They need to pick the pace up. There's no excuse for so much filler in a 13 episode season.
Agreed. Two new mysteries introduced this week (identity of Tommy's parents and the manila envelope's contents), but none of the other ones have been resolved (who is katana girl's father, what happened to him? Where is the mechanic's nephew? What happened to Claire? Why is Noah's memory wiped?). By introducing new mysteries, without resolving any of the other ones, it makes the show feel as if it is running in circles and chasing its own tail. It needs to give the view an incentive to keep watching. Piling mystery ontop of mystery with no resolution does not do that.
Other thoughts:
- Tommy is clearly a Petrelli ("Nathan!"). Called it (sort of, I am leaning toward him being Peter's son now).
Matt said:
In closing, random theory time: teleportation kid is Nathan Petrelli's illegitimate son (much as Claire was his illegitimate daughter) and penny guy made the "promise" to protect him to Angela.
- This show is so very poorly acted outside of Zach Levi and HRG (and even he feels like he is phoning it in). It is funny, when penny guy came into the hospital room and remained calm, it felt like such a distinct break from the melodrama that had been the rest of the episode. These actors seem to think talking loudly equates to good, emotive acting. Right now the worst is either the Asian characters or blonde weather girl.
- Doesn't Noah have a fiancee with whom he resides?
- Does the mechanic have anything at all to do with the main plot? I lose interest any time he shows up. Same with Chuck. I enjoy his scenes (mostly because they are a refreshing break from the terrible acting), but it has nothing to do with the rest of the plot. We're half way through the season. Much as it is time to start resolving some of the hanging questions/mysteries, it is also time to start bringing the characters together toward a centralized plot. But aside from Katana Girl (ugh) meeting HRG, there is no indication that this is going to happen.
- Isn't it a sad testament to the state of this show that I cannot name a single character aside from Noah and Tommy (and only him because his name was such a huge focus of this past episode). These characters are so dull and forgettable.
- That said, all complaints aside, multiple man is pretty cool....but I still don't know his name...Mr. something.
- It is a shame that they didn't use the "Most Wanted Evos" screen to have some call backs to the original series. Mohinder was on there, but it would've been cool to just have a picture of Sylar, carnival guy, Nikki (or whatever the hell character she became in the show's later seasons), etc.
- So Hiro is "dead" also? This statement would've had a lot more impact if NBC did not use him in the trailer for the season...and for that matter a next episode preview three weeks ago. What was that all about?
- Is Renaltus lady really the big bad? I am waiting for something more...overwhelming. I mean, her plot is certainly dastardly (albeit a bit nonsensical), but in the end, it is simply a natural disaster. It doesn't feel like she is a real threat to any of the characters.
