How much do you really care about X3 being only 103 minutes?

How much do you care about the running time

  • I don't care at all, I know this movie will rock regardless how short.

  • I do perfer a longer running time and i'm a bit dissapointed but its not that big of a deal

  • This sucks, I want this to be the best and last as long as possible, but we will see.

  • This is horrible, its going to totally ruin it for me!

Looks like it's possible Marvel fans could have yet another disappointment on their hands - add it to the heap with Daredevil, Elektra, Punisher, Blade III, and FF..........
Yup ,we'll see (if it is at least a good movie) but with already , that point ,one can have concerns ,indeed.

yeah but kinberg wasn't sure about if it wa with credits,so it could be 103 mins in total.

Well

Pheonix, Cyclops, Juggernaut, Pyro, The President,
Xavier Beast Callisto, Rogue, Worthington Snr,
Magneto, Angel, Kitty, Collosus, Mystique,
Wolverine, Storm, Iceman, Trask,

Thats 19 main characters, not to mention Quills, Arclight, Psylocke, Kavita Rao, Multiple Man and Moira McTaggart all having more than a cameo according to Kinberg and that is a lot more characters than Serenity buddy, with a film 11mins shorter.

The president, Trask, and Worthington Senior are not main characters and callisto, angel, kitty, mystique, collosus are supporting roles
but i understand what you're trying to say
I just think it's premature to be so pesstimistic when you havent seen the film and you dont know if the running will have an effect at all.

Sure FOX made Electra and Daredevil but it wasn't the runtime that made those films bad, as long as whats contained in that hour and a half is quality stuff ( and i have faith in Kinberg and Penn that it will be) than the movie will be great

I've sinced abandoned hope that this film will be everything I always wanted it to be, but I believe 100% that it will be a damn good film that I enjoy immensely, and the running time does not bother me so much anymore.

This statement pretty much sums up my feelings about the X-Men film franchise in general, in its current incarnation anyway. I was totally stoked during the production of X1, no doubt, and rabidly followed its journey to the big screen. BUT, it certainly was not the way I had envisioned the mutants' movie debut in my head. I had, and still have, reservations about the casting, character development, and overall direction of this celluloid version. Don't get me wrong, I was happy with the final product of X1 and loved X2, which was bigger/better in every way IMO. I also feel that X3, going just by the pre-release info we've received a la X1/X2, will continue the trend of improving upon it's predecessors. Still, I'm fairly sure I won't be 100% satisfied and most likely... never will be. ;) That's because I have this conceptual ideal of what an X-Men movie should be, as all of us do I'm sure. I will add that those involved seem to be making progress however, as XTLS appears to be the closest to my "ideal" so far. Here's hoping that's true! :D

As for the topic of this thread, can we call it a day already?! I mean seriously, before discussing X3's quality or lack thereof, let's wait and actually SEE it first!!!

Kitty is not a supporting role, mystigue possibly could be described as that,so there is actually about 13 main charcacters(if you consider-mystigue,callisto,colossus supporting).

you have faith on Kinberg and Penn based on what?

their resumee? Penn has done one script that was good ( not great)

and Penn apart from Last action hero ( and i dunno what was written by him) and the skelleton of X2 how can one trust him?

because he says it?

awesome, so about 5 years of comics (Legacy Virus) and 20 issues (Dark Phoenix) of X-men history sandwiched not only together, but in a film that's barely over 100 minutes... that's friggin brilliant.

I have hopes it will be good, but hey look on the bright side, when singer baled we may not ahve had an x3.

Well fox do suck, but hey maybe it will be the best 103 minutes of cinema ever.We can hope.

Well some of those characters that you dont will be main character will probably have just as much screen time as some 'main' characters had in Serenity. I cant se any those characters having a shorter role than say Sheppard Book.

I'm not trying to dampen your optimism buddy, and i appreciate what you are trying to say, but i think its people like you who deserve more that what we are going to get. I really dont think this movie deserves fans like us, and i definately dont think Fox does as they dont seem to appreciate it in the slightest IMO.

If fox were thinking in term of quality first , they would have found ways to keep Singer aboard, in one way or another, and prevented X3 to be ,in a mess, as a production..

but i fear that we are going into off topic territory there.

all judgements on a film's merits are based on personal taste.

That's not true.

If that's so, how could we know Stanley Kubrick, Federico Fellini, Orson Welles, Ingmar Bergman, François Truffaut are some of the best directors ever? Is that any doubt about it?

Cinema is an art, and an art (any art) relies on technique. Some directors and writers are masters in it, others invented new ways to tell a story with a camera, and those are the great ones.

In every art, if one learns enough, one can say who's the best.

Singers X3 would have been 30 mins longer than this at least, guaranteed.

Exactly, isnt it absolutely ridiculous?

no, it would just be moving along at a faster pace instead of dragging.

to be fair there were plenty of dragging moments in x-2, i could have skimmed about 25 minutes off that film and it woudl have still shown the same thing.

"Faster pace" is, nowadays, just an excuse to senseless editing, that can't state the value of each scene properly in the development of the story. It produces void movies, like FF and the last Harry Potter. Everything runs to the end, because no one cares about what's going on.

And there is something really funny happening here these days. X2, which everyone agreed it was one of the best comicbook movies, has started receiving some complaints like that, people saying: "Huh, you know, it was a bit too long".

It is amazing how far people can go not to see that the running time of 103 min. for X3 is just a shame.

yup.

i would "kill" to see his version of X3..

in an ideal world Fox would give him the means to do it, if X3 is a failure..

but lol ;)..Maybe one day , he will revisit the franchise , and will have the means to make even better movies that he did..

end of off topic ...for me.:D

I've hardly seen s truer post than this, i totally agree Mr. Sensitive, X2 was like a golden chalice on this board not too long ago, but i still think it is a great film.

I cant see Singer working for Fox again, or Fox hiring him after his 'betrayel', i reallt hope Marvel get the rights back for this in the very near future but it wont happen.

Well ,not saying that he can be better(i have serious doubts he can , even more now that we have this running time) ,but he as been noted as being often arogant...

So, that he means or not what he said, a little humility is welcome from him imo..

I don't care at all. :O

I have only 28 soulmates. Sigh.

Poeple aroudn here just don't relize why people don't like ratner, and it's kinda sad........ what movies has this guy done that are great??? none, red Dragon was good, but it's a remake of a GREAT film, Manhunter, which was done by Mann (Heat, Collateral, and the upcoming Maimi Vice)..... Rush Hours were fun, but they aren't memroble, I will never own them on DVD, and will only tune in when they are on TV if nothing else is on....... what else did he do?? Family Man (chick flick if you ask me)........... i also love that everyone says we are being pesimistic for no reason because we haven't seen the film yet, last time I checked, they haven't seen it yet either, so why are they being so optomistic....... I'm a realist.

Ratner has his good moments. One of the best is Red Dragon, in which he put the franchise back in the right path.

But he got it (X-Men) in the middle of a nasty confusion, and has Fox over him, and can be in his bad days.

I hope the movie is decent. I doubt very much it will be the great movie I was expecting, but I still hope Ratner is in his good days and deliver a decent small X-Men.
