Hey look! I'm on some dude's crappy hatemail page!

Uh, MTV might play emo music, but only within the wave of other popular music that they play. MTV does not stand for "Emo Television", nor is it a channel specifically catering to emo kids.

That was an incredibly dumb statement.

 And even if it were, anyone who can get people to PAY them to make fun of those same people is a certified genius.

'Zactly.
It's funny, that already happens with X-Play (the only surviving TechTV show of the G4/TechTv merger) who regularly mock G4 programming and management.

aye.

I hope he makes a bazillion dollars.

Oh Jesus.

Show me where I said MTV was an exclusively emo channel. I did not say that. Don't put words in my mouth.

MTV are ********s. If I had some funny flash animations (and I've had some in my time, funnily enough years ago I did stick man animations just like the sellout), there is not a snoll balls chance in hell I'd ever let MTV buy them.

Would you?

The way I see it, it's a matter of pride, not being a hypocrite, and not being a greedy bastard.

Christ, do I have to paint a picture? You said that a guy who made fun of emo people was a hypocrite for selling his flash animations to MTV, the "people he makes fun of". Which implies that MTV is either exclusively or by the majority an "emo centered" channel.

And yes, I would. Do you know why? Because I worked hard to create flash animations that I found funny, and if national acknowledgement, large amounts of money, and a good job are what MTV would (assuredly) give my work, would I sell them? Hell yes. Don't act like you wouldn't you pseudo rebellious weenis.

KD, forget these silly threads and let's see some pics of you and DanVick . . . I'm thinking of developing a weekly comic strip based on your misadventures and need some photo reference

What makes Mtv a haven for sell-outs? Is it a crappy network? Yes. But no moreso than 3/4's of the crap that's on TV. It's an open market and if this guy is able to sell his work and make a little money off of it, then good for him. Doesn't matter who buys it from him. Even better if he can get the very people he's making fun of in his artistic endeavors to be the one's paying him for it. That's true guerilla artistry and social commentary in my mind.

You say that "it's a matter of pride, not being a hypocrite, and not being a greedy bastard." Way to project your own personal ideals on someone on the internet that you don't even know.

Can you feel love?:(

I wouldn't. I know I wouldn't. So that's the fundamental difference between me and you.

People attribute too much importance in money.

Dan Clowes wrote a damn funny story about this artist that gets a little bit of recognition, and he starts selling his art to big corporations to use in ads. Before the guy knows it, his art is on billboards everywhere, tv, posters, it's everywhere. But it's no longer his art.

It's also just pride. You don't sellout to a company that are *******s, and MTV are *******s.

God, you're such a dweeb. :down

ideally artists should never sell their art. If their motives were purely artistic then right when they finish a piece, they'd throw a sheet over it and lock it in a chest, away from the prying eyes of consumers and capitalist exploiters. Right?
I myself like the Kurt Cobain model: BE on the cover of Rolling Stone, wearing your "corporate rock magazines suck" T-Shirt.:)

jesus mate, you really need to sort out your life. stop stessing over these types of things, they dont affect how your life turns out. just relax and stop worrying about these stupid things.

also i never got the whole sell out thing, your at home doing what you enjoy and after a while someone wants to pay you to it, but that makes you a sell out. its a load of bull

Kaine is beefing about MTV but if his silly spagetti eatting ass ever walked infront of MTV studios in Times Square and saw the amout of chooch hanging out there... he wouldn't be crying about how "emo" they are.

That's pretty much what this guy is doing...however, this really isn't an ideal world and it's almost neccessity that artists sell their art if they want to make a living off of their craft, or if they wish to share their craft with others. Of course, there are exceptions, but that seems to be the way things are.

Perhaps this really all just boils down to good old fashioned jealousy?

I told him if he wants to get laid he should start a band but he said only shallow girls are attracted to musicians.
It'll be an amazing day when Kd finds a fellow human that actually measures up to his rigorous standards.

If only we could hook him up with Phantasm.:(

Does Kd have any interests or hobbys that involve the real world? Or other people?
I don't know. I think he goes jogging in the mornings.

I myself am now leaving to go record a song I wrote at work.
I promise I will not sell it to ANYone.
No one will hear it except for me, a handful of friends and my pissed off neighbors. This I swear.
