Horizon Horizon: Zero Dawn

Ghost of Tsushima already had an updated version for PS5, so don't quite see that happening TBH.

But a remake of the original God of War for the Amazon show? Definitely.

2005 GoW or 2018 GoW? The titles get confusing but I don't think they'd need to do much if you're talking the 2018 GoW.

2005 God of War
God of War 2
God of War 3

I would like a remake of those.

I meant the original game, which would make most sense since that's likely what the Amazon series would cover.

I could see them going either way for the series. They could set it in Ancient Greece as a counter to the games being focused on Norse mythology at the moment or they could adapt the Norse mythology aspect from the PS4/PS5 games to capitalize on the popularity of the new games.

I think even with the current Norse setting, Kratos' origin and relationship to the greek gods is fairly integral to his character. I think you can't get to where he is now in the games without starting there.

But that's probably for another thread lol

What’s the DLC situation on this game? Many planned?

Assuming you mean Forbidden West, probably one like the last one. Lance Reddick said he was in the studio recording for it the other week.

Oh yes, Forbidden West thanks. Shame they don’t usually do more than one. Glad it’s in progress & thanks for the info.

$10 to upgrade isn't bad but I don't know if the value is there for me, even though I love the game.

I own the game on GOG so I won't have access to the upgrade since Sony is now forcing their PSN DRM to us PC players.

Besides, I don't see much difference visually if I'm being honest.

Well that doesn't look like an improvement...

The OG screenshot looked like it has more details, while the remaster just softened the textures...
and it begs the question of why this game is even getting remastered. answer: easy cash grab.

I've lost track of the countless remasters, remakes, and rereleases of Playstation games this generation

They're doing it because it's a PS4 game and they want the collection complete on PS5. That said, 10 hours of new recorded dialogue isn't a tiny endeavor.

Both Nintendo and Sony do this. And I prefer it to games being lost on pass gen consoles. It's there for the fans and for those who missed it the first time around. If others don't want it, they don't have to get it. On the same show, they showed off a brand new first party Ghost game. They just had a critical darling come out this month. They make plenty of new games too. Including a brand new Horizon game. So I'm completely confused by what you seem to be upset about.

but the Ps4 version still looks great, and it's backwards compatible on Ps5.

yeah, I'll give them that but it's still a rerelease of an already existing software. it almost seems like there have been more of those types of releases this generation from Sony rather than new IPs or sequels.

others that don't want it won't get it sure, and yes they also announced the Ghost sequel, but these rereleases get just as much attention as new releases. the fact that this generation feels a lot like a rehash of last generation is a common sentiment.

Are you being serious? The one of the left, Aloy looks made of rubber. The one on the right is so much better.

$10 to look like Forbidden West during gameplay with redone motion capture on the often rough-looking conversation scenes sounds fine to me. That comparison photo is pretty sharp in my eyes. On the right, she looks like a person. On the left, she looks plastic. The art design makes Zero Dawn a lovely looking game, but it regularly struggled with the human face work outside of the full cutscenes. For my money, Forbidden West is one of the best looking games of the generation and I look forward to exploring those areas again with that level of fidelity and with some of the rough edges smoothed out. I'm not saying this as a "you need to buy this," I don't care if anyone buys it. Not my business. But I do think it's pretty heavily noticeable.

So?

Yeah. Because like Nintendo, they have a lot of older games and it takes a while to make a new game. They could rush them, but I prefer they take their time and produce something worthwhile.

Do you think Sony has stopped making games? Releasing exclusives? They haven't. Not close.

It's a common sentiment from trolls on the internet trying to act like Sony is failing because they don't release a brand new God of War, Last of Us, or Horizon every year.

You want to know who is failing? Microsoft. So much so, they can't even do profitable exclusives anymore.

There are people who have not played the first game. Which also helps with Forbidden West. Where people who have played it and haven't played the first can get something a bit more familiar or if they haven't and enjoy this one, move to Forbidden West.

I play PS4 games on my PS5 all the time. It is not the same experience.

what do you mean "so?" given the fact that the original game still holds up quite well, this remaster comes off as an unnecessary, superfluous cash grab.

We're halfway through the generation and when I think about high profile Ps5 releases, it's not just that rereleases are a lot of of them, it's that most of them are the ones in the conversation. Most notably the tlou rereleases, but we started the generation off with one too (Spider-Man).

What I think is that most of this generation feels like a rehash of the previous one. and the previous one, although was full of remasters, had more original releases at this point than the current one does.

nah. it's not just trolls saying it. I am a consumer who paid $500 at launch in 2020 for a Ps5. I am a lifelong gamer on Playstation, I am not even into 2 out of the 3 IPs you named, and I also am displeased with Sony's practices this generation. and I know there are genuine other fans like me who feel the same way.

maybe trolls/haters/fanboys on non-Playstation platforms are taking advantage of the disappointment the actual community is feeling, but it's definitely coming from gamers who have been genuinely waiting for their hype & patience to be satisfied.

yeah, that's another common sentiment going around in conversations too. but I am not counting them out yet. they have a chance to turn things around in my book, it all depends on if they play their cards right.
