BvS Honestly did the critics effect your rating of BvS?

Honestly, did it?

  • Yes, I disliked it more after it got torn apart.

  • No, my opinion didn't change (bad or good)

I read a few of the negative reviews, and I thought that I would think the film was terrible, then I read a couple of positive ones by reviewers that I like, and I then just decided to NOT read any more reviews and stayed away from the internet a few days.

And I liked the film.

This poll is pretty funny considering that half the people tearing this movie a new one for the past few weeks regurgitate exactly what many critics wrote.

Right, because it's not possible that the people tearing the movie a new one did it by their own free will. They saw the bad reviews and just got on the bandwagon. Let it go dude, such a pathetic post.

It's almost like we're all seeing the same issues with the film. Crazy, huh?

I never let critics decide whether or not I see a film.

That's nonsense! :o There's no such thing as a coincidence, clearly the GA is just copy and pasting their criticism. There's no way they came up with things they hated about the movie ALL ON THEIR OWN without the aid of Rotten Tomato critics? :whatever:

No, reviews are more of an annoyance because a lot of people can't generate their own opinions so they just bandwagon on the thoughts of reviewers. I still think MOS was a fantastic film and i watch it all the time. BvS was not as good in my opinion because it was too cluttered, but i still enjoyed it. Looking forward to the 3hr cut to see what it couldve been. Pretty sure theyll make bank on that cut.

If anything, the reviews lowered my expectations to such a degree that I ended up coming out thinking it wasn't as bad as they were saying. But still a very problematic movie that clearly was hacked to bits in the editing room.

Didnt affect me, either. If anything, I thought the critics undersold how awful it was. I expected to at least be able to laugh at it and enjoy it as a bad movie. But it lacked that kind of value as well.

Critics help me to lower my expectation and somehow the movie still disappoints

I gladly don't belong to that half, I tear it harder. :o

Do you honestly expect anyone to admit it? I highly doubt critics had zero to little impact on people's perceptions about the movie. This is something difficult to prove on a large scale, but i certainly know quite a few people who will get strongly influenced by what they read.

Probably because critics were right.

No. Got me worried a bit, but all my friends who had seen it said it was really good, and that gave me hope. I loved it very much and got me very excited for more.

Pretty much.

On the surface, people might think the extra post time should have given them more time to figure out how to edit the film the best, but that's just not how it works. The studio had TOO MUCH time, and just continued tweaking it until it was the barebones of what the film needs.

Back when I was interning with the sound designer of the Matrix, he said the same thing -pretty much every big movie gets better and better as the edits come in, until they finally reach that perfect place.... And then they just keep trimming it more and more until it's actually a lesser film than a cut they already had. Pretty clear that happened with BvS.

Honestly, studios should stay the **** out of the editing room, haha, but you know, what're you gonna do.

This poll is too limited, and presents a false dichotomy.

The critics absolutely affected my perception of the film, but in that they lowered my expectations, and lead to me being surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

Lol, just like the other poll in one of the other threads. Do you value what RT critics say about a movie? 1) No, screw them? 2) Yes, I am their sheep and they are my shepherd!

I guess the middle ground doesn't exist amongst BvS polls. What are ya' gonna do lol? :whatever:

During the first 2/3 of the movie I didn't get what the hell the critics were talking about. The movie felt to me like one of the best of the genre, except for the pointless nightmare sequences. Then came the unbearable chaos that last third act is and I left the theater feeling like a bad review was understandable. I still want to see it again.

I could have added that option, but my main question was; did it affect your rating after you saw the movie and read the reviews?
What seems to be a consensus is that most people read reviews, lowered their expectations. How many would ultimately decide not to see it at all?

I'm sure everyone is effected in someway or another. Some don't even realise it. I figured this thread would make some of those think twice about forming an opinion.

Pretty much this. Was expecting a trainwreck, got a pretty decent film.
