I can't wait! Unfortunately, I have a commitment at work tonight so I probably won't get home in time. I'll have to wait until Friday :(

Enjoy, everyone!

That was AMAZING! I was a little misty eyed
when Laegertha rode away
.

Good start for the show

I was glad to see the young son once more. He was great in the episode. I'll miss that kid, but I look forward to seeing his older self. The previews looked really good.

Ragnar, such a sleeze, trying to schmooze in the second woman. Like the first wife would just roll with it. :p Then he's all like, why are you leaving?

Ah men....lolololol :woot:

I was cracking up when they were all at dinner and he's like.... "You know I love seeing you both together". Auslag, though, was in it to win it! She wasn't going anywhere! I really felt bad for Laegertha. Winnick did such a great job, and I LOVE that the son went with his mother. I was so glad when Bjorn changed his mind.

I was afraid when I read about the time job we wouldn't get to see what happened between Ragnar and Laegertha, so I'm glad this episode addressed it. It was a great premiere. I really enjoyed it.

pffftttt.........men!!

except me.

I'm not like that.

no way.

honest.

Scumbags, all of ya. :p I must say it made me think less of the guy and I really don't want to, Travis is one of my boys. I content myself with thinking Travis would never behave that way in real life, lol.

and the ironic thing is, isn't Ragnar wearing a raven symbol on his shirt?

I know that ravens are important in the Viking culture.

from what I've read, ravens generally are monogamous species and will mate for life.

apparently, Ragnar didn't get the memo.

Nice start.
Auslag: my father was The Siegfried, yeah right. This woman is poison as is the ex Yarl wife. Lagertha is the best.
Floki is invincible as if he is protected by the Force, err I mean Gods.
Ragnar son has a big mouth as usual, I wonder how he will be like when older and it looks like he payed the law giver to spare Rollo or was it Ragnar.

You think it was Bjorn who gave the law-giver the coin? I was sure it was Ragnar, but you have made me think about it....

I guess that is a mystery we will have to wait to find out the answer to.

do we even know for sure that Auslag is pregnant with Ragnar's kid??

and I forgot, but why did Ragnar sleep with Auslag again? was it because Lagertha said she couldn't have kids anymore?

and was Ragnar hoping for another son with Auslag??

I think that was pretty much it, he knew Lagertha couldn't have children so he got busy with the princess.

This was an excellent start to the season, open with a rip-roaring battle, some humor, drama, all great stuff. My favorite moments were when Ragnar burst out of the battle to confront his brother, and the look on Ragnar's face when he sat between his wife and the princess for the first time.

Don't think less of him. He and his moral code are a product of his culture, as are we all.

This is from a psuedo-academic blog about viking culture:
"...Nor was the groom expected to be monogamous.”
After all, the gods were not monogamous. They had children with many different women.

That said, I much prefer Lagertha to this new woman so far. Lagertha is awesome, and I hops she still has a sizable role in the series.

Good start to the season. I'm glad it's back!

I will have to see that scene again where Ragnar show the gold coin to his son. I think Bjorn kept it.

#1 yes, they mated at the Gods ceremony in the last season
#2 she is beautiful, a princess and he was horny
#3 he was not expecting her to get pregnant I think but Ragnar's seed seems to be very strong ( I think History says he had many sons ).

I assumed it was Ragnar who paid the guy. It stands to reason Ragnar would have more than one coin, I think the point of the scene with Bjorn was to establish that the coin is worth "a fortune."

I agree. I thought it was Ragnar since he also seemed unsurprised by the not guilty verdict.

I watched the scene again. It is not clear that Bjorn kept the coin or not.
Anyway I don't think the point was to show that it worths a fortune because that has no significance to the story, it is not important.
The point was to show that either Ragnar or his son payed the law giver to spare Rollo. I think the former did it.

Well someone paid the law-giver with a coin... I actually think we could be surprised because my first thought was the former Jarl's wife had did it. Not sure how she got the coin, but she seems to be the only one invested in Rollo.

Yet, I agree with James that the scene between Ragnar and Bjorn was to show the planting of Bjorn's avarice. He also apparently becomes blood thirsty and greedy as he gets older.

Greedy and blood thirsty is the trademark of all vikings in this show :)
I don't think the ex wife did it.

You do have that right, Sir Xavier....they are all greedy and blood thirsty. I really like that the History channel isn't afraid to show a little gore and blood with the show. It's like they took the best from their documentaries and said... "Let's show blood now".

I'm not sure who gave the coin, but my first thought was the Jarl's wife and not Ragnar or his son. Though my second thought was it was Ragnar.

I don't think it's the old Yarl's wife because the coins are Ragnar's spoil. She should not have access to them.
I still wonder why she cares for Rollo, does she genuinely care for him or does she uses him to fulfill her revenge against Ragnar ? Until then, she is a snake as far as I am concerned.

I remember a thought I had during the opening battle, Rollo was a Berserker, nude torso, no armor, full of rage and decimating everyone in his path. Good stuff. I also like the strong bond between him and Ragnar, both of them could not kill or let kill the other.
