The Dark Knight Rises How did you feel after your first viewing of TDKR?

First view, disappointed.

Second view, disappointed.

I don't think an extended cut will be released so I'm starting to give up on TDKR. :(

So many similar reactions!

My first viewing, overwhelmed and frustrated. I watched in IMAX and Zimmer's music just drowned out the dialogue. And everything just seemed to whizz by.

Second time in a movie theatre. Sound was much better balanced and the pacing didn't seem as quick. I grew to love it more on subsequent viewings.

Feel bad for Nolan that there will be many who won't give this a second chance though.

First viewing ya somewhat of a shock, especially after sitting through the whole trilogy, but after third viewing today I know pretty much how I feel.

I LOVED IT. Like I still love it now. But since then I recognize the problems, and stated that it wasn't better than TDK. And it isn't. But I was blown away, because it was a Nolan Batman movie, and the fact that is the last one gives a little touch of sadness to the reaction :csad:
Planning to see it a second time this week, probably I'm going to like it even more :hrt:

Awe. Satisfied awe.

I enjoyed it but I wasn't wholly satisfied. Everything comes at you like a freight train on your initial watch. When you see it a second time it's a lot more satisfying. You're also able to take in the emotional beats of the ending a lot better.

A bit frustrated and disappointed after my first viewing, but I've seen it three times now and I enjoy it more each time. I still have issues with the film but I guess I'm able to accept it the more I see it.

It kind of went over my head. I mean I knew what had transpired, but couldn't really make out the details. The ending montage left me pretty numb. But when I got home and thought about it, I knew I really liked it, but had to see it again to take it all in.

When I came out of the theater from my second viewing I was exhausted, lol. That's when I knew I loved it. I was able to articulate my thoughts on the film a lot better when I talked to my dad after the second viewing. Everything seemed to have made perfect sense after that.

I watched The Dark Knight Rises for the first time today. It's amazing! I left the theater feeling joyful and very satisfied! :woot:

After I saw the film the first time I liked it, but did have issues, and I was thinking about those issues. Seeing the movie a second time was really beneficial. Like Yurka, you come to accept what the movie is as you know what's coming and are now familiar with it. I'm seeing it again tomorrow, so I imagine things are only going to get better.

Whatever pacing issues I had the first time, specifically in the first act, disappeared after the second viewing. I thoroughly enjoyed it more the second time-barring Talia's death of course :woot:

I'd rate them Batman Begins = 9.5/10

The Dark Knight = 10/10

The Dark Knight Rises = 6.5/10

Satisfied. I wanted a good trilogy, and that's what I got. Unlike most other trilogies I love, I can't really pinpoint my favorite with this one. I feel each one is fairly equal in strengths and weaknesses. I would give all 3 films a 9/10.

First viewing: Happy but it flew over my head little bit. Noticed lots of problems and felt like it was missing something.

Second viewing: Enjoyed it even more, and appreciated it for what it is.

In a word; underwhelmed. I enjoy it but felt it was a big step down from Begins and especially TDK. It's got big pacing problems, rushed plot lines, and several unnecessary characters who could have been excised altogether.

I pretty much agree with these. I hadn't really followed TDKR at all and only really had an idea of who [BLACKOUT]Talia[/BLACKOUT] was but I thought the story was predictable. I really liked Anne as Catwoman and I liked the ending also. I don't think [BLACKOUT]Blake will become Batman, but I can see him becoming Robin or Nightwing[/BLACKOUT]. I still to this day think back and go man I wish I would have went and seen TDK in theaters a second time. But with TDKR I was like I kinda wish I would have waited till next week end because I went Sunday after a long and busy Saturday. So I'll give it a secong viewing when it comes out on Blu Ray but as of right now I think it's the weakest of the three movies.

I felt quite content that this was the conclusive film in a great trilogy.

A bit too much cop action and, there were huge gaps from where Bruce went from bearded invalid to Batman and then from prison inmate to Batman again.
One minute he's in pain, the next he's suited and booted.

I went out thinking about bad russian dubbing of Bane and uninspired translation, Talia's death, Selina's Clean Slate, rough cut in the second half of the movie and sadness that the movie is too short and that it's the last one.

I cried like a baby. Honestly never had cried before that hard from a film in my life. The tears were brought on by the fact that it was over. done. thats it. The several months of constantly following this film every single day leading up to the day of its release. It hit me pretty hard that myself and all of the other fans on here put so much dedication in this film. As for the film I was beyond pleased. I loved it and was so happy with how it all played out. I think when watching it for the first time I was more interested in seeing how right we all were with rumors and to see what scenes in the trailer played out or how the spy pics and vids fit in to it all. I was more worried about catching all of that stuff. I will be seeing it tomorrow in IMAX finally for the second time, so I am really looking forward to it and seeing what I missed.

Somewhat confused, and slightly, very slightly, disappointed.

Confused, not by the story, but the direction Nolan took with the tone of the movie. It just seemed wildly different from the other two in terms of the comic-y elements. It was kind of jarring seeing three people running around in costumes, when before Batman was really the only one like that in Nolan's Gotham (the Joker's "outfit", if you can call it that, was still much more subdued.) The Bat, no matter how practical it might be, and how awesome it is in action, just seemed like a big leap from the Tumbler.

Watching Batman & Catwoman interact, at least for me at first, felt a little...odd for some reason. Giving her a "ride" back to her place, it all seemed just really out of place for what Nolan established before. For someone who went to great lengths to explain everything, almost to a fault in the previous films, Nolan seemed to just let too much happen with too little explanation for my liking initially.

I was also a little disappointed that the pace still seemed too quick for a movie almost 3 hours long. I felt confident going in, that it was that long because things were fleshed out and had a tad more room to breath than things did in TDK. Unfortunately I thought it was worse.

That being said, on subsequent viewings, after going in without all these preconceived notions and thoughts, the movie got better by leaps and bounds. I comfortably place it beside BB as an equal film. Over time, it may even overtake it. The worst thing I can possibly due is criticize a director for taking too many chances and being too ambitious. Especially in this day and time.

Agreed, I thought it was going to be saved as a suprise for the final circa 30 mins, it threw me when they revealed it so early.

The Bat was a great spectacle, but kinda lazy to have Batman flying around as much as he did.

This is where people have issues with the tone, because hypothetically I can't see how The Bat would have fitted into TDK.

Would really have preferred to see the black tumbler make a re-appearence.

TDK feels like a more personal, intimate movie, whereas TDKR felt like that for the first hour then went for massive scope, but becasue of that to some degree suffered from movie cliche's.

I felt mixed emotions as well. I was really excited for the great things in it but disappointed at the number of bad ones. It was almost like the good highlighted the bad. I can't explain it satisfactorily.

I was a bit numb after first viewing, didn't dislike or love it, second viewing, I loved it.

I liked it more the first time but still like it none the less. The problem is I went in cold the first time and didn't have the crazy expectations some on here had. The second time I went in ready with flaws in mind because of this damned board. :(
