You are saying Doom has never done this in a comic book????

They need to take these 3 goals and compare with the movie Doom, and see how short they fell in portraying the character. Doom would never allow a board of executives to have any control over him. Bad writing.
A huge scientific project that could make or break this company if it fails. It fails, and he's in big trouble.
An obligatory getting fired and put off by the board sequence, and the dreadful stare as we know what the villian is going to do next.
A killing of the head of the obligatory getting fired or put off scene where we saw the dreadful stare of the villian as we know what he's going to do next NOW actually doing it.
The killing of a second-string character there just to introduce tension or drama.
Dr. Stroom and Doctor in lab, both are grabbed by their necks and FLUNG into or through glass.
Goblin is rejected by Spider-man after a proposal to work together. Thus, he fights back and attempts to destroy Spider-Man, believing all along that he is better than most of the people in the world. Doom is rejected by Sue STorm and the Fantastic Four. Thus, he fights back to destroy their interpersonal all along beliveing the he is better than most of humanity nad embracing his destiny, which Goblin alos talked about.
Did they just drain the AUTOMATIC VILLIAN PLOT DISPENSER and had to reload?
You never replied after I ellaborated my disagreement. The Guard said:...the similarities were just too many to be forgiven?
Half the movies ever made have this plot device. Since half of who Doom was revolved around power and not losing it, this became an important plot point.
He wasn't fired. From what I gathered, they were pulling their money out of his operations, because he used his money to fund the space exploration. Leaving him powerless. It wasn't a "You're out, Norman" situation, it was a "You're on your own now, Victor".
Did he get killed with a pumpkin bomb in broad daylight in front of hundreds of people and Mary Jane? Nope. He got a hole burned through him in a dark parking garage, in a much more personal and brutal sequence. You're saying movies can't have glares in them now if another movie did? Nevermind that Doom had a "angry thinking" shot and Dafoe had his "weird smile" in SPIDER-MAN.
Isn't that usually why second string characters usually get killed?
One of them is killed because their friend is simply insane, and is flung across an entire lab. One of them is killed because the villain is angry about his situation and wants to keep it under wraps. He is only flung a shorter distance, after having his neck broken.
At no point does Dr. Doom even appeal to The Fantastic Four to join him. The Goblin didn't say a thing about embracing his destiny. He said that the others in New York existed to support the exceptional people.
You could say that about a lot of villains. Plot points cannot really NOT be cliche, since damn near everything has been done. But I can't remember the last time I saw this particular villain type in a film. The basics of The Goblin's plot were to further his business ends, and when Spider-Man got in the way and he figured out who he was, to destroy him before he could stop Goblin. The Fantastic Four never tried to stop Doom. Doom's plot was more or less revenge, brought on by the fact that he blamed them for his condition, blamed them for the loss of his empire, and everything else he held dear.
Thanks for posting those! I got a charge of that when I read it about a year ago. What issue was that in, by the way? Oh, and I know what you mean about these threads getting closed and merged. I have a hard time finding a previous discussion when that happens.snazzy J said:I also have a few pictures from an issue of Spider-Man where he meets the superhero/villian tailor. I was gonna post them in the thread about Doom's cloak, but apparently that got closed for some reason. Anyway, here's Doom, along with a few other of his notable clients:
And it turns out his first superclient was none other than our good friend Mr. Benjamin Grimm.
That is the true essence of Doom; that he can stand amidsts Superpowered titans as an equal and yet a mere mortal simultaneously. That is one of many reasons why Doom was absent from this film.Agent 194 said:I always saw Doom the same way I saw Batman. A self made man of enormous resources from within. Not someone who needed cosmic rays or the training of Tibetan criminals to make him into his destiny.

The Guard said:People, this Doom was STARTING OUT. He DID stand with some amazingly powerful beings. He got beat because he's the villain and they are the heroes.
TheSaintofKillers said:"It's an origin. Everything's different about him, it's atrocious, but guys, it's an origin. It will get better. I swear! They waste a whole movie, but I repeat, it's an origin! So it's ok."
Sure makes this movie Doom version THAT much better.

TheSaintofKillers said:I sure as heck won't buy the dvd. I didn't buy Punisher, and I sure won't buy FF on dvd. Unless they do release a director's cut, and it does indeed make the movie 10 times better.
But I doubt somes deleted scenes will improve much what we got...
Oh, and everyone's ****ting. It's human nature. We just do it on poor movies, that's all.
RedIsNotBlue said:Your gonna watch it again...BWAHAHAHAHA! Sorry I just find hypocrites funny. Yes *****ing is human nature...but when you do it all day and nothing comes out of it it is moronic.
