Let me get this straight. He still has the melted garbage bag look and head scarf, and they managed to make his face look even worse than the dark elf mask, and people are praising it?

I said the exact same thing about Quicksilver looking like a hobo/Nike model, and Scarlet Witch looking like Avril Lavigne, and people praised those designs and celebrated how "accurate" they were. And yes i'm aware that
SW gets a new costume and QS doesn't need one for a certain reason

Doom doesn't look like Doom, but i believe the portrayal will be epic. Kebbell is far too good to ruin this. Sure, the costume might suck, but for me that means far less than the actual character. Ronan looked cool, and what did we get from that.

Doom looks great! Way better than the Doom that was in the previous three FF movies.

I never thought I would be living in a world where Batroc the Leaper has received more respect on the big screen than Dr. Doom.

Its kind of amazing that each attempt at a film version of Doom has looked less like him than the previous version. Its not even like Doom is a hard look to capture.

From now on, I will demand people in real life call me Immortalfire.

If this movie had any balls at all, the second he says his name is "Doom" to anybody, that person or those people should just break down laughing hysterically.

Because that's exactly what anybody would do to someone who asked you to call them by their internet blog username.

Hmmmmm.....I have a big problem then.

Agreed. Kebbell's a beast. The portrayal will be great.

I don't get it?........Are we missing something here?

At this point it's obviously a conscious decision Fox is making to not make Doom as he is in the comics. The question is why?

Do they think the character is to silly or unrealistic....? I'd really like to know what it is about this character that they find so hard bring to life on screen?

Or is it simply Fox just not knowing how and not willing to take a big creative risk with this character?

At the risk of getting myself in trouble again, I have this message for everybody who wants to decry this movie as not being representative of the Fantastic Four: it IS a Fantastic Four movie; it might not be the Fantastic Four movie you want, but it's still a Fantastic Four movie.

The same thing applies to each individual character in the movie as well, including Doctor Doom himself.

Taking what youve said on board I'm kinda left with a burning question though - just who out there wanted THIS Fantastic Four? THIS Doom?

I guarantee that there's an entire generation of readers whose first and possibly only exposure to the Fantastic Four has come courtesy of the Ultimate Fantastic Four books and the previous filmic iterations of the story, and I would hazard a guess that they're perfectly fine with and excited by this film being based on and inspired by those versions of the characters.

There are also clearly people out there who like both the 616 and Ultimate versions of the characters and like the approach that's been taken here.

doom looks like a burn victim in mid treatment. jesus i dont get how a studio on one side can fubar up so much with this yet deadpool seems to be spot on

If somebody says: "This isn't a Fantastic Four movie." it's an opinion.

If you say: "This IS a Fantastic Four movie." it's an opinion.

I have not seen the things from this film that I've been hoping to see. That's a fact.

so if this is the ultimate ff will blogger doom have goat legs. i mean that was the ultmate doom and all the defenders of this film seem to say its the better version

@Willie Lumpkin: There's a difference between stating an opinion and being inflammatory; calling this movie "FFINO" is inflammatory because it's drawing a line in the sand and stating that unless something matches your narrow definition of what you want to see, it has no merit.

I have the same problem with people calling this movie "FFINO" as I do with, for example, ultra-conservate Republicans referring to anyone whose views aren't perfectly in lock-step with their own "RINO"s because the attitude behind both sentiments is the same.

I wish we could all get together and BS about this over a few beers. I think the 'haters' and the supporters might get along better in the real world where things aren't so rigid.

When you read "FFINO", I can understand why it might upset you because, damn it, they're denying your right to believe this is a legitimate Fantastic Four film.

But somebody on the other side may feel similarly when you say: "This IS a Fantastic Four film." because, damn it, you're denying their right say this doesn't have the key elements that should be in a true Fantastic Four film.

Pretty much everything everybody posts here is an opinion, whether they tag it with IMO or not, and I think the best way for both sides to get along is to understand that subtlety and not feel others want to silence them because they disagree.

But sometimes it feels that way when we read these harsh, stark words without the smile or wink that we'd see sitting across a table from someone.

I am not buying this "Doom is a blogger" argument..What type of blogger gets to work in a science project funded by the government and allowed to take part in a dimension travel? Imo, he is not just a blogger. Judging from the second trailer, he is already an employee (a scientist I guess) working with Franklin's team even before Reed got recruited to assist their project.

What's so unbelievable about it? He works on a government science project, and he blogs.

Neither do I, but that doesn't mean blogging won't be an important element to the character.

Really? There's absolutely nothing inflammatory in the least about making the factual statement that, regardless of one's personal viewpoints, this IS a Fantastic Four film.

I dunno about Doom.. but the serious/Fox-men tone of this reboot... I wanted it a long time ago.

I like Doom's look. It's not as full on haggard as I thought it might look, though I do like the tattered cloak. That's gonna look so awesome and spooky when he's floating around. The bits of glowing green is a nice touch. It ties the look together.
