Now, the smartass answer would be to say "I wouldn't," but the ending is so vague enough that it's certainly possible with the right creative approach.

The comicbook fan in me wants to see John Blake in the Jason Todd storyline where he becomes Red Hood, and obviously Dick Grayson as one of the orphans Wayne Manor has taken in.

The tricky part, of course, is bringing Bruce Wayne back from the "dead," but it's been done before (Batman Begins).

The even more difficult part is justifying him becoming Batman again after all the character development he went through in TDKR, especially with Alfred.

    It's tough, but not impossible.

    No.

A new universe where Batman is already in operation and tell new stories, and no new origin is necessary.

The only way I would even consider it would be if Heath Ledger were still alive...then, I think, in about 10 actual years from now, you could have had a film with Joker returning and bringing Wayne out of retirement.

Of course, if Ledger were still alive, that probably would have been taken care of in this movie...

Nolan needs & desperately wants to move on.

A small scale original film or Bond 24, the man needs to let go of Batman. IF they decide to make a sequel, it'll be strange, because no Nolan no Bale etc.

Prepare for this: a reboot is coming, I predict around 2015-2016.

Heath Ledger isn't dead. It's part of an elaborate scheme of Nolan & company to make The Dark Knight Returns.

I really wouldn't continue it for 2 reasons, #1, Bruce accomplished his goal thus bringing the series to a close and #2, I don't really care to see anymore Blake/Robin/Batman. Bruce Wayne or bust for me.

Don't you think that he'll now have some more time, less pressure etc to work his next projects out?

I can't believe how cool the man stayed under all that hard work.

The 'Robin' part, and Blake finding the batcave, insinuating he might try to be bats... were big

    moments for me.

That being said, IF they continue, with Nolan, which I doubt... Blake tries to be Batman, fails...and the situation he creates causes Bruce to return...

    however.... PLEASE DON'T CONTINUE.

I would continue it with Bruce Wayne not a part of the Story anymore, and Robin Blake becoming the new Batman. Joseph Gordon Levitt is a great actor and a total badass, and he can definitely pull off Batman. New villains from Batman's Rogues Gallery, and a new Batman. Could be great.

Yeah, honestly I wouldn't continue it. This left such a bad taste in my mouth. I actually support a reboot at this point in five or so years. Just start with an active Batman, Incredible Hulk style flashback background, and just move on. Get someone in that really wants to be Batman, like Bale did with Begins. Get some hungry actors (like Ledger and Hardy) that want to make a name and tear stuff up. This series just seems like it's done. Hey maybe I am wrong and a JGL led film would rock, but at this point I doubt it.

I seriously think they need to fix the Blake becoming Batman 2.0 part in a sequel.

It's a really tough spot to end the films off on.

Batman needs to go back to Bruce Wayne, hence why I want JGL has Red Hood.

The seeds are planted for Dick Grayson, with the orphanage thing too.

Have Bruce married to Selina too, when he returns (maybe with Helena as their child). At least that way Alfred can be partially happy.

Okay...so I see that everyone here is assuming that John "Robin" Blake is taking over the Mantle of the Bat...but I didn't take it that way. I took the reunion of Bruce with Alfred, and the "Robin" name revelation as simply meaning that Bruce & Alfred will return to Gotham City, if needed, with JGL as Robin at his side.

Unless..if I missed it...was Bruce Wayne outed as Batman by the end of the film? I suppose if he, like Selina, had a "fresh start", off the radar, people knew he was Batman. I'm still so overwhelmed by the ending that I can't remember the exact details.

    He wasn't outed.

    Only to Gordon.

The public assumed Wayne was killed during the 4-5 months of "no mans land" in Gotham.

Okay, so Bruce gets to go away with Selina....but if Gotham ever needed him again, the signal is restored, Bruce can return as Batman, and "Robin" keeps an eye on things but when Bruce returns, he has Robin, Alfred, and Selina at his side. That's my take on it, anyway.

I think a talented director could easily continue where Nolan left off. TDKR wasn't perfect.

    There's room for improvement.
