Human Target

I'm not sure why anyone would think Idol would be a good lead in for HT. Most scripted shows don't do well following it. Someone posted an article in the Canceled thread about how Bones did best, and it only held 40-something% of Idol viewers. I can't see much overlap in the demographic, or many Idol fans being interested in HT.

That's right, but who knows why Fox does the things that they do. :(

Glad to see that the ratings are going up at least, though I'm not sure if its enough.

What do we have to do to help the show possibly get a third season?

Human sacrifice?

I'd say do a save our show campaign, but I don't know how to send Fox 'dudes' in the mail.

I'm not as big of a fan of Family Guy as I used to be but right now this quote still feels pretty relevant:

Peter Griffin: Everybody, I got bad news. We've been canceled.
Lois Griffin: Oh, no, Peter, how could they do that?
Peter Griffin: Well, unfortunately, Lois, there's just no more room on the schedule. We've just got to accept the fact that Fox has to make room for terrific shows like "Dark Angel," "Titus," "Undeclared," "Action," "That 80's Show," "Wonderfalls," "Fastlane," "Andy Richter Controls the Universe," "Skin," "Girls Club," "Cracking Up," "The Pits," "Firefly," "Get Real," "Freaky Links," "Wanda at Large," "Costello," "The Lone Gunmen," "A Minute With Stan Hooper," "Normal, Ohio," "Pasadena," "Harsh Realm," "Keen Eddie," "The Street," "American Embassy," "Cedric the Entertainer," "The Tick," "Louie," and "Greg the Bunny."
Lois Griffin: Is there no hope?
Peter Griffin: Well, I suppose if all those shows go down the tubes, we might have a shot.

It just seems strange that despite a clear upswing in ratings, everyone's talking like the show's marked for death. NBC has given full season orders to new shows that have done worse in ratings that HT's last three eps. Is a 2.6, or even 2.3 THAT bad that Fox would cancel the show?

It is Fox.

And NBC sucks and is #4 right now and they've been on a steady decline of disaster for several years now. Underscored by the disastrous debacle of The Tonight Show/Leno Show mess.

I'm just saying, Human Target's got better ratings than Fringe right now!! Yeah, you can say it's on Friday, and no one expects ratings to be higher than they've been for Fridays the last few weeks, but still!! And you can't tell me Fringe doesn't cost more to produce than Human Target!

It just infuriates me to see how ratings reporting is skewed:

"Fringe is the Number One Show On Fridays!!!" (with a 1.9)
"Poor Human Target Struggles even with American Idol lead-in" (with a 2.6)

I've always thought an HT/Fringe lineup would have been awesome.

And if HT could keep most of audience, it could be the new #1 on Fridays, and Fox could own that night.

I never really liked the addition of Ilsa Pucci and Ames. I thought they were pretty bland. I know the actresses are on different shows now, but I really preferred Emmanuelle Vaugier and Autumn Reeser's characters in the first season and wish they had become permanent additions. The show would've been much better and definitely something to watch each week.

Well, if NOF gets canceled, but HT survives, maybe we'll get Autumn back.

Getting Autumn back would be great. I think her character had such great potential.

Layla would've been a great addition to the cast and actually added something to the team.

Ames is just an annoying ditz. Guerrero's line about her in the last episode sort of basically says everything I feel about Ames. Her marriage subplot makes no sense then the whole flirting/trying to set up Chance with a girl was ridiculous.

Miller took things a step too far than they needed to be. If there's a third season I think Winston basically needs to be the boss in the office like the first season. Pucci needs to be a less active financier of the company.

You know full well that's not going to happen. If they wanted a character to just be a financier, they'd have made the character male. Aside from forcing a romantic subplot, there was a clear intent on balancing out the "boys' club" dynamic of season one.

She's a boring romantic foil for Chance. Emmanuelle Vaugier would've been much better. I find that Pucci and Ames actually weaken the dynamic of the show because they're bland characters themselves. What's more, the whole show seems to have been scaled down in terms of epicness and adventure. I'd like Pucci to just withdraw her financial support and for the team to have to fund themselves again.

And someone please get rid of Ames. She is dull as ditchwater. Bring Layla back. I don't really know that either Pucci or Ames are bringing in more female viewers.

Well they aren't. Ratings were going down until the last couple of shows.

I don't mind Ames, but I think she was tamed a little too quickly. I could've stood to see a few more episodes where she tries to go off on her own and accidentally f***s everything up.

Chance and Ilsa is kind of weird. I'm not sure what to make of that yet. The show was obviously pushing them toward this point for several episodes, but I don't know.

Anyone know if the season finale got some love and/or advertising during the Super Bowl?

I thought Pucci and Guerrero shoulda hooked up instead.

I thought Pucci and Guerrero shoulda hooked up instead.

I wanted more of an indication of Ilsa's sister-in-law at least being flattered by Guerro's como-ons during that hostage episode. They didn't have to build on it, just something more to say, "hey, maybe this short hippie-looking fellow isn't so bad. He did save my life, after all!" :woot:

But yeah, I noticed there were zero commercials for the HT season finale during the Super Bowl, and quite frankly, I haven't seen any period. To be fair, I don't watch Fox that much outside of catching up with episodes online, but I would have thought it would have been nice to at least try to make sure folks now there's an episode on tonight, and that it's the season finale.

And what's worse, I think we're gonna have a long wait for renewal/cancellation news. But if they do renew the show, no more of this 13-Episode season crap. The show deserves a full 22 like all their other shows.

I agree with KenK. There should have been about 22 episodes this season to flesh out more storylines. They're just now having Chance and Ilsa hooking up and the season ends the next episode. I'm not all that into that storyline, but if they're going to do it it needs more time to develop instead of being right before the season finale.

I would have rather they waited for the actual season finale.

What a season ending twist that would have been. Chance and Ilsa finally admitting their feelings.

I think the problem with this season is that it's been so fast paced, it's drowned out some of the character development. In season 1, Chance believed that no one deserved to die, and we learn why he needs to find redemption so badly. In season 2, we find out that Chance believes no one deserves to die...except him. That's a pretty dramatic revelation. That's a really dramatic revelation, and really opens up the character. And throughout the season, we see that Chance takes every opportunity to punish himself by refusing to allow himself to be in a relationship, and he even gets called out on it.

But all these character elements are easy to overlook, or get swept away by the pacing. I didn't even catch some of these things until I started thinking back over the season.

Fox should have put Human Target on after the superbowl. I can't stand Glee...so I quickly changed the channel when that crap came on.

hey I love HT and dislike Glee, but Glee deserved the spot more and fit the requirement that Fox has with post Super Bowl show shows

Decent finale last night

The finale felt rushed to me, the story was such a big one and the enemy so powerful it felt like it should have been a double episode at the very least.
