I thought it was cool how they showed the blood pool under him spreading out from under him.

Thank you for the caps, Father Sage. :)

:D LOL

stop going off topic.

You can't be serious....

Anyways, the best thing about this was the realism that this serious has lacked so much. I know, realism doesn't seem to make sense when refering to Superman, but something really grabbed me with the opening scene that saw the kid just simply blow those two guards away. Credit should go to him for have quite the little performance.

There is no way that was brilliant. Not only was it terribly written (It took on a Witches of Eastwick feel without the talent), it was terribly acted. I seriously believe Lana couldn't act her way out of a paperbag.

Well, I've explained my reasoning on liking the stones/witch storyline before so maybe you should go dig up my reviews from last season so I don't have to explain them again.

I did think it was brilliantly conceived, anyway, even if it wasn't always brilliantly executed.

This season is far and away so much better in any case, why linger on a sore subject in a thread that has really nothing to do with that?

Enjoy this season for the wonderful season it is!

I'm having a great time watching the Superman in Training year so far... it just keeps getting better and better.

:D

Sheesh..you'd think that we had 22 episodes of witches last season from all the disproportionate *****ing people do about it.

You know, I'm too happy about tonight's ep and where the show is now to argue about last season.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I was using my dislike of the witch-drama to contrast how much I like what's going on now (focusing on Kal-El). Besides, I don't see how it's '*****ing' if you just honestly didn't like something. Maybe small, unnecessary nitpicking qualifies as such, but simple dislike, I don't think so.

On a lighter note, I too am happy about tonight's episode and where it could possibly lead. Anybody see a certain bald-headed schemer gradually becoming uber-evil?

exactly so far for me each episode is getting better and better in their own way....

You're right, and I didn't mean to single you out, but I get so tired of people writing off S4 based on one element. There was so much about S4 that I liked and it tends to get overlooked.

The gloves have really come off for Lex. Especially in terms of the things he says to Lana. He's not exactly subtle in his trying to turn her against Clark.
Sadly, I think it's going to work.

Great Episode. Everyone got their chance to shine tonight......the jumping/flying was extremely kickass. Most of the show was top notch, the only parts that grated on my and my brothers nerves were the 'gaps'. Certain things that kinda make you go 'wuuuuuuuuuh?'....Oh well, Smallville is still a top 5 show for me. Tonights show reminds me why after last weeks episode.

Looking forward to keeping the momentum next week.

Glad you liked it, personally, its the reason I almost stopped watching at the time.

So Clark gets shot, dies in the hospital, disappears, comes back, and there's no explanation other than it being a miracle.....................uhh, come again??????? This "suspension of disbelief" thing with the smallville writers is getting WAY out of hand!!!!!

Not to be a *****e bag here….but:

I know when it cut to commercial after Clark had Lana in his arms you THOUGHT the show was over -- but you see, there was a bunch of stuff that came AFTER that commercial break. Like for instance a nice conversation between Lex and Lana questioning the absurdity of a miracle rebirth.

Maybe next week we can wait till the show actually ends -- seem like a plan?

How convenient was it that they didn't show him re-entering the atmosphere and landing back on the ground. Like he free-falled several hundred thousand feet and landed softly. Riiiiiiiight.
But he didn't land softly. He landed with a thud loud enough for Chloe to hear. There's a deep, muffled THUD vibration that Chloe hears in the missile silo when she sees that the rocket had a malfunction. Right after the thud, she realizes it was Clark and says his name.

The thud wouldn't have been the explosion in space since sound does not carry in a vacuum. The only "stretch" of belief would be how unlikely it would be that Clark would land back where he started. The Earth spins pretty fast, so it would be more likely for him to have landed in the Atlantic Ocean somewhere, but I'll cut 'em a break. It was cooler for him to land with a big ass thud outside the silo. LOL

PS: If Clark isn't over of his fear of heights now, he NEVER will be. Hee!

I thought of that too! Poor boy. I half expected to hear him screaming as he was falling back to earth. (I know I would have - invinsible or not!)

This was a fantastic episode. It hit me hard, just as Pariah did. I even rewatched it 3 times last night...not to mention the number of times the girls and I will watch it this weekend for our Smallville/The Fog girl's weekend!

Woot! (Hurry up Melly!)

I have mixed feelings about last night's episode. Can someone explaing to me what the deal with Lionel is? It's been confusing since the first episode of the season. He appears possessed by something and all of a sudden it's Jor-El? Please explain. . . .

Was Gabriel's reason to destroy Smallville was to get rid of all "freaks???

Clark's death/dissapearance reminded me alot of the Death and Return of Superman comic serires.

I think Clark should tell Lana. I doubt he wants to put a fake bandage to cover up his "scar" all the time.

The rocket scene reminded me a bit of STM (the rocket chasing scene) and Superman II, when Supes throws the elevator with bombs into space.

You don't need the spoiler tags, Venom... This is a spoilery thread and you should be proud to say that Tom Welling looked like Superman!

Good onya, buddy...

He did. He really, really did.

 :D

That scene where Chloe puts her hand on Clark's chest to feel where his bullet wound was healed was interesting.

The Sage's "bible study" pics post should include that, since it was like doubting Thomas feeling the scars in Christ's side after he was resurrected.

Jor-El explained it last night. When Lionel tocuhed the stone in "Commencement" when the other two had been united, he became a vessel of kryptonian knowledge that Jor-El could possess if Clark ever needed him.

When Clark flatlined, it activated that in Lionel and he was overtaken by Jor-El's consciuosness, thus the prison break and superspeed. Obviously, he's not "possessed" by Jor-El, as it seems he's in him subconsciously except when he's needed, as Lionel himself had no recollection of any of the events since he was "taken over" by Jor-El

She is quite short. My guess is 5 feet. imdb lists her at 5'4 but that just isnt possible. My gf is 5'4 and she doesnt lift off the ground that much and Im 6'4 as well.

Your mortal life has ended...be restored with your natural gifts...

Sorry to those who are turned off by them, but I loved the Christian allegories in this episode. I didn't think an episode could be as good as Rosetta, Onyx and Memoria, but here it is.
