Discuss Hulk in Avengers 4. The guy was amazing in Avengers and Ragnarok but subdued in AoU and IW (after that beatdown by Thanos). Will we see Hulk at his rampaging best in Avengers 4?

I'm sure Ruffalo enjoyed all the screentime in Infinity War.

I didn't like him in thor and IW, he turned a comic relief, Banner is more than that.

I thought Hulk was best in Ragnarok (after the first Avengers), and I didn't like what we got after the fight with Thanos (which I did like) in IW.

Ruffalo's Banner I also liked most in the first Avengers. I definitely preferred him as Banner to Ed Norton in that film. In the last 2 films though he's starting to become annoying with the dumb jokes/one liners.

I definitely see where you guys are coming from. If they could have dialed back on the jokes for anyone it should have been Banner, but its pretty much in character to what Taika did with him Ragnarok which is probably why it didn't bother me so much. Also, Ruffalo actually seems pretty natural to me when he is being funny, but I'm sure that has a lot to do with the genuine chemistry he already has with the rest of the cast.

Lets hope The Hulk gets his do justice in this movie though, because I will admit that I was pretty dissapointed with what we got in IW. I trust in the Russo's though.

Agreed, Banner/Hulk was best in A1. Bruce Banner works best when he is the reluctant hero type.

I'm curious what they do in A4.

Avengers and Ragnarok are my favourite Hulk outings. Banner was best in Avengers too. Hopefully it all comes together in A4, and it certainly looks like they are taking him in an interesting direction.

Not going to lie, I’m disappointed there was no Hulk in the trailer.

Hated the 'performance related 'gag' in IW. No more of that please.

No need for Hulk in any of the trailers. They will want to save the reappearance of Hulk for the right moment that will be jaw-dropping during the movie itself.

Thing is, Hulk needs to learn how to actually fight off he's gonna beat Thanos hand-to-hand.

I really liked the fake trailer leak that described Cap asking Hulk why he’s training so hard and Hulk replied for the rematch.

Ruffalo's Banner is so dissimilar from his comic-book counterpart at this point that he's practically playing a different character. In Ragnarok and Infinity War, he is - as others have pointed out - nothing but comic relief. Furthermore, in neither movie does he demonstrate his high level of intelligence; he hasn't done so since Marvel's Avengers. However, due to the presumed significant role that the Quantum Realm will play in Endgame, I think that he'll finally again employ his above-average mental faculties therein in order to help the team develop the white and grey/ silver uniforms that we've learned about via leaks.

I would say Banner showcased his intellect in AoU. He did help make both Ultron and Vision.

Truth be told, I'm not quite keen on the idea of Banner's and Hulk's personalities converging into a Professor Hulk type scenario. At least not yet. The Hulk had only just started to get a more fleshed out personality in Thor: Ragnarok. I really wanted to see more of that.

I agree, I would like see more of Hulks personality rather than a merged personality.

It could be it’s not a merged personality but Banner finds a way to turn into Hulk whilst keeping his own consciousness. This would be interesting as it would clearly annoy the Hulk and create more conflict between the two rather than bringing them closer together.

I definitely think we will still see a lot of the personality we got from Hulk in Ragnarok. Ruffalo said in an interview last year that him and Rocket are going to become good friends and you can imagine that those interactions are going to be complete gold.

Can’t wait to see these two become pals.

I’m not going to comment on endgame or any marvel movie after the original avengers because I honestly have nothing nice to say about them or the betrayal of one of my favorite characters ( Hulk). I would like to pose a question though.

What if after all of this debacle that is the mcu that universal gets the Hulk back and does a stand alone.. kinda like the tv show did with bixby. I would love to see james mcavoy in the titular role! I really think he has the chops to play all aspects of the Hulk and would really do justice to the character or duality of the character. I really liked him in split and begrudgedly in glass, and just think he really could pull off a great Hulk movie.

What don't you like about the Hulk? I'm curious.

I think the idea of Hulk and Banner merging into Professor Hulk is a perfect way to bring resolution to the character arc they've had in the MCU so far. Hulk has been maturing and gaining intelligence over time, while Banner has been struggling against and gradually coming to terms with the Hulk being a part of him (which I've always interpreted as being sort of analogous to the real life struggle a person might have in coming to terms with certain aspects of themselves that they would rather keep suppressed). Professor Hulk would represent both Hulk's completed maturation and Banner's completed acceptance of the Hulk, resulting in a deadly combo of brains and brawn that would be instrumental in defeating Thanos.

And then after Endgame, they can have Professor Hulk go off on space adventures with Thor.
