Hitman: Absolution

lol I don't think it's aimed at adolescent's. There no teen or under that finds Nuns hot . it's only those over the age of 40 and up that enjoy that in their porn fetish's video/ movies. It's too obscure for any one of that age range and in the age range of early 30's even and under that know nuns will never be hot in there minds/ eyes. especially if you ever been in a school run by them. It's to be avoided period. Unless your that odd type, other wise, it's what i said above it's a 40's and up fetish thing.

Sorry, But it's true. But I do agree with you they should have seen the controversy coming. They mostlikely did too and are of the mind that controversy is a good thing. Out dated logic from the 80's marketing practices.

Anyway I wasn't personally offended but there's really no point of the trailer, it's loud and action-packed which goes against what's usual in the Hitman games and it feels like it's obviously catering to adolescent audience. It's not a bad idea to include some context, especially if it's needed in the first place. I don't know why I'm making a big fuss about this when I'm still looking forward to the game but that trailer was just terrible to me.

Not only was i less than 'not offended' by the trailer, but i didn't even mind it. I thought it was pretty cool seeing 47 bust all those assassins up. Now, with that said, i thought it was REALLY f***ing weird and it came out of no where, but i liked seeing 47 show off some of his talents. Iv never been worried about the type of game we were getting, even with all the action packed trailers and linear levels they showed early on. I always knew we'd get classic Hitman gameplay and i was right.

Yeah, it's just that criticism doesn't have to be a bad thing, especially if something, in this case backstories and context stands in a position where it'll gain from being reworked and improved. I don't think it'd make it less ridiculous than it is but I won't let this one issue I have with the marketing make an impact of the overall game, which is shaping up good and the new additions like the instinct mode aren't bad since it'd make the game more accessible for newcomers, still don't know why they're taking their time to announce who's voicing 47, part of me wish it's because they changed and actually got Bateson back for the role, one could dream.

Yea I'm still scratching my head on that as well. Not sure why they haven't told us who will be voicing 47. Like u I'm holding out the slightest of hopes that Bateson is attached.

Hitman: Absolution 'Contracts' can't cross platforms, but community can crack code

Due to "political" issues, Hitman: Absolution's "contracts" won't be transferable across platforms for developer IO Interactive to feature, but there is a way for the community to do it. The recently revealed contracts mode is a major part of Absolution's package – receiving co-billing on the title screen with the campaign – but we wanted to know if IO could help promote prominent challenges accomplished by the community on one platform for another.

"We'll have to deal with something within the political rules that allow us to do that," Torben Ellert, game designer on Hitman: Absolution told us. "We're interested in featuring community contracts so that we avoid that whole wasp's nest."

The way to do that will be for the community to decode the file numbers of contracts after the game's launch. Contract IDs begin with a two-digit number, determining their platform (currently 03- PC, 05- Xbox, 07- PS3), with the following set of digits expressing rules of the scenario.

"[Contracts] was built in a way for people to asynchronously share things," said Ellert. "The trick is you have to do it yourself. You have to be able to pull it off yourself."Hitman: Absolution (Gamescom 2012)

YES! Bateson is indeed returning to voice 47.

From their Facebook page:

After a long search IO Interactive are pleased to unveil that the voice of Agent 47 will once again be acted by David Bateson who has been the voice of Hitman since the year 2000 with the seminal PC release Codename 47. Alongside Bateson, William Mapother (star of hit TV series LOST) has performed the motion capture work for Agent 47 which was recorded at Giant Studios.

Speaking about the decision to return to Bateson after the studio earlier declared he wouldn’t be the voice of 47 in Hitman: Absolution, Brand Director Jon Brooke said “IO and Bateson have been bed fellows for over a decade and like all long running relationships sometimes absence makes the heart grow fonder. Looking back I think we were just playing hard to get.”

Both Bateson and Mapother now join a long list of talent announced for the game including Marsha Thomason, Keith Carradine, Vivica Fox and Powers Boothe.

They did the right thing, I couldn't imagine 47 without Bateson.

Coreonline: A new cloud gaming service from Square Enix [update: how to 'earn' play time]

Square Enix has announced a new cloud gaming service called Coreonline, which will bring "high definition" gaming to browsers. Specifically, the service will "allows users to easily play popular, console quality games on the web." Coreonline will be accessible via Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer thanks to "a combination of Google and Square Enix's proprietary technology."

Currently there are only two titles available, Mini Ninjas and Hitman: Blood Money. In the case of Mini Ninjas, the Coreonline site merely redirects users to the Chrome Web Store, where a streaming version of Mini Ninjas has already been available for some time. Blood Money, on the other hand, will play directly in the Coreonline store. We loaded the game, at which point we were asked to watch an ad, which "earned" us 10 minutes of play time. Ads can be skipped by purchasing individual levels or entire games, according to Square Enix.

Lara Croft: Guardian of Light will be released on the service in October. Gyromancer and Tomb Raider: Underworld are also in development. At present, Mini Ninjas, Blood Money and Lara Croft support Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 7. On Mac, Lara Croft and Mini Ninjas will only work in Chrome, while Blood Money does not currently support Mac at all.

Update: It turns out that you "earn" minutes of play based on which ads you choose to watch. At the end of our initial ten minutes, we were given a selection of ads, each worth a number of minutes. A 1:17 ad for Kohl's for example, is worth 26 minutes of play time, whereas a 7 second ad for the Samsung Series 9 is worth 5 minutes. Continue Reading

Bwahahaha I'll bet Pat's pants exploded with the Bateson announcement. Brilliant news. All is finally right in the world of Hitman.

...how bad does it suck for the guy they replaced, though? :o

LOL.

ruined 2 pairs man.

i wonder if Bateson replaced Mapother(Ethan from LOST)tho? Hes 47s mocap guy and up to this point all the mocap guys have been the voice actors as well.

It's really great news.

The more they've shown of the game, the better I've felt about it. Them getting 47 back in saddle...it's just smart and right.

Man...now this gives me hope that Ubisoft can bring back Ironside as Sam Fisher.

yea as super excited as i was about this game, the lack of Bateson was always gnawing at the back of my head. this is now perfect. we are getting a much deeper look into the character of 47 and that character is being played by the individual who made him who he is. i couldnt be any happier. this is going to be my perfect game. im certain of it.

when is this coming out again?

bateson being back almost makes me want to pre-order the game...

Anyone curious as to what the hell happened that changed the situation so that Bateson is now back as 47? Last I knew on the subject they had let Bateson go and were ignoring his calls and Bateson was publicly not happy about that. To me it feels like something significant happened behind the scenes.

I think it had to of been fan backlash. i mean the fans over at the Hitman forums were beyond pissed. Either that or once they started seeing 47 and hearing someone elses voice they just came to their senses. Either way, im happy whatever transpired, transpired. Now im ready for a trailer with Bateson voice
