How I Met Your Mother - Part 3

I finally saw the episode and I'll admit I laughed. Sure it served no purpose whatsoever and it was silly but it had its moments.

I hope the last scene plays out, with everyone in the background:

Ted: "I'm Ted."
Mother: "I'm _____"
Saget: "And that, kids, is how I met your Mother."
Then in the background, final slap.

Maybe a montage of their life after.

They need to apologize for making a Dexter version of a comedy series finale season.

A once good series that completely ruined itself in the final season. Completely. I think only Roseanne did a worse final season.

How I Met Your Mother Scoop: Finale Title Revealed! Plus – Scoop on the Kids' Names

How I Met Your Mother is about to solve a longstanding mystery.

In next Monday’s episode of the departing CBS comedy, viewers will finally learn the names of Ted and The Mother’s son and daughter (played by David Henrie and Lyndsy Fonseca, respectively.

HIMYM co-creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays confirmed the forthcoming reveal late Wednesday at a farewell Q&A/reception on the show’s set for members of the Television Critics Association.

The pair also shared that the title of March 31 series finale is “Last Forever,” and added three more names to the swan song season’s alumni parade: Rachel Bilson, Sarah Chalke and Lucy Hale (all of whom will appear in upcoming episodes).
:awesome:

The filler episodes this season aren't any worse than the ones from last season. Honestly, up until the proposal episode I thought last season was significantly worse on average. There weren't really any episodes from the first half of last season that were as good as the better episodes this season. It just so happens that every good episode so far has featured the mother so my hope is the more she starts to appear (which is kind of inevitable) the more consistent the show will be.

Edit: I guess you were referring to Dexter. My bad.

I edited my post. I guess my argument would apply to the person comparing this to the last season of Dexter then.

Not. Even. Close.

Don't try to compare this last season to the utter and complete travesty that was the finale season of Dexter. That's wildly out of range.

This has actually had a few good episodes. Heck, the fact that it's had ONE good episode puts this season leaps and bounds above the last season of Dexter.

Wow, so this show ends on March 31st? That seems a little early.

Better. No breaks.

Never watched Dexter, but i agree this season, what i watched of it before i quit watching, was the worst of the show imo. Sadly this show is another Fringe situation for me. Great show that took a nose dive in its final season. I know plenty of people liked Fringe's final season so no need to rush to its defense. It just didnt work for me thats all. Same with this season of HIMYM.

I still haven't seen the final season of Fringe. It's in my Netflix que

It still has good episodes, but the problem with this season is that it would have benefitted with less episodes, because clearly some episodes are a waste of time. I don't think some of the show is the worst (I think the Barney-focused filler episodes before Barney proposed to Robin last season were worse), but I really don't think the weekend-in-a-season format has benefitted them at all. If anything, it made the filler episodes more apparent. The filler episodes feel more like stalling than entertaining.

My biggest gripe so far with the format this season has been that the first 5-6 episodes felt like they had the same arc that involved Barney doing something, Robin getting super pissed, then him doing something or her realizing something that makes her forgive him and remember why she's marrying him in the first place. I don't know if that's intentional to set something else up down the road, but it gets annoying watching these two people rediscover why they're getting married every other hour if you're to believe that the first few episodes all took place on the same day.

Earlier seasons had different story arcs, different girls for Ted, and then sometimes a larger theme that hit on in every episode.

The issue is that the show has to do so many episodes, yeah there's going to be some filler. They could probably of easily cut out a bunch of episodes. But I'm enjoying the cameos and since is essentially the only comedy I watch now, I'm not overly anxious for it to get right down to it.

The only thing I'm nit picky about is I want more, future stuff with the mother. I think we've only gotten like 2? When they are sitting in the bar/lounge and on top of the water tower.

I was indeed referring to Dexter in my previous post, not HIMYM which aside from some disappointing filler episodes has so far had a decent last season run.

Last night was an alright episode but it would've been better suited to a previous season instead of the last season where they should be focusing more heavily on the wedding.

Please share any spoilers you gathered from How I Met Your Mother‘s 200th episode celebrations. – Babar
Episode 200 aka “How Your Mother Met Me” will show what Cristin Milioti’s character has been up to all these years, “intersecting” her path at times with familiar past storylines. “It’s a fun little ‘Disneyland tour’ through the series, from the perspective of someone outside the group,” EP Carter Bays shared at the CBS sitcom’s final TCA panel. “It’s very emotional, and we could not have done this with any other actress.” (Carter also said that “some fun trickery” was used to drop The Mother into past episodes.)

Do you have any spoilers for How I Met Your Mother? –Shari
“There’s an episode coming up about the fact that Robin’s mom hasn’t come to the wedding — and Lily really, really wants Robin to be upset about it,” EP Craig Thomas shares. “Lily thinks Robin needs this emotional catharsis about this fact.” And speaking of mothers: By the series’ end, we will learn that there is a specific reason why Adult Ted chose the time he did to tell the kids about how he met you-know-who.

Since The Mother is played by Tony nominee Cristin Milioti, any chance we’ll hear her sing on HIMYM? Especially given that she is the lead singer of the wedding band. –Vanessa
“There’s a lot of live music coming up,” is all EP Bays would say on that topic. Added Thomas: “Stay tuned!”
God ****ing Dammit, they better not be going where I think they're going. No! No no no no NO. Let it be their anniversary or some ****.
