How I Met Your Mother - Part 3

CBS pulls that **** all the time and it honestly shocks me that they're the number 1 network when they do crap like that.

Yeah, it was a really weird and frustrating schedule. If you want all your finales to end at the same time, you're better off pushing off the premiere of your shows.

I honestly did not know that there was a new episode this week until I saw a preview posted on Facebook.

Yep. I believe it's the last episode before Holiday break.

I had this weird dream about HIMYM last night. Cristin Milioti was the main focus of the dream. At various times, I seemed to be either Barney or Marshall, and both of them separately seemed to be having a bit of a flirtation with the mother. Ted still hadn't met her yet, although he seemed to be aware of her existence, but simply that they hadn't formally met. The mother also knew who he was, and Barney even told her Ted's name at one point.

At one point, Barney was walking with the mother, but the other cast members were walking ahead in the street and then they went into a brownstone house where there was a party. However, Barney and the mother weren't invited, so they went on a date instead (don't know why he abandoned Robin). It was as if this was one last fling before Barney's wedding, even though in the actual show they were already at Farhampton (most of this dream seemed to take place back in Manhattan somewhere).

Then, as the evening progressed, both of them got into trouble in a bar fight and ended up being arrested, with the others needing to come and bail them out.

At one point, Ted even seemed to be sitting next to the mother at a bar, but they still hadn't spoken. Even in my dream, their actual meeting still seemed to be very strung out and delayed for some reason.

Boyz II Men bit was fun, but obvious filler episode was obvious.

Yeah, I couldn't help but feel like the writer were desperately looking for some way to kill 22 minutes.

It also really bothers me how Marshall and Lily finally have this major story arc and they somehow postponed it for half the season by keeping Marshall away from everyone, and when he finally comes back and faces Lily, they throw in the pause. I'm beginning to think that this "Season in a Weekend" thing is hurting the show more than helping.

I love the show but thank god this is the last season

Slapsgiving 3 should have been epic but instead it sucked, oh well

It would've been, if they didn't choose to have the episode be 90% set around a bull**** story Marshall was making up.

This season has given us some good stuff (not as much as I'd like, but not as little as some would like to think), but this episode was just a waste of time. Filler at it's worst.

It did seem to be trying to be a weird episode I mean Kung Fu and Boyz 2 Men? did like seeing Stacy Kiebler thogh

Yeah, Boyz II Men and the revolving door of Barney's conquests were the only good thing to offer here.

Sawyer, you may be the only one to get this, but I think it would be hilarious if Claire Holt would guest star on this and call Barney a bloody something or other.

Wouldn't be believable. If he had her, he'd never be settling for Robin. I mean...

Yeah, you could be right. Hey, what can I say? with all the Whedonverse people around, I always wanted Eliza Dushku to be the mother. Nice Gif of Claire.:cwink:

Personally, I was very fond on seeing Nora again. I used to like Robin, but I still can't believe he left Nora for her.

I don't hate this season, despite my complaints, but the problem is we're getting obvious filler episodes that feel lazy. Like I said before, it's like they're putting all their worst material for the filler episodes while saving their best stuff for more important episodes.

I haven't seen the episode yet but it's disappointing to hear that the episode was a filler, especially after the last episode which progressed the story. This season should have been 13 episodes at most so we could avoid fillers and make the story tighter.

Why not just do a 2 hour movie instead that tied up all the major loose ends?

I just don't know why we keep going into this, every episode should progress the story campaign. There have been filler episodes in every season.

For every Slapsgiving episode, it involved usually the whole episode.

My problem isn't that we have filler. My problem is that it's been bad filler. I don't think as much effort or good material has gone into the more filler centric episodes, especially as much as it was in the past.

Bad filler for any type with a continuing narrative in general makes any story feel longer, and the obvious lack of story progress even more apparent.

Also, the difference now is that its the final season and the episodes are pretty much numbered now as far as the end is concerned, and its been more than obvious for a while now that they're holding their best cards, which also seem to be their only cards, for the end.

Also, the structure of this season isn't doing them any favors in the filler department.

Yeah, filler isn't inherently bad.

This episode, however, was. It was just needless. It was 22 minutes of story that could've been covered in, like, 30 seconds.

I like the season-in-a-weekend format. But people are right about this episode.

I was so excited to get back from the break because the last episode was great. But we came back to this.
