I Am Doom....discuss me [merged-2]

My daughter's Mom, my ex-wife, told me last night that she was ordering ...I don't remember if she said which seasons it was, but she was ordering a "Charmed" collection because of how hot she thinks "Cole" is. She's totally into Julian... a huge fan of his.... I'm almost flattered that she has good taste in men. SHe picked me once right? :D

Hey, tell her to watch which one she is getting. I think only season one is out and he doesn't start as a regular until season three. And if she thinks Julian is hot she is one intelligent lady.

A character from the campy "Flash Gordon" movie from the 1980's. He was one of Ming's henchmen and had a Doom-like costume. I'm sure someone has an image of it somewhere.

LMAO. I never saw it, but it sounds pretty bad...epecially the song from Queen "Flash! Ahhhh!

Will do. And thanks, that's a compliment to me... I tell ya' ;)

My reasons for seeing this are diminishing...all I have left is:

a)Jessica Alba is amazingly hot
b)Michael Chiklis is very good on The Shield
c)Maybe...just maybe Doom will be badass

Overall, I think it'll be a decent superhero flick.
Falling somewhere between X2 and Daredevil(Underrated if you ask me)

But now I'm very interested in Doom's comic origin.
Can anybody tell me which books those would be?
Much appreciated.

Excellent posting, Carter. I've followed your posts for some time now and you never fail at being genuine with your comments. Good job.
A good Doom story to pick up can be found in Iron Man #150 (you can grab this off of ebay for around $5.00 bucks). The story sends both Iron Man and Doctor Doom back in time to the King Arthur days where they become knights. A truly unique story that demonstrates alot of Doom's personality and treachery!

I believe that was a two part story in Iron Man 149 and 150.

I have an extremely naughty Doom story up over on Adultfanfiction.net--adults only, please!--called Minion. My pen name there is Gevaisa, just as it is here.

Well, I finished reading the novelization and I have to say that I have difficulties with movie Doom...

1. He's basically an exact copy of Green Goblin from the Spider-Man movie. He resembles GG much more than he does Doom.

2. Even if he succeeded in destroying the FF, he'd still be royally screwed. Where's he going to run and hide? The guy's entire body is covered with metal. Are the authorities just gonna let him off with a warning? I don't think he's powerful enough to shrug off the full might of the US army.

3. If Doom likes what he's become, then why does he want to kill Reed who he considers responsible for his disfigurement? My only explanation is that he is insane. Re: Green Goblin.

They didn't just make changes, imo, they also made him a bad villain. Going from the best villain in all of comicdom to one of the worst marvel villain on screen will not be a pleasant experience to watch. :(

Scary...

I still wanna see it. :)

I'm thinking less and less that there will be a next one. And to be honest, I don't know that i even give a damn if there is.

If it gets a sequel it'll be in spite of how lame Klytus is, not because of it. Best thing that could happen is for the sequel to not feature Klytus.

In what mad world do we live in where Doom being in a movie HURTS it ?

Damn you to hell, evil monkeys, damn you all!

Oh well, it seems Doom is a "fun" villain now. It can only mean people will have fun watching a campy Doom on screen.

...
No ?

Lol, that is pretty scary.

Actually, it looks a hell of a lot like what one company of FX was proposing to Fox last year.

Then again, it couldn't have been worse than what we got, now, could it ?

Sorry, I just HAD to post that picture. It's so damned ugly it's funny.

That is quite possibly the worst action figure I have ever seen

Doom is a simple villain now...and easy to understand...perfect for a summer audience adverse to too much complexity.

Funny, I thought comic books were supposed to be less sophisticated than movies?

Apparentely, Fox didn't know that.

Don't believe me, just look below.

ROFL!

DOOM IS STEPHEN HARPER!

I knew it!

Ya know, the worst part...

spoilers

....is when he decides to call himself Dr. Doom and he actually mentions the videogame "Doom".

You have to hear it to believe it.

Yep. Even if Klytus was not masqurading as Dr. Doom, he's still be a terrible, terrible villian.

And btw, 1980 Flash Gordon > 2005 FF just on the Queen soundtrack alone.

Haha, I forgot about that. I laughed so much I scared myself when I read that the first time. Doom making wisecrack, and bad one at that. Genius I tell ya!

He says somethings along the lines of "I though about calling myself DOOM, but it was already used in a video game, and so I choose Dr. Doom".

And I oh so refuse to begin to explain why that is beyond horrible.

Lol. I refuse to begin to explain why it is so atrocious that it makes me laugh.

Oh my good God in heaven. That might be the dumbest thing I've heard yet about this crapfest.

Carter said:

Believe it. It's one of those things that sounds so stupid, it has to be true.

I'm not totally sure he's going to say it in the movie, but it is in the book. And I don't know why Peter David (the author) would just add a thing like that in there if he didn't have to.

I don't know why it didn't stick to me, though. I guess my brain tried to erase it, or something.

Thanks Sardaukar for reminding me, because it could have nearly killed me in theatre, remembering it while hearing it.

Whew.
