I Am Number Four

Good for Bay... I wish him the best. He's the best at what he does, but it's time to try something new. Hope he doesn't fall flat on his face again with a different genre.

More on Michael Bay's Number Four
Source: FilmDrunk
June 29, 2009

Last week, it was announced that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen director Michael Bay is on board to produce and possibly direct I Am Number Four for DreamWorks Pictures.

The project is based a on a six-book science fiction book series, of which one of the writers is James Frey, best known for writing "A Million Little Pieces."

The only plot details that were revealed was that the franchise is about a group of nine earthbound alien teens who escaped their planet just before it was destroyed by a hostile species. While the high school-aged kids assimilate, the title character discovers that he is being hunted by the enemy that blew up his planet.

FilmDrunk dug up a more detailed synopsis of the project:

The protagonist is 15. The rival race of aliens are from the planet Mogadore. They destroyed Lorien in order to strip the planet of its natural resources because Mogadore was dying, and still is, and they followed the Loric to Earth to finish the job. The Loric develop their "Legacies" (special powers) around their fifteenth year. This first book is a kind of love story. At its core it's a type of father/son alone in the world, always moving to stay alive story, a lá The Road."

Will this be the next project Michael Bay takes on?

Olyphant Replacing Copley in I Am Number Four

Source: Variety
May 12, 2010

Timothy Olyphant ("Justified") is replacing Sharlto Copley (District 9) in director D.J. Caruso's I Am Number Four, says Variety. Copley had to drop out because of his upcoming press obligations for The A-Team.

The film, written by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar and Marti Noxon, is based on the upcoming young-adult sci-fi book by James Frey and Jobie Hughes.

The story is about a group of nine earthbound alien teens who escaped their planet just before it was destroyed by a hostile species. While the high school-aged kids assimilate, the title character (Alex Pettyfer) discovers that he is being hunted by the enemy that blew up his planet.

Olyphant plays Henri, Number Four's guardian and mentor who comes to Earth with him. Kevin Durand will play The Commander that is coming after Pettyfer's character.

Teresa Palmer plays Number Six and Dianna Agron is Sarah, a girl dating the head jock who falls for Number Four. Callan McAuliffe is playing Number Four's best friend.

if this is true then he is an idiot.

i didnt know that he is such a big actor that he would tell the crew how he will look in the movie.

According to the site’s sources, Sharlto Copley “wanted wear a prosthetic nose and fake ears like Spock and look like an alien in the movie, while director DJ Caruso was adamant that the aliens were supposed to look just like regular humans, hence why they’re able to fit in.” Apparently neither side would budge and Copley left the project.

Wow, that's weird if true. But Copley seems like a weird dude, so who knows.

i can't help it but to laugh though. either he's just a wacky dude, or this is a sign that he's getting difficult...

He's like I was on one movie woooooooo!!!!! And it got lots of Critical praise, I'm the new George Clooney.

Definitely looks cool. One to keep an eye on I think.

Nice little trailer, could be a entertaining movie to watch. And cool that they mention Malaysia as one of the locations. :D

I'll be waiting for the parodies entitled I am Number Two soon after. :o

I think it looks interesting.

Looks promising-ish. Nice to see Dianna Agron in something other than Glee and it looks like her role is more actiony than I expected.

Ehhh, I don't like Pettyfer. He just looks like a super model who looks like he has no problems in the world. He's too perfect looking. I hated when they cast him for Alex Rider.

Dianna Agron. :cool::up:

I'm in.

I think he lacks character, physically.

He just looks too perfect. I look at him and I couldn't give a **** about who he is and what he does/ because I don't believe in his struggle whatever the hell it is. He looks perfect and it can all be solved with that. How am I suppose to feel for a guy who looks like that?
