I Am Doom....discuss me [merged-2]

Sorry LS, the Rivalry is almost non existant, because in this movie D...(ghh i feel bad even to write his name about this movie...) okay, DINO, doesn't show any of his two real features, scientific genius and willpower. The armour was also a strong element in that way. The scene in which DINO asks medical help adds to this trend. All it remains is..financial genius?Wow, impressive. Although he loose his empire..so...ah yes because he goes insane...INSANE?HE cannot be insane for god's sake!He is almost pure genius and willpower, with a little vanity(but it's more pride excess..heck..). Instead he goes madly around the streets killing people and battling the FF(which, after the incredibles, seems to stay for Family Fun i think) like a crazy crybaby? It is a shame that a very talented actor as Mac Mahon, showing great Doom(ouch) acting possibilities, gets tramped by this..family crap script? And the ending cannot lead to a better Doom, because if they make enough money with this, they will make it like this one; if not, the sequel will not be, so... And putting him in Latveria all of a sudden and even filling him with repairing flashbacks will not wash away all this crap, because in this ORIGIN movie shows that:
he's not a genius, either mistycal or scientific(i espect the Electro powers caged in his statue body will lead to increased synapses yeah?:P c r a p p y.)
he's a weakling, the plan to scatter the 4 is awfully done.
he's got no pride, honour
He goes insane(die fox!)
he's got to rely on powers unsearched and undeserved.
he hate Reed because of his miscalculation, because he stolen his girlfriend and because he thinks i'ts all his fault he lost his financial empire, ah not to mention he's crazi ...this is where DINO get wrong the most for me.
Commander Cobra of G.I.Joe was a better villain that this...

And you're basing your statements on....?

All the material showed in a year to now.
All the script reviews, all the movie reviews, all the official statements.
Oh well, if all the images/trailers/leaked footage/official lines/script was false, good for me:)
But then Fox did another movie in secret:)

I will find and scan in the pic of the original costuming Tim wanted for Doom...it's very regal, with gold trim, kilt and real, jointed body armor.

We should make our own studio, and make movies that cost nothing, but make us a lot of money, then buy the FF from Fox.. :p

Oh my god! That's beyond awesome!!!

Not 100% true to the comics, but he's got an armor, and he looks like a king! Which is what matters the most, imo.

Seeing this hurts even more, damn you! :(

And then people defend what we are getting...

Now, just imagine the FEW changes that would have been required to make this adaptation 10 times better. Put those flashbacks in the movie. Make him a genius. If Fox is cheap, they can still have him be a businessman, whatever. But have him get disfigured, and wear that armor with his mask, instead of the powers he got. Have the rest (ending battle) pretty much be the same, but have him loses another way (so he has to go back to latveria by himself, and from his own will).

Really, it would have been so simple. I mean, doing that sure wouldn't have been much harder then what they did. Oh, and have Doom cry a "RiiiIIiiiiichard" when he loses.

Of course, they suck, and we are getting the travesty we are getting. But it was so near, and yet, now it is so far.

This entire struggle has always stemmed from dissenting fans criticising the studios and conformist fans insulting the dissenters. That does not imply equal culpability, does it?

The entire struggle? Herr I've been here from the very beginning, and have watched this whole thing unfold from its birth. And your statement above is certainly lopsided.

Behold:

"Sheep." "Conformists." "Studio shill." "Studio Plant." "Positivites".

Look at those word selections Herr. What do each of them have in common? Do you see a pattern?

Each and every one of them is a condescending dismissmal. They are used to paint optimistic fans as incapable of thinking for themselves, that their opinion is weightless, or they are just plain uneducated. And each term is supposed to make its user *seem* "superior".

And that is the laity-problem comes in. See, it's not enough to simply disagree with those who are excited about this film's Doom. No--these ones need to be made to feel bad for even considering it. Meanwhile, some posters here even have their own personal trolls--individuals that follow them from thread-to-thread attempting to discredit their every post, simply because others agree with them.

