How I Met Your Father - CBS Eyeing HIMYM Spinoff

A big reason why HIMYM was so successful was due to the cast. I have a hard time imagining the cast for this one being as good, but I do like Hilary Duff.

They better not film the final scene during the first season and then stick to that adamantly even when it undoes all the other character development during the series. Why are they reviving this anyway since it has been years since the original finished and there didn't seem to be any demand for more like it again?

So what 2000's teen icons should be on this show then? We had Willow and Doogie for the original. Now we have Lizzie and who else?

What's next Josh Peck gets cast and tries another sitcom after that John Stamos one? :o

Wait and see on the Duff version. though I I was more interested in the version that was going to have Eliza Dushku.

When was there ever going to be a version with Eliza Dushku?

So would Eliza. She dodged a bullet there. Maybe they don't completely fumble the series finale this time. Or drag it on for several seasons too long.

There was only a version with Greta Gerwig as female Ted in development

That's all I know of, not any Eliza Dushku version. I haven't heard anything since the Greta Gerwig version was cancelled.

Regardless, I imagine Eliza would have jumped at the chance to headline this show if it came. She's not exactly a megastar. Basically, I don't know why you're talking about the show like it's bad or a failure before it even exists.

Not saying it will be a failure but the bitter taste the final season and finale left are still there after all these years. Like Dexter which is coming back. They ruined the series with awful finales.

Revivals like this are very hit and miss, mostly missing. For every series that "revives" and comes back for more, you have like six or seven that fail to make it through their first season let alone a second.

I won't write it off immediately but the odds are not high this is going to be a success. Outside of Doctor Who, I can't think of many shows that were cancelled and either came back or got a sequel series like this and are still going. Even the X-Files, with the best odds didn't make it past two seasons. There is "The Connors" but that is pretty much it right now coming to the end of it's third season with no guarantee of a fourth.

I stillenjoy the first 4 seasons and do a rewatch every year. If it’s good as those, regarding to the humour and creative concepts (flashbacks, non linear storytelling, substitutions like „sandwiches“ or „bagpipes, blabla and the ninja report), I‘ll be happy.

Agreed that finale for HIMYM really killed the entire series for the most part and for me made the whole series unwatchable. If not for them releasing the alternate ending (where the mom doesn't die and Barney & Robin don't break up) I would've never watched the show again.
