I Am Doom....discuss me [merged-2]

^Superb post, and I agree. Man, I wish Christopher Columbus would have ended up directing FF, that would have been a true classic. If it was at Fox back then, now I understand why he bailed. Same with Peyton Reed.......Wasn't the Scooby Doo director Raja Gosnell attached at one point?

The word is respect for the source material..........

Strangely neither of those 2 directors gave me much hope, colombus shares the same distinction as Story in that ppl see him as a journeyman director

Shows what Fox is now.

The best they got was Singer. And where is he now ? Elsewhere, with one of the biggest franchise there is, with one ****ing huge budget, and with one heck of a huge freedom for such a movie.

And guess how Superman will turn out ? Probably one of the biggest movie of next year. FF sure as heck won't be remembered for being something of an event in the line of the blockbuster movie of this year, especially when you got movies like BB, WoTW, ROTS and kong in the very same year.

All by directors with full freedom, and visions.

Except, well, FF of course.

Sigh.

Well, at least he's got experience. While i'm no fan of his, both his Harry Potter were good movies, imo, and his first Home alone was also a very good one. But he never did anything that would prove to me he could have adapted a terrifying Doom well, though. :down

Then again, there is no way it could ever have been worse than what we are getting.

while i dont think it will be the disaster you do Thes its impossible to argue that the directors in on the movies that you mention are certainly among the best there is and do have full creative control over their respective projects

other than Home Alone i can't say i rate any of the movies on that list that highly

And that's why they usually feel special for their respective fanbase! We know, fans of those franchise at least, that when we were going to see Batman begins, we would be getting something special, by a director with talent and who respected the source material.

Kong. Does any Kong fans of the original movie, who've seen the lord of the rings trilogy, and knows how much of a fan and how talented Jackson is, think that new remake will be merely average ? I doubt it. Most fans are overwhelmed by what we will get. We are beyond excited!

...

While Doom fans want to impaled Story and co. and make them all pay for the travesty we are getting. The situation is a bit... different, and less satisfactory if you are a fan of Doom, like I am.

We sure aren't getting the same treatment Kong fans are getting. (and fan of both franchises)

In Home Alone, he made too many traps in such a short period of time, as well as planned them. I know it is a family film, but it bothers me.

You have to concede the Potter films, but for the most part, I agree with you. I did like Mrs. Doubtfire though.......SUB-MARINER is interesting as well......

Columbus seems to go the easy way, same as Story, with his movies. Except he seems to be able to handle big franchises like Harry Potter. Fans aren't jumping on his throat, and that is an important aspect, imo.

Can't argue with most of that,i think the real culprit though is Rothman as he is the descision man

And we have a winner!!!!

FF has to pay for Rothman to loses his job, and for Fox to wake up.

Doom might even be the martyre in all of that.

Heh.

^Cruel. DDINO? It looks like that's starting to stick...........that joins CINO and what else?

DDINO is up there with Batman and Robins and CINO. That's for sure. But is it worse ? I'll have to see.

Different origin, different look, different powers, different personality, and fun instead of scary.

All check!

Move over CINO, there's a new traversty in town, and his name is Victor Von Doom.

...

Good lord...

Do any of you guys think that if you wern't such massive Doom comic fans that you would enjoy the movie Doom purely as a screen villain in the way most of the general audience will see it ?

Movie Doom may very well be a good villain, but he will not be nearly as good as comic Doom. I will look at this movie from a movie standpoint (I always try to), but Doom could easily have been much better than what we are getting.

i have a feeling they are trying to show how a man BECOMES something like doom.maybe they went on the wrong track but for sequels i belive he will be alitle more of the doom we know and love

Of course, as long as it's a good villain....A good villain has great motives and a plan. What are DDINO's motives? Do you know?
