I Am Doom....discuss me [merged-2]

"Some of the fans of Julian McMahon just don't get the same consideration around here as the Jessica Alba or the hordes of Ioan fans who quite frankly just are following their fave's career and are just by chance getting interested in the FF."

Hordes? I love it!:)

Because the specific reason is simple-

Every time I see him, there isn't anything I can really pick out that is interesting.

I don't like characters THAT AREN'T INTERESTING. When I say he's dull, I mean he's dull, I mean he's boring. I mean that he's just an uninteresting character.

For there to be a specific reason is hard to pick out, because NOTHING stands out.
I think you'd feel very different had they done him in a way that was true to his comicbook origin ....the way Jack "the King" Kirby and Stan "the man" Lee wrote him. I think you'd be blown away and in awe about the kind of "BAD MOFO with the Mojo" he is. He'd be the Jules Winnfield of comic book movies. He'd make OT Vader his bee-och. :doom:

Well, I almost put "gaggle" but it would conjure up images of honking geese.... ..;)

So Langoth let me ask for a little clarification... have you read any comic book stories and if so, which ones? Or are you just going by the trailers, etc.

...and would ruin the impression that a bunch of obsessed ioanites are scary:p
I´m with JMAfan-LOL!, and even more-the Hordes description has made my afternoon,so thereby I considered myself rebaptized as a Spanish Attila.Atilina, proud collector of the Fantastic Four from 1983 to 1988, Ioanized since 1999, relapsing in Fantasticology and...leches, Julian Macmahon-Doom got a page in Spanish magazine Acción.

I don't know much Spanish but the phrase "mui caliente" just popped into my head. :D Come over to the dark side girlfriend and drop Ioan like a bad habit .

Yes very hot.....

"Come over to the dark side girlfriend and drop Ioan like a bad habit"

But "that´s" precisely the thing with bad habits...you coudnt imagine the years I´ve been trying to quit coffee, and I thank my luck I never tried to smoke ,as I know myself. One thing is true-the one who decided the male cast of this movie was a Doomlike evil genius, even with all the whining about "no names for the cast" I´ve read in IMDB.

We aren't going to have an Ioen V Julian war are we. I like strawberry, you like chocolate. There is enough to keep us all happy. But I do love that picture of Julian

And maybe Herr Logan can use his time in the sin bin to review a few things and undertake (several) anger management courses.

"The I was provoked" defence does not hold water. Looked to me like a recent murder case when the guy's excuse for murdering his wife was she called me a **** so I punched her in the head, slammed her into the cupboard then jumped on her. A clear case of justifiable homicide.

I would think if you are going to come into a forum and argue (bludgeon) things that you know people are going to disagree with, you would expect to be pushed. So I guess if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen :) :) Or if you start throwing live grenades, you have no right to complain when some-one throws one back.;) ;) ;)

Wait, you're making an opinion on Logan's mental state from what he said on a message board?

And that is similar to name calling on a message board is it?

I'm a little confused about something... if Doom's skin is changing (seems to becoming metal-like underneath), why is he wearing a mask over what his skin would look like naturally?

it's due to his vanity i believe, his face doesnt turn fully metal but instead ends up like the pic below so he wears the mask to hide it

There was a lot of scarring and the end result may not have been very pretty. I also think that it was, in part, the final acceptance of the change in him. And the mask may have had a symbolic meaning as well.

He could always pull an Eckhart and just make a new face everyday... but then he'd probably need witnesses to help him make it.

His face gets alot scarred up, more than the pic above- but, I wonder if it goes all the way or not. In the behind the scenes book when he looks at the mask his face is 1/4 covered with many scars. But, I wonder if the transformation just wasn't completely finished.

I don't remember where I read it but it seems to me there is a scene in the movie where you just see him in a silhouette, and he is literally peeling some of the loose skin away from his face. If anyone is a reader of the comics, this is sort of what happens in the Ultimate FF version of Doom (Victor Van Damme). His skin just rots away to reveal the metal underneath. I wish the movie would give an explanation along the lines that by putting on the mast, he is trying to preserve what little of his human features he has left.

Oh, and I love those new high res pictures. Great find, guys!

God he looks so lame.

^I agree. FF might open well, but after that, it could all be down hill.............let's hope I'm wrong for comic book adaptation's sake, as well as Avi's job........we don't need 5 sub-par outings in a row............

For Doctor Doom you mean? You mean have I read the F4?

Surprisingly, I haven't in YEARS, not since I was about 9, I can't even remember the last F4 story I read to be honest. But I did have high hopes for this movie.

Thats why Doctor Doom's origin didn't matter as much to me.

I like strong plots, I like strong villains especially.

I played through the videogame, and I've seen most of the trailers. I find you can often judge a good deal about the movies from the games. Most of the time if I hate the games, or have a bad feeling from the plot of the game (which is usually similar to the movie, but altered so people can kick more ass), I tend to be right about the movie as well.

This is just from my personal experience.

So, I'm saying, from what I've seen so far, the main villain seems bland. It has nothing to do with how much like Comic-Doom he is, I can barely remember anything about the F4 its been so long. I tend to stick the X-men, and I haven't read any fo the stories where DOom and the X-men mingle (thgouh I know there is a few times they have, make no mistake).

I'll try to see the movie if I can, along with Batman Begins as Logan keeps hounding me on AIM to see it, but I'm not going to have the highest expectations going in.

It may turn out well, but from what I've seen from Doctor Doom, I have the least expecations for a strong villain role. Thats just my opinion, in no means does it mean he will be, this is just from what I've observed so far.
