Fant4stic "I am DOOM! What MODS Dare Stand Against Me!

I have loved reading all those comics for the last 50 years where Doom was an anti social programmer....it was so thrilling to see how Kirby drew him at his computer plotting his revenge against Reed in his blogs...the excitement of Doom being anti social...the suspense while he was programming.....that's the Doom I grew up with and remember so fondly.

He's not going to battle the Fantastic Four with blogging.

He's not going to do anything resembling classic Doom, apparently. Repurposed military bots, no sorcery, gets "powerz" from an N-Zone accident. Blech. :down

What I can't understand is...people hear that Doom is an anti-social programmer who has a blogging identity and they more or less ignore the "anti-social/programmer" part and all they hear is "blogger" and somehow that becomes "internet troll".

He's not going to battle the Fantastic Four with blogging.

I would lay money down that it's equally the 'anti-social programmer', if not more so than the 'blogger' part. Blogger one way or the other doesn't really give insight into the character's disposition, Kebbell's characterisation of 'D00M' as an 'anti-social programmer' does. Kebbell did pretty much label him as a computer nerd/troll.

This is something I don't get. Ok, let's say they don't include his mastery of the dark arts, simply because it might not fit into their established world. What you're left with is still a resourceful and scientific genius, that built his own armored power suit, robots and all kinds of other high-tech machinery. Basically an evil Tony Stark.

Why can Marvel give us a believable scenario, where a captured Tony Stark built his first armored suit in a cave, with a fraction of the resources the Ruler of Latveria would have had, but all Fox can come up with it anti-social programmer, and yet another accident that gives him his powers.

This whole Movie better be just an attempt of FOX trying to play chicken with Marvel. FOX want a decent paycheck, if Marvel wants them to hand the rights over. But obviously they are not willing to pay whatever FOX is demanding.

Just imagine if Domaschev had been employed by Obadiah Stane to make sense of the blueprints of Stark's first IM armour. I think the conversation would go like this:

Stane: Hey Domaschev. I'm talking to you. What's your problem? You don't even respond when I address you. And your colleagues say you pretty much keep to yourself. Where are your social skills?

Domaschev: Uh... uh... I... don't have any.

Stane: Well you better listen real good here if you're not much of a talker. Stark was able to build his armour in a cave... with a box of scraps!

Domaschev: Uh... I'm just a programmer. I don't know how...

Stane: Quit making the excuses Domaschev. If you spent half as much time working as you did writing your blog you might actually amount to something. What's this you call yourself now? "Doom" is it? Big scary Doom?

Domaschev: Uh... yes... but

Stane: You pathetic little weasel (slaps Domaschev round the back of the head). You're just a nerdy internet troll hiding behind a big name. Like a mouse with a megaphone. Now get back to work and when I come back I want results!

Domaschev (as Stane walks away): You hurt me bald man. Now I'm going to hurt you back. I'm going to write about you all on my blog and tell the world what an unfair employer and hard taskmaster you are. So swears "Doom"!

Not really, it could be, but that's just stereotype(like all comic nerds equal virgins with no girlfriends). Anti-social could mean anything.

Doom's ego is so freaking large, who would want to be friends with him and who would he think is worthy of listening to as a close friend? Everyone is beneath him.

That's probably where the blogger part comes from. Like how Neil DeGrasse Tyson writes about the inaccuracy of science in movies, but he's a nice guy. Doom is a jerk and would rip Reed's projects apart.

I assumed the programmer thing is just for how he knows how to make Doombots.

You've got less than a year to go.

YAY!!!!

I remember when the UFF comic was announced I groaned to my brother that it wasn't going to work. The Ultimate universe was based on being a grounded approach to the characters which was the exact opposite of the FF. And it was a disaster aside from the zombies.

I guess that is what I'm curious about this. It sounds like how the UFF should have been approached, and might have worked as apart of the Ultimate universe.

I'd disagree antisocial programmer who is a computer nerd/troll is a sterotype. I have worked with programmers and some of them are far from trolls/nerds. That is just a skill, like painting, drawing or the multitudes of others. It doesn't describe a person it describes what a person can do. Antisocial behaviorare actions that harm or lack consideration for the well-being of others. So a guy who is smart, can write code for machines and doesn't care for the feelings of others. That is basically the character Toby described.

Anyone else think it was Doom who leaked out all the leaked celebrity pics?

Maybe the final battle with be Reed and "doom" in a hacking battle against each other

Or a big "fight" on Doom's own forum.

Reed: "I don't want to fight you, Doom..."

Doom: "Chicken! Cluck cluck!"

Reed: "I'm not a chicken...but you're a turkey!!! *adds Doom to ignore list*"

Doom: ":wow::csad: *turns off computer*"

(Scene of Domashev sitting in his room, all alone, with his head hanging)

Reed: "pwnd!!!"

This is why fanboys shouldn't be allowed to write.
If Batman can survive from Adam West to Burton then the FF can survive two bad interpretations.

I shouldn't have to defend the Batman TV show, but here goes...

Adam West's interpretation was a pitch-perfect portrayal of the silly way Batman was depicted in the comics at that time. The costumes and sets were gorgeous and the acting by West, Newmar, Meredith, Romero and especially Gorshin was fantastic. The TV show got a generation of young viewers into reading comic books - myself included.

Burton's take on the Darknight Detective was very different, but once again consistent with his portrayal in the comics during the 1980s. Keaton's depiction was more brooding than corny, but Batman 89 had a lot in common with its TV precursor - beautiful sets and costumes along with terrific acting. I managed a movie theater when it was released, and let me tell you - the film was a cultural phenomenon.

To compare the horrible Story films, or even worse, Trank's FFINO to Batman's 60s TV show and his late 80's film appearance shows an utter ignorance to both the quality and the cultural impact they had. Fanboys shouldn't be allowed to write if they have absolutely no understanding regarding what they're commenting.

That is the worse kind of hyperbole and it's click bait for people against the film. It's like an article from a Star Wars prequel hater and saying it wouldn't ruined my childhood.

I will agree it is both hyperbole and click bait. It also happens to be 100% correct.

Your tireless defense of this film is admirable. It truly is. You must really like Chronicle.

Chronicle happens to be a good film IMO. Not sleep-inducing like most superhero movies.

Couple annoying *****ebags with a camera get superpowers and continue to be annoying *****ebags.

And then the black guy dies.

Chronicle was mediocre and generic at best.

Please do some research. Go and read the BATMAN comics of the 50's and 60's. Batman and Robin in the comics at that time was a comedy team. It was not serious in the least. The Adam West TV show was a accurate representation of the comic book character at the time.

In contrast....no where at all in the 50+ years that DOCTOR DOOM has been published in the comics has he been named DOMASHEV and no where in that 50+ years has he been an "anti social programmer writing a blog".
