Human Target

Fox picks up 'Target'

Fox has picked up comic book drama "Human Target" to series.

"Target," from WBTV, DC Comics and Wonderland, emerged as an early front-runner and was the best-received pilot at the network's screenings last week.

Based on the DC Comics title, the show centers on Christopher Chance (Mark Valley), a mysterious freelancer who offers a unique form of security for hire: He assumes the identities of people in danger, becoming the "human target" on behalf of his clients.

Jackie Earle Haley and Chi McBride co-star in the project written by Jon Steinberg and directed by Simon West. The two exec produced the pilot with McG.

Yep. Which means I need to watch Monday's stuff.

I hope if they do get renewed for a new season they should revamp the show again. Add a Tech expert this time. Maybe actually have Chance become the master of disguise he's suppose to be. I'd also like to see a recurring villian. Batiste has only been in a couple of episodes. Maybe bring back the Old man as a recurring villian.

Season 3 needs to be a blending of the first two seasons.
Season 1 had a slower pace, was more dramatic, and had the orchestral score.
Season 2 had a faster pace, was more comedic, and has the licensed music. It also had more dynamic action sequences.

I don't mind the comedy, but it does feel like an episode of Chuck when it happens (since the old Chuck show runner now runs HT). Having comedic moments, or even a couple of comedic episodes are fine. But they really need to bring back some of the slower, more dramatic stuff.

I don't mind the licensed music, but bring back the original theme, and blend score and licensed stuff together in the episodes.

I think HT went from one extreme to the other. And if they can find a happy middle, it'll reach new levels of awesomeness.

I kind of agree, but I want the original theme back.

Agreed. That's one thing I won't budge on.

The new theme doesn't bother me like it used to, but it's no McCreary. Or even on the same planet.

LOL the new episode was on TONIGHT! I totally missed that. Hope my DVR got it.

Interesting episode... nice use of that idiot...

season final next week only 1 hour? bummer, should be 2 hours

can't hide the moneymaker

They didn't want the show to become Mission Impossible with Chance wearing a mask a lot.

I like when he was a temp with John Michael Higgins

they pretty much have him do what Michael does in Burn Notice, just assume a cover for the mission, which Im fine with

Do you think they brought the kiss in too soon? I think tension is fun. Where do they go from here? Maybe we will see next week.

I honestly don't want Chance and Ilsa to be together so I hope it doesn't go much further.

Like I've always said, the show really IS Fox's answer to Burn Notice. Both shows work, but even I'll admit, Burn Notice's problem has been that for all the times they've sold us on Michael getting to the truth about the people that burned him, it's just been a seemingly endless series of fakeouts. The overarching story just overpowers the show and doesn't always let you enjoy it on a stand-alone basis. Human Target had (still has) its mysteries, but they don't let them govern the course of the show.

I sort of agree with Ken that the fakeouts in Burn Notice do become tiresome. I sort of lost track of everything over the past couple of seasons even after watching every episode.

Burn notice also got pretty repetitive real fast. I'm getting sick of the Miami location every week. At least with Human Target they change it up a bit with the locales.

Well, seeing as how Michael wasn't able to leave Miami, it made sense.

Well..the ratings are in. Human target did a season high last night of about 10 million viewers. Unfortunately....it went to 8 million by 9:30....and more bad news it lost more than half of the American Idol lead in.

On a positive note...the commerical for the season finale said...SEASON finale and not series finale. But they've cancelled shows before that have done that...so that means nothing.
