I stopped watching after a few minutes. Didn't seem like an episode that was going to be important.
I saw Miloti's name in the credits and got excited because I figured it meant that she would make an appearance, but she didn't.![]()

It's not like I watch only for the plot, but I can't help but feel that since the episode when Ted admitted he still has feelings for Robin that this season has been on autopilot/holding back for later episodes. The characters are still great, but the stories are underwhelming and the situations they've been put in haven't been that funny. I can't help but feel that the writers are holding back all the good plotlines and stories for after the New Year.
t: I've been spoiled by Netflix haha. I don't know how much more I would enjoy it, but I know would like it more. I think I just miss the city environment and the cast all being together instead of apart. I think the jokes aren't bad, but I'm not liking plots because I think they've come across as more lame than funny or interesting.Yeah, I was thinking that I would probably enjoy this season more if I binge watched it.t: I've been spoiled by Netflix haha. I just want more Miloti dammit!
I would agree with that. While this show definitely hasn't reached the huge dip in quality that some sitcoms do at the end of their life (I'm look at you That 70's Show), it's not quite at the same level it used to be. It's still solid in my opinion, but some of the jokes definitely seem forced now, and the charm is starting to fade. Which is why I'm glad they're ending it.
And also, binge watching definitely spoils you. I just did that with Arrow (in about three days I caught up with everything...I was slightly ashamed at myself for how much TV I watched) and then when I got to the point where I had to wait a week for each episode it was a giant change of pace.
And with shows like HIMYM that effect is amplified, because they tend to have a lot more "bottle episodes" that don't really have anything to do with the main plot, but when you're binge watching you don't really notice it.
We don't talk about that.
With HIMYM, even if the jokes don't always land, the concepts or the structures, whether it's one of Barney's crazy ideas or a crazy flashback (or sometimes flash forward), were interesting or funny. I just haven't found myself as engaged in these concepts or the structure of the episodes so far.
It was bad. They jumped the shark, then shot the waterskier in the leg, killed the driver of the boat, but told the waterskier that he had to keep going.
But while some of the jokes haven't landed quite as well this season, I've still enjoyed it quite a bit. And I agree with Sawyer, I'm betting that Miloti is going to start playing more and more of a role around the mid-season mark. I'd be stunned if she wasn't all over the 2nd half of the season.
F**k Randy!I understand why to hold her back. You don't want the audience to get tired of her early or risk making her unlikable or a mary sue (and to be honest, the scene with Barney came off a little Mary Sue-ish). Still doesn't make me miss when she's not in episodes.
