How would YOU reboot the Fantastic 4?

I'm a bit late to the party here but I've actually been giving this quite a bit of thought lately.

The best place to introduce the Fantastic Four would be in Iron Man 4 (assuming Tony survives Infinity War.) Set in Singapore with The real Mandarin and Fin Fang Foom as antagonists. It would be really neat to have a kaiju-like villain in the MCU and Iron Man/Fantastic Four would be the perfect teamup to challenge one.

Not bad. But I wouldn't wanna see Doom in the first film

Yea not only has he been the main villain on both versions of the FF movies, I also think they should pick a lesser known villain like Mole man. Origin movie like this should spend more time establishing the core cast. Give them priority screen time. Much like Batman begins had a throwaway villain like scarecrow and then teed us up for the joker in the sequel

6'5" Armie Hammer as Johnny Storm? And a much shorter Oscar Isaac?

Do we really need a Human Torch who is taller than Thor, and everyone else in the MCU?

And Benicio Del Toro is already the Collector in GOTG.

I LOVE the idea of Hammer or Isaac as Reed. Give Isaac the role as an apology for Apocalypse.

The Future Foundation route as in terms of a bigger roster and more "modern" aesthetic.

I've advocated for using the Skrulls. That way they can set things up for a Secret Invasion storyline.

I feel like Justin Timberlake is someone they could cast to make people forget Chris Evans as Johnny Storm. I think he has just enough fans for it to be worth casting someone not know as primarily an actor.

JT is a great musician, bad actor imo. Plenty of other people out there more suitable. And people probably arent missing evans as Jonny storm too much. Hes been captain America in now 5 movie and has done a damn fine job of it. He didnt do anything ground breaking as the human torch.

Timberlake I feel is too old. For Johnny Storm, I would want someone closer to early 20s at least.

If I got to decide, I would make things pretty complicated. My Fantastic Four movie would have this normal family living in suburbs. But someday they would get flashes of memories. Memories about them being superheroes. The movie would reveal that the MCU that we know and love is not the original. Instead, in the original world, Doctor Doom somehow managed to erase the birth of Fantastic Four from the timeline. Of course Richards would figure out how to replicate the cosmic rays and reborn Fantastic Four would confront Doom.

You can propably notice the influence of a certain classic Byrne story. :D

I'd want early 20's too, someone close to Holland's age. I like the Spider-Man and Human Torch dynamic

Yep, in the comics Spidey and Human Torch are BFFs.

I'd be OK with someone who is supposed to be college age (maybe Holland's actual age, but without casting someone deliberately young). Sure, they have a similar dynamic, but they were never classmates or anything like that. Plus, it's easier to justify him being taken to space if he were an adult.

I've never thought he was a good choice for this Peter Parker, but I wonder if Dylan O'Brien would make for a good Human Torch.

Whoever can pass as Alice Eve's brother works for me :cwink:

I really like the lost in space before the events of Iron man idea someone brought up a while ago.

Also, do we want someone younger than 35 for Johnny Storm?

I'm a big fan of Johnny starting off as a teenager. I could deal with adult. I just wish they'd stop trying to make him a full fledged adult turning the family into teammates.

They weren't classmates in the comic books, but would there be anything that precluded them being classmates in the MCU?

What if a pre-accident Johnny Storm showed up in Spider-man while pre-accident Reed, Ben and Doom showed up in Infinity Wars (with Sue in one or both)?

I guess the biggest problem with that would be that, while The Human Torch and Spider-man got along, high school Johnny Storm would probably be giving Peter Parker swirlies.

But that might actually be kind of interesting. Make Johnny a bit of an immature jerk at first so he can grow into the character.

I've been picturing Taron Egerton as Johnny lately.

Peter and Johnny were classmates for an issue in ultimate spider-man

Ya know, I may be crazy, but I think this could work as an ABC show lol the tone is perfect for the network and, other than the budget, I think it could be worked into a show nicely.

I say this mainly bc I don't think the general audience is remotely interest in a F4 movie anymore. Not for a while at least.

I think that an ABC or premium cable series could be pretty damn awesome if pulled off correctly.

Eh, I'd still prefer a movie and honestly at this point, anything with "Marvel Studios" attached sells. It'll be 2020 at the earliest when we'd get a Fantastic 4 movie and I could see Marvel introducing them in other characters movies beforehand.

Only way F4 works is if it integrated into the mcu imo. On the big screen with the rest of the shining mcu cast.

I would love a movie done right, but honestly folks this is Hollywood, money talks, BS walks. Right now there isn't a producer in Hollywood, including at Disney that would greenlight another big budget FF movie.

Option 1) A computer animated FF ala Big Hero 6. (probably won't fly with Incredibles 2 coming out)

Option 2) A new Netflix series. They'd have a bigger budget than an ABC show, because of the fewer episodes required.

Option 3) A fill in replacement series on ABC to Agent Carter. Again they'd have a better budget per episode due to the limited run, and would have another good prime time tie in to advertise other Marvel projects.

Option 4) Full blown ABC TV series. This is the most risky and the least likely to succeed. Network TV is dying other than reality series or spinoffs of known entities, ala Law and Order, NCIS, etc. The budget would be stretched thin (no pun intended) and the FF needs to have a good budget to do the kind of imaginative series they need to have.
