20, thats not too bad at all. Its not like He's 50 and scared he'l be alone forever. He just probably needs more time to get used to what kind of girls he likes and learn to not get too nervous, which just comes from experience. If he isn't really desperate to get laid, just give him some time, invite him out, introduce him to people, just don't put any pressure on or he'l get even more scared and nervous talking to people than he is.

Well, if it's not a sexuality problem, and the guy really wants to 'hook up'. Then it sounds like he needs major ATTITUDE adjustment. I know, corny but true. You've got to get him to open up about his fears and insecurities about women. This is the only other thing I can think of that is holding him back.

Not really, I mean he seems to like Japanese girls after spending a year in Japan. He also doesn't seem to have a particular interest for the party girls as I do. He definitely, I would say, wants a "nice girl"....however broadly you wish to define that.

Trying, not really....I mean I guess he is getting shot down, but at the same time he is letting himself get shot down (so I would not say he is trying to succeed, or if he is he is sabotaging his own efforts).

Unattractive, no I wouldn't say so. He is a workout partner of mine, so he is not out of shape either.
