Hitman: Absolution

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/11/22/hitman-franchise-to-be-developed-by-two-teams (non-mobile version for sake of convenience)

Anyone worried that this means the next game may alter Agent 47 too much though shouldn't panic just yet; the team are apparently aware that messing with certain aspects of the game could throw everything else off. As a result, IO and Square Enix Montreal are working closely together to identify what should change, and what should stay the same.

This quote is what I think is most interesting about the article. It seems by and large that they're saying the next Hitman game will be a joint venture between two studios so they can create Hitman games in a more timely fashion, though with this quote it seems to suggest they need to communicate between the studios what should and should not change.

Makes you wonder what their plans are overall for the Hitman franchise. I wouldn't so no to spin-offs (which would be nice) altering the formula somewhat, but I hope the main games should try to keep the main parts of the gameplay the same. Any changes to those should be an evolution of the gameplay and not scrapping it for something else entirely.

Well as long as they don't muck with the character of 47 and keep Bateson in the role, I'm all for it. Clearly IO and SE know what they want in a Hitman title and I trust them. I am ALL for more 47

Hahaha yeah I ended up poisoning his sushi and was done the level in, like, 2 minutes. But, part of the fun of Hitman has always been replaying levels in different ways.

I guess I just have to get used to exploring and taking my time again! I realized that it's probably been a while since I've played a game with so many ways to go about things haha. That's...kinda depressing.

where do i find the poison anyway?

Personaly Iliked blowing him up near his car the best so far.

It's in one of the sushi stands. It's some kind of poison fish.

How frequent are the games going to be?

just started playing, this game is great, its been a long time coming

Indeed it has. Iv probably put in close to 20 hours and im still 3 levels away from completion and iv yet to touch Contracts mode. I also cant wait to go through the game again on purist(something i tried and failed to do from the start). I also need to go through the levels again to try for the best score. A buddy of mine is number one in the world on one level and i can not let him stay above me.

How do you achieve a good/great score? Is it done by making things look like accidents and killing/subduing as few people as possible? For example, if I only killed the target and managed to make it look like an accident, would that be a perfect score?

It's tricky. You get way more points for making your target kills look like accidents, but you are deducted points if you also kill anyone who isn't the target.

Also, your precious challenge unlocks add to your score modifier, apparently. So, basically, if you complete all the unlockable challenges on a stage over the course of a few play throughs, your score will be significantly higher each time.

At least, that's what I read.

This game is ****ing great. Also this:

If last gen was any indication, prob about two yrs apart, give or take.
Oh 2 years would be ideal, especially with 2 studios. I was thinking they might be going for annual which would have been too much IMO.

Yea that's pretty much it. That's how my buddy got rank 1. Do all the challenges for a level, then go back and do ur perfect run.

Lol. So awesome

That's kinda why I stopped caring about getting high rank the first time through.

Same. After like the 3rd level I stopped going for score. That's what my following playthroughs(of which there will be a lot) are for.

I must ask; I'm currently on the Orphanage level. So far, with the exception of the first level (and possibly Chinatown), everything has been dark, rainy and generally taking place in dilapidated settings. Are there more sunny/bright levels coming up? I know there's the small town level, but I'm not sure how far away I am. All the doom and gloom, while certainly well done and beautiful in it's own away, is starting to get me down.

There's a few levels in SD which by the way isn't what SD is like at all, that are in the daylight .

San Diego? I've been to San Diego, it's a great city. Very much like a kind of Utopia, no graffiti, no litter. Bail bonds offices everywhere...which might be the reason for the low crime rate :D

That's because no one has ever actually been there nor would they want to go there to take reference photos. So they just do the best they can. They can't be too far off. Small towns. Country bumpkins. That's about all ya need to capture SD.

Ohh, South Dakota...I won't know any better!
