new fresh cast.

Plus the article does quote Snyder...
  • In 2005, England footballer David Beckham and his wife Victoria brought a legal action against [The News of the World] seeking libel damages over an article that carried the headline: "Posh and Becks on the Rocks." • In April 2006, England footballer Wayne Rooney received £100,000 in damages from the publishers of The News of the World and its sister paper The Sun over articles falsely reporting he had slapped his then-fiancée and now wife, Coleen. Both had always denied the reports.
  • In June 2006, England footballer Ashley Cole received damages from the publishers of The News of the World over articles incorrectly alleging the footballer had used a mobile phone as a gay sex toy. Sheridan won the case and was awarded £200,000 in damages. The newspaper intends to appeal against the jury's decision, and has refused to pay out the money; Sheridan and several associates have been charged with perjury; the court case commenced on 4 October 2010.
  • In January 2010 Norwich City Football Club started legal proceedings against the News of the World after they published an article, "Canaries on Brink" on 24 January 2010 claiming that the club had begun the processes of going into administration
  • In February 2010, the Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie made plans to sue the News of the World after it published allegations about their relationship.

So much win there.

Nolan (and most likely Snyder) are NOT going to be swayed by fan-casting, for or against.

http://danielcraigisnotbond.com/ called. They want their shtick back. :p

Unless my memory is wrong, didn't Chris Nolan cast Christian Bale as Batman due to the level of fan support for him?
