I noticed that too, when I saw it on FB earlier.

Hell, the movie couldn't even figure out how to explain his name, I guess they just settled on that version.

James a.k.a Jimmy Howlett who took his biological Fathers name "Logan".

I can't remember but how did he change it from Jimmy to Logan in Origins?

They never showed it in the movie. In the Origin comics, it was Rose who changed his name to Logan when they went to work in the mining town, because she couldn't use his real name. He was barely talking, and 'Logan' was the first name she thought of, for obvious reasons.

It actually replaced 'James' as his first name. Rose was still calling him that a few years later, and he corrected her and said it was Logan.

look like wolverine is integral in altering the future from the past. Setting up X-Men: Apocalypse

I always thought that his name was James Logan Howlett.

He was born as James Howlett. Although it's revealed that his father was Thomas Logan, the groundskeeper on their estate, so technically Logan is his last name. When he and Rose went on the run after he killed Thomas, they ended up at a mining town. Wolverine was still in shock from the incident at the house and had basically stopped talking, and Rose was afraid people were after them, so she told Smitty (the foreman at the mine) that his name was Logan. It was just the first name that popped into her head. The name stuck after that.

Later, after he lost his memory after Weapon X, Logan was just the only part of his name he could remember. No one knew if it was his first or last name.

He remembers his first name is really James now, but he rarely uses it.

In DOFP, [blackout]we do hear someone in 1973 call him Jimmy.[/blackout]

What?! the only one that would know that is Victor! How could it be :S

But I assume you won´t answer that to me on this thread right :(

EDIT: Nevermind me. It just came into my head that Charles could have read his mind. I wonder what happened with the memories from his 1973 self. Are those overwritten by the 2023 memories? The Wolverine from 1973 clearly remembers everything from his past while the 2023 conscience doesn't.

On a side note, Origin was so good. If only they had made that the first Wolverine movie... of course half the flick wouldn't be Hugh Jackman though.

Charles [BLACKOUT]isn't the one who calls him Jimmy.[/BLACKOUT]

I loved Origin. Even if they'd left some elements - his mom's freakout when she saw the claws, the way all of those heightened senses kicked in that same night and he was crying that everything was so loud. That Smitty was the one who called him "bub" and was always chomping on a cigar (I loved how that was where that all came from), and the part where he starts to pop the claws for the second time and runs into the wolf pack in the woods. That stuff was SO good.

They probably wouldn't have had time to include Rose, but I loved how she looked a little like Jean Grey.

Dammit, Origins. :argh:

There's a sequel to Origin out now. I'm about three issues in so far. It's disgusting, but it's pretty good.

Yeah I imagine Rose was part of the reason Logan is obsessed with Jean. Like some kind of phantom memory of his childhood. I'm also one to think Dog was Sabretooth, at least in the continuity of that story. What is the sequel to Origin is that the one with that guy with the American flag face?

I remember thinking that when I first read it, but they've brought that character back since then, and he's not Sabertooth.

No, I think that was the Origin series. This one takes place a few years after he killed Rose and ran off, and he was living with a wolf pack and ended up being captured by a traveling circus (which he has since been rescued from). Both Sabertooth and Mr. Sinister have been involved in that story so far.

I only read first origin but i always thought If Dog wasn't sabretooth he was related to him
maybe father or grandfather.

Oh sounds interesting! I didn't know there was a direct sequel :wow: I will check that out! I need my fill of traveling circuses after I binge watched Carnivale last month