Granted, fans who support this film have also expressed impatience with the users who are unhappy with Movie Doom. Some have indeed been tactless. They are not exempt in taking responsibility for this struggle. But to imply that the "dissenters"--as you call them--are just arbitrarily called out for not being pleased with the film is incorrect.

Tell me, if it's "all" about displeasure with the studio's decisions as you say, why the need for labels? Hmm? What relevance does that have?

I don't defend what we're getting. But as you can see, the director Tim Story DID have a vision for this film.

Saint you've often blamed him and his creative team for this watered down version of Victor. And that's why I always tell you not to knock Tim. From what I understand they had to fight tooth and nail just for what we have. So hopefully now you understand more clearly what I say when I mention that the studio shot down his proposals.

It could've been glorious...and who knows...maybe now that the origin is out of the way, the sequel will be.

Well, then, I apologize to Story. My error. That could have been brilliant. Doesn't change what we are getting, though.

But it does change one thing. If the movie is a hit, and if Story does have a vision, Fox might give him more power in the sequel, and he might try to rectify what happened.

I can dream, can't I ? ;)

And a ray of light finally breaks through the clouds......

To quote from Professor Henry Higgins: "By George, I think he's got it."

Just go to the *$#@ movie and support it with your $$$ and the sequel may come about just as you describe. And I close with another quote from a wise man .... "' 'Nuff Said. "

Now you see where the rest of us longtime Doom-fans are drawing our hope from, man. At first I was outraged too, but when I saw these stills months ago, I realized that at least the MOTIVE was there...and that as usual, FOX got in the way of developing them.

This is why origin stories suck, and I wish this film hadn't been one. But yes, with the way the ending of this film is set up, I wouldn't be surprised if FOX lets up a little on Tim to bring his vision to fruition. Even Bryan Singer wasn't given more creative control until X2.

Errr...ok, but I don't really like the mask in the whole body display, and, hum, what about the classic hood?

All this golden lines...don't know. I'd still hope for a more classic approach. But it's obvious, that's me. :doom:

The first movie will still probably be higly painful to watch for me. They better make the best goddamn Doom movie in the sequel for me to forgive them.

Then again, just a good Doom movie will probably Satisfy me. I'm such a Doom wore. :doom:

From what I understood earlier this year, FOX felt it was too "outlandish" for this origin film. Their thinking was, "Why would he go from one extreme as a businessman to Mr. Kilt-Wearing Monarch? Audiences won't believe it." So they wanted it modernized (the version we have now).

So then the proposals came to end the movie in a battle on Latverian soil complete with Doombots(Northern Canada). But Tim felt that that too would be unrelealistic to pack the cosmic storm, learning the powers, becoming celebrities, working together AND then leaving the country to chase Doom all into one 2 hour film.

So he had to compromise. His designers had to convince FOX, but in the end he got the mask and something of a cape. And he got the 4 vs. 1 battle, but it had to be held in New York instead of abroad. And to make Doom a more formidable enemy, the organic skin concept was born.

Is that in a magazine? If so, which one?

Whatever...you did attack me this morning for no good reason. I'm trying to stay on the positive. You did not have to put me down for that. Once again i did not insult anyone to any degree. Prove it!

Hiding behind "it's my opinion" yeah okay like i'm going to hide from you. You don't intimidate me anything you say is an opinion anything i say it's an opinion.

Ha! Look who's the hypocrite there. So you don't insult people right? And you're not getting away with it? You...play nice?

*Takes breath and tries to be the bigger person*

"No good reason"??

"It's not going to please all the fanboys and you know what you'll have to live with it."

That not only labels people of the opposing opinion, but it rubs in the fact that they're displeased. That's insulting and petty. You'll never be the "bigger person." You're a hypocrite and a coward. You can't even admit when you're insulting insulting people. I don't try to bull$hit people once I've insulted them. If I get labeled and degraded, and I throw it right back out there. There's no mincing words about that.

:wolverine

^Sure, but it's a lot better than what Fox ended up giving us.......
