How is that aping what was said in Spider-man?"It is not who I am underneath" seem to me to be an attempt by Goyer to create a new "with great power comes great responsibility".
That scene is one of the best scenes in BEGINS. The line itself was great, as was the delivery from Bale. It got me pumped, and then he nose dives selflessly into the thick fog, and darkness to go face the forces threatning the city. THAT WAS BATMAN. If you didn't like that scene, or that line and delivery, you don't like Batman. That scene was money. Character turning point. It ceases to be finite mission, and becomes his life. That's where Batman Begins, in the last act of the movie.
