Heroes Reborn General Discussion

They need to pick the pace up. There's no excuse for so much filler in a 13 episode season.

Agreed. Two new mysteries introduced this week (identity of Tommy's parents and the manila envelope's contents), but none of the other ones have been resolved (who is katana girl's father, what happened to him? Where is the mechanic's nephew? What happened to Claire? Why is Noah's memory wiped?). By introducing new mysteries, without resolving any of the other ones, it makes the show feel as if it is running in circles and chasing its own tail. It needs to give the view an incentive to keep watching. Piling mystery ontop of mystery with no resolution does not do that.

Other thoughts:

- Tommy is clearly a Petrelli ("Nathan!"). Called it (sort of, I am leaning toward him being Peter's son now).

Matt said:
In closing, random theory time: teleportation kid is Nathan Petrelli's illegitimate son (much as Claire was his illegitimate daughter) and penny guy made the "promise" to protect him to Angela.

- This show is so very poorly acted outside of Zach Levi and HRG (and even he feels like he is phoning it in). It is funny, when penny guy came into the hospital room and remained calm, it felt like such a distinct break from the melodrama that had been the rest of the episode. These actors seem to think talking loudly equates to good, emotive acting. Right now the worst is either the Asian characters or blonde weather girl.

- Doesn't Noah have a fiancee with whom he resides?

- Does the mechanic have anything at all to do with the main plot? I lose interest any time he shows up. Same with Chuck. I enjoy his scenes (mostly because they are a refreshing break from the terrible acting), but it has nothing to do with the rest of the plot. We're half way through the season. Much as it is time to start resolving some of the hanging questions/mysteries, it is also time to start bringing the characters together toward a centralized plot. But aside from Katana Girl (ugh) meeting HRG, there is no indication that this is going to happen.

- Isn't it a sad testament to the state of this show that I cannot name a single character aside from Noah and Tommy (and only him because his name was such a huge focus of this past episode). These characters are so dull and forgettable.

- That said, all complaints aside, multiple man is pretty cool....but I still don't know his name...Mr. something.

- It is a shame that they didn't use the "Most Wanted Evos" screen to have some call backs to the original series. Mohinder was on there, but it would've been cool to just have a picture of Sylar, carnival guy, Nikki (or whatever the hell character she became in the show's later seasons), etc.

- So Hiro is "dead" also? This statement would've had a lot more impact if NBC did not use him in the trailer for the season...and for that matter a next episode preview three weeks ago. What was that all about?

- Is Renaltus lady really the big bad? I am waiting for something more...overwhelming. I mean, her plot is certainly dastardly (albeit a bit nonsensical), but in the end, it is simply a natural disaster. It doesn't feel like she is a real threat to any of the characters.

There were a couple of things last episode that specifically bugged me (Levi's character wanted to atone but then set his house on fire, which could have killed somebody, and Katana girl attacking to get her sword back was an editing mess), but I'm still enjoying it. My favorite character is probably Emily (Tommy's female friend); I think she's very endearing.

Nikki (or whatever the hell character she became in the show's later seasons)

Tracy Strauss.

Finally all caught up on this. My god its Infamous Second Son. Very similar plotline with the evos being conduits and you have this military force, which would be the D.U.P trying to round them all up.

Erica = Augustine. I wonder if she will end up having her own powers

The teased enough for Hiro but I'm starting to think he's the most interesting part of the show.

Is it me or do most of the characters seem really generic? Tommy the typical highscool nerd who just wants to be normal, gets picked on by the bully and falls in love with his girlfriend :csad: Why not have somebody enjoying their powers for once and maybe be the bully themselves?

The Carlos guy is meh. What exactly is his personality? How come he knows all about fighting and how to use the suit? Is he a martial artist/soldier? Miko is honorable because she's Japanese :o

Luke is okay i guess but then the way him and his wife left thing was totally underwhelming. They are married, had and lost a kid together. You would think they would have at least a longer goodbye then just her getting out of the car. They're all so bland. Where are the Sylars, the Hiros, the mama Petrellis, the Claudes etc.

The thing i´m most excited about is the aurora girl´s power but the characters aren´t really doing it for me.

Former soldier. The suit was just a rubber suit. He added the armor, some other gizmo to fight the super strength dirty cop.

I'm liking the show, not loving it, liking it. It's so incredibly cheesy though. A bit hard to watch. I find the acting to be bad, minus a few.

But Tommy and Emily is so forced and predictable. They are such archetypes, I wince whenever they're on screen lol. Same with the Evernow stuff.

Dear lord this show is bad, in terms of writing, acting and as was especially glaring in this episode, the visual effects. I really have no idea why I continue watching it.

This show bores me which is weird for a show that feels overstuffed.

Enjoyed the episode, finally getting somewhere quicker.

Aight people I'm out. I tried, just can't get into this show.

Yeah. Just feels like a whole lot of nothing is happening. Even when something happened, all it got from me was "meh".

They did kill off that annoying bearded dude, so that was a plus.

Has no one noticed yet that the penny for your thoughts guy is the same actor from the original series who played that puppet master guy who could control people's actions.

No, this actor is Pruitt Taylor Vince. That was David H. Lawrence XVII.

Interesting that the evil lady is setting up shop in the post-fried Earth future.

Wonder if we'll be seeing Claire in the past that Noah and Hiro traveled to. If so, will it be Hayden or a recast?

Though she did nothing for me. That sucked for Miko.

That was much better, I thought the previous two before that one sucked. Finally getting somewhere as you say, actual stakes and more exciting. There's no way they're going to dare having another actress as Claire, that would be sort of insulting considering they brought back so many.

Excited to see Mohinder, Mama Petrelli and more Hiro, and soon Matt too.

Overall, it's a real mixed bag, I'll echo what mostly everyone says, it just feels lazily put together, it feels cheaper (shooting digitally will do that for you, compared to film on all previous seasons), it's less serious (not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but it feels goofier imo), the acting is pretty poor overall, it was one of the strengths of Heroes, so it's really surprising, a few storylines feel like they're going nowhere and are useless (like the latino priest, the hero and his nephew), but I guess they'll tie all that in at the end.

But overall, it still entertains me, I like watching it, but if you're talking quality, it's pretty poor, but it seems like it's going to hit another level soon. By the way, I dig all seasons of Heroes, even the 2nd, 3rd and 4th, never got the hate for those, season 1 obviously remains on another dimension.

I agree. Did they really need to waste time on another cliché embrace your destiny side plot. Thank god it only lasted one episode.

So not sure how much more episodes are left (stopped watching after the first episode), do you see them coming back next season? I'll do a binge watch once the season is over but right now I just can't get into it.

I think 7 episodes are left also no I don't see them coming back for a S2 and I think this would work better on Netflix. :yay:

This would work better if they got rid of Tim Kring. Guy obviously learned piss all from the last 3 seasons of the original series. Season 1 was clearly a fluke.

The ratings are terrible. Zero chance of another season.
