I guess people prefer the post 9/11 dread and paranoia of Nolan's Batman films?

There Is big difference in subject matter In X-Men and dark knight films.

The way some act In Us they do like the post 9/11 dread and paranoia.

Ideally, that is true. But, works seems to have been done at least on X-Men Apocalypse for a while now, so they're fairly ahead on that. Now, TASM3, given all of TASM2's rewrites, yeah. They seem behind. No argument there.
Yeah, that is a sensible way of looking at it. I can believe that there isn't much at all for TASM3, where I'd expect real conversation and a treatment or two has been done for Apocalypse.

Maybe Magneto rejoins Xavier after Apocalypse, like he did in the comics for a while! I am thinking that is possible. Hey, X3 hinted that in the 80s they were a team again :oldrazz:

As you know nothing In except In FC and DOFP matters anymore in films.

I don't want magneto as good guy especilly now since we haven't had a full Magneto VS X-Men since the trek like Reboot In DOFP. But,I firmly expext to have magneto as horseman In APocalypse who later betreys Apocalypse.Filling role SInster had In comic version of Age of APocalypse.

Yeah I think there was that pic Singer tweeted of him and his team having a meeting for Apocalypse months ago.

Why, based on ASM and ASM 2, should we assume they even care that they are behind schedule on the script?

Definitely agreed. I think you can tell Singer and Kinberg have made serious progress based on interviews, too.

I'm hoping that isn't the case, and that instead Magneto works against Apocalypse and we get the ACTUAL Mr. Sinister. I'd love them to introduce him here, and then maybe make him the villain of a later X-Men film or of X-Force. But, we shall see. I think it is possible they may go this direction, but even if he is a horseman at first, I can still see him ending up with the X-Men by film's end.

so a worse second Friday than Cap2 and Spidey2. ok, America.
This just tells me that american dont care that much about how epic and huge a cast can be, but more about the concept/theme of the movie. Sometimes a huge part of american care, sometimes they dont

I don't think many people watch films just because of the cast. Like you said, it's more about the actual story of the film and what it's about that attracts the general audience to go and see it.

haha. It's clear they don't even follow the scripts they have. They rewrite on the fly and schedule massive reshoots to reform whatever movie Webb shot. Poor Spidey. X-Men may have had a huge drop but it's a good film and it's still going to sell more tickets than First Class domestically, I think.

And Darth I agree that the Magneto betrays them at the end plot needs to not happen anymore and using Magneto as the villain over and over again is tiresome as well. Thank goodness they are using Apocalypse and hopefully Mags doesn't betray them at the end.

definetly. Its just a bit sad how this impressive X-Men, combining so many movie and tv stars and from both x-men series cant atract a huge audience. I find it a bit hard to believe, tbh

The idea of the movie star attracting people to spend money on their films have been dying a slow death. Will Smith is probably the last of that juggernaut.

Nowadays it's either the concept that entices a crowd or the synergy between an actor and the concept/character (like RDJ as Stark), otherwise they are just the faces that bridge the audience to the concept.

Those movies have been hot garbage, minus the first one which I actually enjoy quite a bit. The sequels were loud, obnoxious, and downright juvenile.

But they keep making the same film over and over again and yet they still make more money. Transformers 4 looks different though, in terms of story.

I get you both, and I love the First Class crews take on the Charles/Eric relationship, especially with what McAvoy and Fassbender do with it. But every film with them is the same. 5 films, and 4 end with Eric "betraying" Charles and almost destroying any hope of a Human/Mutant coexistent, only for Charles and crew to bring it back. The only thing the first film was missing was the betrayal.

At some point you have to move away from that, and for a good while. It is getting repetitive and expected at this point now. Hopefully with how this film ended, they can do that.

This. Apocalypse should be a breath of fresh air hopefully.:woot:

... what's wrong with that? Are you saying the core story of a film is more important to Americans than the size of a cast? If so, that's how it's supposed to work. If movies sold on the size and names of the cast we'd see films like Movie 43 making all the money.

So Days of Future Past probably won't beat The Last Stand's US box office, despite eight years of inflation and expensive 3D ticket prices.

It may not even beat X2.

Is that Brett Ratner I hear laughing-?

People like seeing robots clanging against each other, impersonal structures going boom, racist jokes I guess.

How did you come to that conclusion?

Well Bay gives people what they want.:funny:

Absolutely, but....these are summer blockbusters. People want action and spectacle. Michael Bay does that better than almost anyone, and definitely Bryan Singer.

Singer does okay with action and spectacle, but he's primarily a thriller director, and obviously he brings things like suspense, compelling characters, attention to detail, atmosphere, and many other traits. Bay has none of these. But he can do action.

even with this drop I think it gets to 225mill domestic but I really tought it would do 250 to 275 domestic

I assume he came to that conclusion because TLS did over $234 million and DoFP is tracking to do significantly less than that. It's now estimated that DoFP is going to make less this weekend than TASM2 did in its second weekend, and TASM2 has pretty much no chance at hitting The Last Stand's domestic total.

Let's hope so. But Edge of Tomorrow may take the sci-fi/action crowd, and How to Train Your Dragon 2 will get the kids.

At this moment epsiclly after BOM bragged DOFp fell 72 percent friday the best case sceniro could be 200 to 210 Million domesticly. It's a question mark with ASM2 dropping
out of top 10 next weekend if it will hit 200 million.

Transformers isn't my cup of tea but I'm not conceded enough to need every film to appeal to me. The Transformers films are billion dollar juggernauts and people love them and the audience isn't un-intelligent for loving them. Some of the best posters I know love the Transformers films.

I find all the Transformers films very entertaining. It's very easy to look down on action and spectacle, but it takes a lot of talent to create a great action scene. It's not something just anyone can do - Christopher Nolan, for instance, can't do action no matter how many times he tries, nor can Tim Burton, great directors though they are. It's an under-rated skill.
