Deadpool & Wolverine Hugh Jackman is back as Wolverine!!!!

Doesn't he have the record now for appearing in the most cbms in the same role?

10 films, and this doesn’t include archive footage in other movies.

So glad he finally got to don the suit and mask before anyone else, the moment he put he put it on the crowd went nuts in my viewing. It didnt look perfect in some shots but it worked well enough overall. Was an iconic CBM moment anyway after all this time.

I think some shots looked a little awkward with the mask, it looks like it needs some tweaking, but some shots look so good too, so idk. I'm glad he was the first to wear it as well! I may have never got Tom Welling in the Superman suit, but at least I got to see Jackman wear the cowl!

When the cowl came on my theater exploded with thunderous applause and cheers. It was prefect.

The cowl also felt a little off to me at moments but I wonder if that has more to do with the fact that we have gotten a cowl-less Wolverine for 20 years and I was just used to seeing Jackman's face. Still absolutely loved it.

Yeah on second viewing it certainly works in some angles better than others, the eyes might need a little tweaking, not huge changes needed just some minor adjustments to get it perfect.

There were some shots where the eyes on the mask looked a little awkward but I noticed it more when they went into the tunnel to shut down the machine so maybe it was a lighting thing because I thought it looked great when he was taking on the Deadpool army above ground.

But to the surprise of no one, Hugh was great in this between the banter with Reynolds and the more dramatic scenes he had.

I believe he's currently tied with RDJ who also has 10 appearances as Tony Stark under his belt.

Jackman: X-Men, X2, The Last Stand, X-MO: Wolverine, First Class, The Wolverine, DOFP, Apocalypse, Logan, Deadpool & Wolverine

Downey: Iron Man 1-3, The Incredible Hulk, Avengers, Age of Ultron, Civil War, Homecoming, Infinity War, Endgame

I think it's a safe bet that they'll both be appearing in Secret Wars so they'll probably be tied for a little while longer at least.

I was thinking of
Jon Favreau, but from his Wikipedia page, it showed 9 films.

By the way, ironically, the montage scene in the credits made me remember he was also on Fox's Daredevil. I don't know if getting him to appear in this film - out of all the MCU people (along with Chris Evans) was purely intentional but a lot of the things in this movie really full came circle.

The mask looked ridiculous. Hopefully this can help people understand why comic book costumes don't always work in live action.

The mask looked off in some angles but side view, it looks good.

Anyway, its part of the character's look, so I'm glad they embraced.

It certainly had its moments. I think the mask can work fine, just not as a full on "pull it over my face real quick" type scenario. It needs the side panel things

I think the mask and white eyes works perfectly for Deadpool because he’s basically a cartoon character. It worked okay for Wolverine in the context of this film, but it also proved to me that I never ever want to see white eyes on Batman.
And thinking back to Hughs other performances as Wolverine, I think those white eyes would have really taken away from the emotional performances he has given.
I do think the mask could maybe work without the eyes, though.
Overall, I’m glad that we didn’t get a mask in the other films, but it was still very cool to see it in this. And I’m glad we finally got to see it on Hugh. At first, I thought maybe it would have been better to keep the yellow/blue costume and mask for the reboot, but I am actually really happy it was Hugh that finally donned the comic costume.

Hugh was amazing, as usual.

The white eyes were a huge mistake in live action. Thats just a shortcut that artists use in comics and cartoons. He looked completely lifeless. I'm sure it would have looked better without them.

I loved the mask, some shots did look a little off, but some looked fantastic too. It just needs a few tweaks and it will be great. I'm glad they went for it and I'm glad Jackman was the first to put on the cowl!

Also glad he got to do multiple various versions of Logan as well, the classic yellow and tan, AoA, Patch, height appropriate etc :funny: , it was like after all this time he was given free reign to just run with it and have fun after all these years.

I think the white eyes could have looked a little smaller. Wasn't expecting them to look as big as they did. Reducing the size might have helped a little bit. I've watched the movie a second time. Still curious as to whether the mask was all CGI. Granted the eye squinting and subtle movements were CGI surely. I look forward to seeing an official photo later. After spoil embark is lifted, I want to see a promotional poster of Hugh and Ryan in their masks. Not talking about the promotional art.

The mask was phenomenal--I'm so glad they went with the white eyes... it completely takes away his humanity and makes him scarier. Would I want it on for a dramatic scene? I guess not, but they always unmask for such moments anyway. Hugh really has done it all as Wolvie, short of fighting Omega Red. If this truly is his final bow (and if it ain't, it better be second-to-last), then I'm completely satisfied.

Disneyland has a walk-around Wolverine now and they're masked-up and it looks as good as it did in the movie, suggesting that it may not have been entirely CG.

I loved the cameos of the different “variants" of Logan, Hugh got to showcase in the film.
1. comic book-accurate height of 5 feet 3 inches (160 cm);
2. Wolverine's gambling alter-ego Patch, who wears an eyepatch and a white tuxedo;
3. Old Man Logan
4. a variant being crucified on a giant X, reminiscent of the cover of Uncanny X-Men (1981) #251;
5. a variant wearing the classic brown and tan costume from comic book artist John Byrne who fights the Hulk
6. Age of Apocalypse variant with "glam rock-like" hair, one hand, and a black and red costume.

The brown and tan suit also looked really good in live action, wouldnt mind seeing that again with the full cowl as well

Jackman was the only reason I went to see D&W and he didn’t disappoint. He clearly had fun doing it (I would say even more than when he was doing the Fox films) but he was also able to mine new territory for Logan.

And yes, the guy is a BEAST. Holy hell how does he look younger in 2024 than when he first started in 2000? I know good diet and exercise played a role but he has good genes too.
