does it? i might have to buy it. i think hes a really interesting character, but obviously there was no time to delve into him in the film.
yeah it does, not very long about 1-2 pages. Basically to summarize:
It talks about how he was only a boy when Chechnya broke away from Russia, but even at that age he realized amongst the chaos, he had a golden opportunity to be strong and become powerful. So he started an arms trade and was successful for a while - until Russian troops reinvaded.
He then delved into the drugs trade - and called himself the Chechen simply because he hated the name he was born with cuz it reminded him of his parents who he thought of as fools and weaklings.
So he supplied drugs to russian troops, until there was some sort of raid which forced him to flee to the Bahamas and eventually to Mexico city - from there he considered which city to move to in the US as he thought the drugs trade had plenty of potential there. Eventually he chose Gotham because he thought given the stories he'd heard about the chaos following the events at the end of BB, it would be similar to the situation in Chechnya when he first gained power.
There is some sort of comment on how he thought stories of a human bat were ridiculous, but thought there must be something because noone could profit from perpetuating lies about human bats.
So he first moved to Bludhaven (a sister city of Gotham from the comics, where Nightwing operates) and proved himself by recruiting fellow Chechnyan refugees and massacring the biggest local dealer and his gang. This was all part of his plan to get recognized by Maroni. And it worked, Maroni got in touch, deals were made, Maroni and the Chechen became co-operators and eventually the entire gotham drug trade was under their joint control.
Then it says something about how the Chechen always planned to kill Maroni eventually, and he suspected Maroni planned the same. So he made sure not to get too close.
The story then delves into the scarecrow scene we know from the movie...
