Here We Go Again Part 3: New Welling As Superman Rumors?

Yeah I'm not Holding out much hope for Welling either. But I haven't completely given up just yet

I really want him picked, but the chances are slim. But I'll still hold on to that fanboy hope I have. :D

You can look at the possibilities of him being picked though:

Smallville is ending. It won't conflict with him playing Superman in the movie like it has in the past. TW has said he was open to the idea. TW is probably at the age they're looking for to cast Superman. Zack Snyder has made a bunch of money for WB, Smallville most likely has too, (as mentioned by another user in this thread.)

*hope*

There's an obvious predudice against smallville there because even though routh is out of the running the Mods haven't moved the thread and and are getting on to the people saying it should be moved

Yep...you're right...I hate Smallville....the only reason I have all seasons on DVD is to find more ways to make fun of Smallville fans.

I apologize but it really does feel that way over there sometimes, even if you aren't one of the ones doing it.

You can only vote once on the other one as well

New poll on www.supermanhomepage.com (where you can only vote once ;0)
Right now, Tom is winning. It's who would you take if it was your choice, Tom or Brandon.

You also have to be a member, and in the past the members there were well known for being anti-welling. A more public (non-fan site), one time voting poll would be a nice poll to see.

That's exactly what the EW poll was

It's a bit better now. Some of the haters are now supporting Welling and you see more and more frequent posts demanding Tom for the Superman movie.

Welling, Welling, Welling.

To C.Lee that's dumb unless your rich to buy and watch something so you can make fun of others....sigh

Someone mentioned a few pages back that Tom didnt want to do Smallville at first because he thought that it was going to be about Superman and that he didnt want to do a show where he would be wearing the suit... He said the main reason at first that he didnt want to do the show was because he thought it was going to be Superman in High School.... It had nothing to do with him not wanting to play the role of Superman... Imagine how horrible the show wouldve been had he been wearing the costume back in high school.. LOL

So in closing... Welling didnt want to play Superman the High School years... He was not rejecting the idea of playing an established Superman

You can post that a thousand times here (and it probably has been), but there will STILL be people who claim that Tom has no interest in playing Superman.

Even with the latest interview from SDCC where he states clearly that "he's always been open to it" some people will still claim to know exactly what Tom feels about playing Superman.

It's a bit maddening, but as always, people tend to hear and read what they want to believe is true. The truth is, no one but Tom, and probably his wife knows exactly what he feels. And until someone actually makes him an offer, he may not even be sure himself. D'uh.

I think Welling is now seeing how Michael Rosem is not really doing anything after Smallville an is now leaving his options open. I know for a minute he was dreading wearing that suit but now he's very open to it.

To their credit, I did post that Welling manip by my friend in the Art and Manip thread over there and it hasn't been yanked - although one person complained about it.

So I'm glad to know he's not totally banned in the Superman forum - only when it comes to casting apparently.

Would someone explain my post to him.....I would, but I don't want to have to ban myself for how I would reply.

I just dont get why people are trying to decipher what he says instead of taking what he actually says at face value?

Well he clearly says in this interview that if he stays out of the tights he might stand a chance. go to the 6 min mark.

Still grasping at straws, I see. That was from 2005, when The Fog was coming out. Add 5 more years of playing Clark Kent to that, along with 5 more years of experience in the industry, and do you really think you know exactly how he'd feel about playing Superman on the big screen now? Again, hearing what you want to hear.

Tom's also been quoted in interviews talking about going to Ratner's house to discuss a Superman movie, and like I said, if you insist on relying solely on what's come out of his actual mouth - I refer you to the most recent comments from SDCC where he said he's always been open to it. But he also added, very honestly and SENSIBLY, that it's just not that simple of a thing to talk about or have happen.

These interviews are all PR, and in the case of that radio interview, more laughs than serious discussion.

I'd love to believe that Tom wants to play Supes on the big screen, but I think it's silly for anyone who assume they know what any of these actors really want. We'll know when we know.

There's always hope, I suppose.

Also if I'm correct, him being in a Superman movie back in 2005, may have meant that Smallville end.. Now that we all know that this is the final season, he wont have to worry about prematurely ending smallville so that he can play Supes on the big screen.

For almost 7 years now, it's the same old story:

1. Possible new Superman film project announced
2. Website posts a Superman casting poll
3. Welling crushes all others.
4. Spin-doctoring and excuse-making ensue.

YAWN....

He has also said & comment several times that he went to meet the then director of what turned into Superman Returns, Brett Ratner, at his home in LA.
Had he not even been remotely interested in the role, telling him a simple "No thank you" over the phone would have been the correct thing to do & would have saved him a flight from Vancouver to LA.

Also theres the fact that more recently ie within the last month, Tom Welling said he has & I quote "Never been against it."
