I feel like DC still doesn't know what they're doing

Apart from the shockingly bad CGI mouth... This is the type of Superman we should've got after MoS. He seemed happy to be Superman... Not distraught about it.

Yeah but it felt incredibly forced and disingenuous. This is easily the most cynical take on this character cinematically to date.

Do you want to kill your brand? because Justice League is how you kill your brand.

If DC can get rid of Zack Snyder altogether then the DCEU can actually go in the right direction. However, I will give DC this they were able to acquire Joss Whedon from Marvel. If DC could do that then what can they do is actually get Joss to take over the universe well basically you have him replace Snyder and you actually get better writers all across the board then yeah I think the DCEU can turn itself around.

There is no excuse for poor CG work in blockbusters these days. None.

Yeah saw the CGI last night in Justice League and I will agree some of the CGI work could have been better but it just looked really poor.

There is no world where Zack comes back after this. This nightmare of reshoots and drastic cuts exists because of the reception Batman v. Superman got.

Snyder is to blame for the state of the DCEU, as are the idiot executives who kept hiring him and letting him run rampant even when it was clear his ideas were not the sort of things that were conducive to a healthy cinematic franchise.

Can I get an Amen on this statement...finally we agree on something

Yeah the reshoots and drastic cuts are exactly why Justice League has been getting the reception it has been getting. Had they just kept the original shots and didn't cut the original scenes that they shot prior to the film's release then I think JL would have done a lot better.

However, still doesn't take away from the fact that people are still probably going to see this film regardless. I know I did and for the most part I liked it. Was not as good as Marvel's The Avengers (2012) like not in the same league as that film but it was pretty good regardless.

I say DCEU doesn't necessarily need a reboot but more or less a revision going forward

Pretty much, Justice League was a step into the right direction but there needs to be done more.

I dont even blame snyder for it all because i dont know how much WB forced his hand on many things.
Using the Flashpoint movie could help rework some of the more problematic things in the overall universe, but im not sure if we will get to that soon.

They started this universe on the wrong foot, they wanted too much too fast instead of slowly building something up.
I dont know why they thought they "Have" to do it, there was no need to rush a DCCU...no rush at all.

There was no need to compete with Marvel or anything, i dont know what the people from WB have in mind for this whole universe, what their plan was and so on.

I will say to their credit however that i feel like the DC fandom is way harsher towards the movies than the marvel fans i feel like.
I stepped away from everything DC related the last few days because a lot of the stuff i read felt like this.
I might be wrong on this and just project something onto the fandom, but to me it really came off as a bit much.

Affleck not playing batman but himself? Even if that is true, same happens with Downey JR and nobody seems to mind.

Bad CGI? Doesnt seem to bother most of the Marvel Fandom in those movies.

Weak Villians? Marvel had what 10 of them so far.

Maybe i missinterpret much, but quite often i feel like the DC Fans Want the movies to fail for whatever reason.
I dont know, just something the last couple of weeks has bothered me a bit when going around in the DC Fandom.
I could be wrong on that, i dont know...it might just be because i really enjoyed Justice League and seeing it not being met with the same excitement that i have for it, could make this all look that way.

I think the Nolan trilogy as well as WW earlier this year have demonstrated that people are more than ready to love DC on the big screen. WB just hasn't been able to properly capitalize on that more often than not.

Forgot about them, yeah you are right.
But when i look back at how WW was ripped apart until the day it was released, i just have this feeling the DC Fandom almost wishes the movies to fail right from the start.

Maybe its just my inital feelings because im still on a Justice League high and havent yet calmed down to how much i enjoyed the movie...thats why i probably see it all a bit bleaker then it is...i dont know.

I've been a part of the online comic book film discussion for the past decade and, from my assessment, this began with Man of Steel. A lot of people weren't satisfied with that film and were even less pleased with the news that Snyder would be helming the next two films in the series. Once BvS was released the bottom kind of fell out and now DC has largely become the kicking boy for internet film pundits and fandom.

Whether that's fair or unfair depends on how you feel about Zack Snyder, I think.

Affleck playing himself =/= Bruce Wayne. RDJ playing himself pretty much is Tony Stark,

It's not the fans.

RDJ is there to play himself, Affleck has not that luxury. I like him but he's not a real life Bruce Wayne. RDJ explicity plays Tony as himself heightened.

Ares, Steppenwolf, everything in SS and Doomsday are atrocities, I did not feel this way for anything in the MCU that was on screen so prominently.

Again, which villains were total cardboards in the MCU? Because until now the DCEU gave us not even paper thin ones.

As you said, WB needs to do better. Simple as that.

I’m an MCU fan and I’ll admit that Malekith in Thor the Dark World was awful. Other than that, the villains are okay for the most part.

Beyond what we may think of Snyder's aesthetics, the costumes choices that have been made: are you ok with going on with them?

I do not downright hate them but I'd really like a complete overhaul, both to distance the DCFU from the DCEU but also to move toward a lighter look.

Especially Aquaman and the Flash.
Are there any leaked pics of any modification in Wan's movie?

I like all the costumes, most of them a lot. Flash could use some head gear modification, but the only outright bad one to me was Cyborg. Worst looking thing in the movie to me

There is pics from Wan's Aquaman with him in different outfits.

I really dislike the movie Flash costume in Justice League.

After seeing JL it's amazing how no one on the creative time knows how to write for Superman. Everything about him just comes off so fake and lifeless.

Between that and Henry Day Lewis the whole character is just a walking disaster. I can't imagine there are kids in the crowd excited to see this Superman.

Weak imagination then. Lots of kids in my audience. My teen really liked him. People were very happy leaving the theater both times I've seen it so far

WB does not know what its doing though. Most folks thought the longer director's cut of Bvs was much improved so lets mandate our temp movie's run time be shorter than the Avengers

Not just with DCEU either. Peter Jackson's horror tales of studoi demands. micromanagement and changes at the last moment on the Hobbit films make me impressed we ended up with a coherent narrative at all.

I still wish that WB had stayed with Goyer (he’s a comic book guy just like Geoff Johns) and he kept the story upbeat without taking it too seriously.

Goyer is definitely not like Geoff Johns. Sure he is more familiar to comics than a lot of screenwriters, but he has more misses than hits. Plus given his interviews in the past regarding other comic characters, he doesn't seem like he's the go to guy for these films.

I like but his take is a little too dark and cynical for this I think. That's not what the audiences want.

The only thing I didn't care for in Wonder Woman is that Ares was introduced so late into the movie, or at least he wasn't revealed as Ares until close to the end.

Yeah I feel Goyer is just as bad as Snyder, really not a fan. I don't feel either completely gets the characters, or how to adapt them.

Goyer is better with scripts than directing.
